What did you guys think of the 25th anniversary release? https://interscope.com/products/dr-dre-2001-25th-anniversary-edition-2lp?srsltid=AfmBOopJhC-p01VhsOEEAwGEvkdc0ed8u4W7VUY8hO18Nl2l0j_rZuel

Other than the color of the record and the cover, is there any difference from the OG release?

Dre’s such a creative genius on everything not just producing songs but a lot of the dope music videos and titles, skits and intros, and of course he sequences the albums.  If he doesn’t know how to do it he always finds the right person to do it.

So if he couldn’t think of a cover, how does he not have Mel-Man or any other slightly crazy, high on drugs and alcohol, yet creative cat in his circle that can come up with something?

And I like the previous post (2 back bd) kind of explains it.  To me it seems the album title just got squandered due to the legal issue.  Simple as that.

So don’t try to like come up with your own explanation (that Dre never gave) that the millennium starts with a 1 ( ::) and that Dre’s title to the album was actually somehow cutting edge and futuristic and that he one-upped Suge.  Suge got the best of him for sure on the album title and cover.

Btw, “Like It Or Not” and even a few bangers “Who Do You Believe In” (unreleased Pac gem 💎) were on Suge’s album

OutKast first 3 or 4 albums are all top tier stuff. Classics on classics
"Southernplayalisticadillacmusic"
"Ain't No Thang"
"Atliens"
"2 Dope Boyz"
"Elevators"
"Rosa Parks"
"Skew it on the Barb"
"Bombs Over Baghdad"
"Ms. Jackson"

^^Obvious Banger, and then if you want one of their lesser known, rare gems, check this joint "Babylon"

^^Yes, I posted them again, try these for sure.  I've never heard anyone whether they are the most hardcore backpacker or my own brother who is the most casual of music fans say they didn't like these songs ^^

They must have lost me with that double album because I listened to their first 2 and they are indeed good

the album cover was minimalistic by design ... in a time where minimilistic graphics were becoming very popular

the cover doesn't make the music, the music makes the cover .... i like it the way it is.. title, cover and all

I seem to remember BigBoi had a couple interesting songs in his disc of the double album — but overall that was the first OutKast album I didn’t like and never listened to much.  It’s their first 4 that are all 4 classic.  And even Eminem, Nas, Snoop, Dre and Bone didn’t put out 4 straight classic albums.  Nobody in rap history had a run like:

Southernplayalistic - Classic
Atliens - Classic
Aquemini- Classic
Stankonia - Classic

Pac did have his run of 4 if you count Strictly, but I’m not sure Strictly 4 My — was a classic.  It had “Keep Your Head Up” which was classic and a few other bangers so it’s damn close to classic so I guess I have to put Pac in with OutKast as having 4 classics in a row.  If you count 8 Mile as an Eminem album or Devils Night—either one of those gives Eminem 4 consecutive classics

Come on homie you making excuses for the cover that Dre himself didn’t make.  If Dre says he wanted to make it minimalistic then I will grant you the point—but I really think it was just a legal thing and Suge fucced him over on the title and the cover art is associated with the title so that got fucced as well

I never was a fan of Cubes albums—I always loved and banged his singles and WC Connection, etc. but never the full albums.  Like “Bow Down” is one of the most iconic songs ever along with “Today Was A Good Day” but I the rest of the album didn’t grab me

Who is Mac Dre?  Oh, he must be a Bay Area artist..

Quik… oh dear god, his shit is dope but not classic.

bro what are u talkin about

dre coulda easily used a pic of himself or some funky cartoon artwork etc

i like it the way it is .. makes the album feel less gimmicky and gives it a bigger/more sleek aura, matching the THX intro ... its not an excuse, that's how i feel

My stance on Cube is totally subjective so I wouldn’t argue anyone on that that’s just personal preference and I could easily be swayed if I bumped it in the right mood and atmosphere..

But no way Quik or Mac Dre has 4 consecutive classics that’s objective fact

Most hiphop heads agree that Mac Dre had 4 classic solos in a row?  You can’t even find 3 people on this forum to agree with that  ;D

depends where u go ... bay area hip-hop heads, ABSOLUTELY

like u go on siccness.net forums and they will all vouch for that ....

there are regional heads and overall heads

this forum isn't comprised of overall hip-hop heads and definitely not bay area heads.. it's mostly g-funk and 90s death row heads .. the dub consensus couldn't name 4 mac dre albums if their life depended on it .. like u

if u go on an east coast based message board, they will say warren g doesn't even have a classic album and tha twinz debut album is mediocre to them...

but an OVERALL hip-hop head encompasses classix from all coasts.. most heads are only heads particular to their favored region and are casuals in most others..
