Dre trying to sign T.I .
« on: January 18, 2013, 07:37:36 AM »
T.I.’s 10-year contract with Atlantic ran up only a month ago … but he’s already put together his own idea of a $75 million deal.

- 3 albums
- 10-20 percent of publishing, touring, merchandise, film and TV rights
- Corporate endorsement deals
- Exclusive signing of all Grand Hustle artists

T.I. already met with some of the industry’s biggest names including Dr. Dre, who asked him to join Aftermath over dinner at Katana recently .. and Jay-Z, who wants T.I. in the RocNation family.

Sony put a $50 million deal on the table so far … and Universal’s meeting with him later this week to make an offer too.

It's just good to hear top money deals going on when discussing rap

IMO T.I. is too commercial friendly for Dre, it'd be a wrong move

Dre signs unestablished/wack artists because he can't handle working with real talent that know what their doing.

T.I. would fit in at the Roc though.
Charlie, lost his life right in front of the party...

T.I would bring in some extra ca$h for dre, and with these comercial deals he don't have to worry about food on the table i guess.

Popped Off is an absolute banger, i think their styles meshes well together, and TI seems to be ghostwriting well for the doc

I don't think T.I. is worth $75 million, at least not for those things.  Plus he's going to be a bigger gamble.  Considering his criminal history and the federal charges he had before, he's on thin ice as it is, and it's not like he'll never again be in a situation where he might potentially be in trouble.

Rappers these days are getting deals that I never thought would've been the case, especially with the significant decrease in album sales (though I do realize that album sales account for only a portion of revenue).  But hey, good for them.

That being said, I'd rather not see him sign to Aftermath, since it's evident that it would just take longer for him to put something out.  Dre can't even seem to finish his own album (let alone someone else's), and it's not like many of the artists he signed who were established artists beforehand put out a lot of material... thankfully at least Busta Rhymes got to drop an album, but we never saw anything from Rakim or Raekwon.

TI is not even a rapper, he's a personality these days. Dre is paying for the name. but lets be real, an album fulla joints like "shit popped off" would be TI's best.

And that would guarantee that your albums would take three years just to record

Dre should just concentrate on up and coming artists these days, this may have worked years ago when Detox still had a chance with TI maybe ghostwriting but not now

it would be a great move for both parties involved but based off dre's history wit holdin' projects back and takin' his time who knows....i would love to hear the king over some more dr. dre production though. 8)

Wow, I can't believe it's already been nearly 10 years since Trap Muzik dropped.

From what I've heard there's appearently a "bidding war" going on to sign T.I. and other than Dr. Dre, Jay-Z is in it as well.
Personally out of the possible destinations I've heard I hope he goes to Roc Nation. Mostly because I want to hear a T.I. & J. Cole collaboration, but also because those 3 albums he wants actually have a chance of being released on Roc Nation.
