Dre's projects are only as good as the strength of his collaborators. The ICU is decent enough, they're good, very good, great producers even. I personally find Dem Jointz style to be rhythmically awkward and noisy but some people might appreciate it's 'uniqueness', Dre certainly does.

but his previous team (Elizondo, Batson, Storch, Parker etc) especially at their peak were truly AMAZING and that's the difference here. same goes for Compton and with pretty much everything else inbetween.

that’s not the difference .. dre had the midas touch in his prime. whoever he worked with, he extracted the best out of them. if he was working wit icu in the 90s they would be bangin out some timeless classix.

dre is simply not the same dre. it happens to the best of em.

Let people like what they want. The album it's not a classic on par with the chronic or we  doggystyle we get it. But that doesn't mean it's a bad album. We all had expectation but now that they are gone we can appreciate the work. I like the album for the beat the lyrics and for snoop. But people here try to force people to hate it. It's not a classic but it's a good album. And we can all accept the fact the Dre beats we expected are no longer in dre 's mind; He moved on from the 2001 era . People should move on too or go back to lesson 2001 and the other songs. Dre is an artist who don't want to redo the same formula. He had multple era with different teams and sound. the NWA days the death row days the early aftermath days the post 2001 days the compton days... And each era have a different sound. Now we are in the orchestral era with a lot of live instruments. Dre is a real artist and he does that not for the fan but because it's what he wants at the moment. Im sure if wanted to do 2001 sound he could. Beutlike he said on drink champs he never listen to his old music. He always try something new for him. I know and he know that the fans wanted the old dre but thats not him. If u don't like fine but don't hate on the people who like the album

Meanwhile, Amazon is finally delivering the Missionary CD to me tomorrow.  :grumpy:

Say what you want, but this album awoke this forum out of a decade-long slumber. This board was dead for a while there...
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

Which is to be expected. Father Time is undefeated.

  • NWA Dre = Michael Jordan in the 80s
  • Chronic era Dre = MJ's first 3-peat
  • Aftermath compilation era Dre = MJ playing baseball
  • 2001 era Dre = MJ's second 3-peat
  • Detox/Compton era Dre = MJ on the Wizards
  • Missionary era Dre = MJ owning the Hornets

Actually, you should stay neutral as a producer, instead you Diss your colleagues from the WestCoast all the time, even though you worked with members of Snoop, that's pathetic -Sccit-

huh??

who did i diss? are u retarded bro?

i’m giving my objective opinions on the music

i am the biggest dre apologist here .. i modeled my production techniques after him and even use his teammates as co-producers and engineers on my own work .. i love dre .. i used to spend a good portion of my life fighting anyone that would claim dre isn’t hands down the goat who does more when he produces a track than anyone else in rap history …. u couldn’t tell me shit when it comes to dre… but that won’t stop me from keepin it 100 bro. i’m one of the few here who calls compton a classic. don’t get in your feelings.

It just comes across that you want to insist on everyone that the album is bad, no matter, it just takes some getting used to, some like it, others hate it, something like that hasn't existed for a long time. In the new interview he explains why it sounds different, as much as I understand it

It's crazy. I preoredered the album bacc in November and I'm only receiving now. It's not as if I live in the middle of nowhere, either. I live in New Jersey in a suburb outside of NYC. I don't know how to explain it but smh.
