I'm sorry but for those who say it is well mixed, i'm sitting here with professional studio speakers and it is not well mixed at all... super treebly and harsh, serious lack of basse...  i switched back to 2nd to none Up In Da club to recalibrate my ears and i was like ok it is not me being tired or my speakers, that missionary album is harsh as a mutha fuck@, don't listen on phone speakers and says it sounds superb lol ....

kinda weird, but the spotify version sounded much thicker than the apple version on the low end

almost like they used 2 different masters

really enjoyed the album, part of being an artist is changing and adapting. All the greats are able to do this and move through eras. The fact of the matter is dre and snoop have lived the majority of their life as millionaires they are bound to of changed as people and also musically.

Only drawbacks for me would be the lack of deep baseline on the whole album, I also thought the hooks were poorly executed on lots of the tracks.

Also is the title of the album sort of like a double entendre? with the other meaning being a preacher? I feel the production on the album certainly lends itself to that in parts.

Good album though probably 7.5/8 out of 10

Apple version is weired. Like I said - too much balance on the left side channel. Especially when you are on headphones.

still tryna digest before i give a final conclusion

there’s some good stuff on here… some ok stuff on here…. overall not what we expect from dre n snoop but it’s not flat out whack

on first listen, compton was much better
Leave Compton alone man lol the last Dre album before this was Marsha's. This is a Snoop album produced by Dr.Dre, Compton is basically a compilation and Snoop is on one song if I recall. If Missionary is to be compared, it shouldnt be with Compton!

3.5 is a low rating for this album.  It’s at least a 4/5.

For people who don’t like the album, I’m curious as to what albums you would rank above this that have come out in the last couple years?

Vultures 1
MTBMB
Mr Morale and Big Steppers
More Black Superheros

Pressure song was heard for a second in a snoop instagram post a few years ago. It was a video from compound and dre was there for snoops birthday. Can someone find that post to see if i remember correct?

After the first 3 singles, wasn't expecting to like it as much. But after first listen, I'm digging it. I need to give it more listens to give a final conclusion, but I know it will grow on me. I don't know why people are expecting traditional West Coast beats, gangsta type beats from Dre. Have y'all heard the beats he's made since Compton? Stuff like The Contract EP, the 4 beats he did on Anderson Paaks Oxnard album, the 3 beats on Eminems Music To Be Murdered By, an R&B album by Marsha, none of that was pointing to the traditional West Coast funk sound. And Dre doesn't like to repeat his previous sounds anyways. So I knew it wasn't gonna be like that, and I knew they would go for a more mainstream style and sound. So I had a certain expectation for this and it is good to me by that standard. I didn't really like Outta Da Blue that much, but that one even grew on me a little bit. Dre is never gonna make a beat again like the traditional west coast gangsta rap fan wants again, sorry, that's just how he is.

I’ve listened all the way through twice now…gonna reserve judgment until a few more listens.

But anyone else BLOWN AWAY by Snoop’s vocal
Performance on this shit?   The flows, the melodies, etc.  He hasnt sounded this hungry and creative for an entire album in 30 years…too bad the subject matter is tired (what happened to mature lyrics lol?) but that’s what is expected with Snoop I guess

I agree with his vocal deliveries as well yes but again the songs are pretty bland and no catchy rythyms at all , just mid

TBH to me it sounds like they mixed that for the new generation who listen to earbuds or their mobile phone speakers, it is very high mid centered, very low bass and quite harsh on the vocals.
i liten with some studio neumann speakers and a pair of focal headfones, it blew my mind when i heardit as it doesnt sounds like some Dre' s team mix, it is very modern and digital not in a pleasing way to me...

Yeah who cares about sonics, mixing and mastering if the rhythm, melodi and vibe is not catchy. If its dope, if it makes you feel like "wow"... you can feel it even with a mono cheap speaker.
