...and that's not even to brag about the current Laker team, because we're definitely lacking in certain areas....it's more so a reflection of how whack the east really is. i mean, lakeshow is currently 4-0 against eastern conference teams after tonights victory over the pistons..if we played in the east, playoffs wouldnt even be in doubt. shit just aint fair how deep the west has become. on the contrary, the top 4 teams in east would struggle to even make the playoffs in the west... it actually makes no sense why theres such a huge disparity. i dont think we need to eliminate conferences, but if it stays like this, the nba is really guna become a watered down product over time.....

how bout kobe with them back-to-back triple doubles tho? 8)

They need to change the NBA to American and National leagues instead of east, west...

i think they do it for traveling purposes.  a lot cheaper having teams on each side of the country playing each other 4x and only traveling to the east/west coasts once per city.

playin in the western conference, might as well be playin an all-star team every night...i think mdogg had a similar idea to american league/national league....make 1 conference all the aba teams+expansion teams and then make one conference all the original nba teams. but like hack said, the idea of constantly traveling back n forth from east 2 west is too much.

Yep, this is what I came up with.

One conference (based off teams that were either founded in the BAA or were NBA Expansion teams)
Boston Celtics (1946)
Golden State Warriors (1946)
New York Knicks (1946)
Los Angeles Clippers (1970)
Portland Trail Blazers (1970)
Phoenix Suns (1968)
Milwaukee Bucks (1968)
Oklahoma City Thunder (1967)
Dallas Mavericks (1980)
Houston Rockets (1967)
Chicago Bulls (1966)
Orlando Magic (1989)
Washington Wizards (1961)
Toronto Raptors (1995)
Cleveland Cavaliers (1970)

Two Conference (based off teams founded in the NBL or ABA, or are located in cities with historic ties to either of those leagues)
Atlanta Hawks (1958)
Detroit Pistons (1941)
Los Angeles Lakers (1947)
Philadelphia 76ers (1946)
Sacramento Kings (1923)
Brooklyn Nets (1967)
Denver Nugget (1967)
Indiana Pacers (1967)
San Antonio Spurs (1967)
Minnesota Timberwolves (1989)
Utah Jazz (1974)
New Orleans Pelicans (2002)
Miami Heat (1988)
Memphis Grizzlies (1995)
Charlotte Hornets (1988)

with that said, it was a close game all the way down to the last minutes...we were down 4 with a minute and a half left. and this is supposed to be one of the top teams in the east. if jeremy lin doesn't go 0-10, thats a laker victory.

4-1 against the east now...
