he said he is trying to bring musicianship back in an interview. he think thats where rap music will evolve in close future.

what he means with musicianship is live instruments and different type of drums.

"gorgeous" is a good example of it but its an average song.

Marsha's last album would be a good example also.

But... can we get pass the 2001 sound?

it sounds like a combination of "genocide", "for the love of money", "satisfaction"... you dont even have to listen closely, just try to remember.

those tracks are a million times better than outta da blue .. for the love of money and satisfiction are melodic and have grooves .. and genocide is a banger with much more simplicity than outa da blue

i still think that they are reducing expectations before they hit the world with their best song they are keeping.

on the other hand, i am thinking if outta da blue is the worst song on the album, which song would it be comparable from 2001 album? ackrite?

there is no song as bad as outta da blue or gorgeous on 2001.

we still don’t know where it’s from …. but it’s the sound that we’re looking for. whether its properly layered or sonically on point is hard to tell when listening through a phone. however, it definitely has the 2001 sound, which is better than what we’ve heard thus far.

I've been thinking that Drink Champs would probably have to pay to use a beat from the album. It could just be a Dre-type beat.

All but 1. Can't be bumping the album loud then you're in another room and Pause 4 Porno comes on haha. I don't listen to the physical anymore due to that. I just replace it in a playlist with the instrumental track which arguably fits better too.

2001 is great album no doubt, it changed the game, created a New type of funk and proved all Dre doubters at the time wrong. Every sound on it is effective. But I rarely bump that album. It got played out pretty fast.

Big ego’s is the only track that stays heavy in rotation (the watcher and forgot About Dre stay dope as well)

Big Bang, the Firm, Last meal are semi-Dre produced albums that have more replay value for me (offcourse if you skip certain tracks).

For me Dre can win a lot in the music game if he produces a grown up easy to listen to future funk album that Bumps, no gangsta gangbang baggy bandana dumb shit, but gangster/business/player/familyman wise content, that you can even play in presence of your parents, wife, friends, colleagues, family and kids on a house party and in the ride.
