Tha West's major comeback in store?
« on: June 19, 2003, 10:53:36 AM »
I have been peepin everything that is scheduled to come out within the next year, and I am thinkin that the west may have some sort of comeback in store. I donno if everything will have 2 ride off Detox, but do y'all think that we can at least get to the level that we did in 99-2001 as far as nationwide notariety? These are all of the new album releases scheduled to be out within the next year that I can think of off the top:
Dre
213
Westside Connection
Suga Free
DJ Quik
Nate Dogg
The Game
Ice Cube
Hi-C
Bad Azz
Crooked I (prolly won't do shit tho)
Amir
Warren G
Tha Eastsidaz

Also with the West coast artists appearin on east coast mixtapes, and havin some tapes of our own, I am thinkin we will come back somehow...what do u think?

The Make or Break Album is 213.... Westside Connection can't do shit in my opinion... only Ice Cube is a popular name in WSC...WC and Mack 10 don't have the name Ice Cube Does.... but, 213 is the make or break album... Everyone knows Snoop Dogg... and everyone should know Nate Dogg... Warren G is also a top name in the game...time will tell, but this is the album...

I have a feeling that Warren has been savin his best beats since Regulate for this album...so even tho some beats might sound a lil outdated it won't matter because I think he's gonna come with classic g-funk and be like fucc tha haters.
I donno who produced "Run up on us" but that is tha haaaardest beat I've heard in a minute.

If the so-called "comeback of the West" happens, it happens like this: The major names get the interest back (Dre, Snoop, Cube...) and then, when the heads are turned to the West again, is the chance for the new cats to make sales. There's no way in hell that artists who aren't in the mainstream right now will ever make heads turn towards the West.

Crooked I won't do shit but artist like Bad Azz and Warren G will? If they have not made noise after all these years what make you think they will now? The west will not do shit unless someone on the west coast comes with some fresh hot new shit that will turn the focus back on the west. Detox will help but it will only be short term sucess for the west just like Dre2001 was.

well i think no matter what this will be a tight time for westcoast fans cause we are getting alot of albums we've been waiting a long time for............at the same time there are some albums sure to push units:

213- will go at least plat no doubt

eastsidaz- last 2 albums plat, guaranteed gold

wsc- will get a chance to go plat, sure mack an wc arent'e big solo names but as a group they were huge so they'll have a chance

dre- when this comes out will be big obviously

tha pound- i honestly think if doggystyle picks up this album and promotes it right it could be pretty big, i am bias cause a love soopa, but i think it should at least get gold

and if these albums do blow up it does open up the airwaves for other up and coming artists i.e. knoc, e white, crook, sly boogie ect

hmmmmm.  do you think suge is waiting on Dre to drop detox so that the industry would be lookin to the west for more up and coming shit and THEN he would drop crooked 1?????  that might be a possibility.  or he's waiting till maybe Dre or Snoop would diss crook and the row BIGG TIME and then release his shit while it was hot?

Not a bad idea not only for Tha Row but any new west coast artist. If Dre drops Detox soon and get attention back to the west maybe alot of new west artist can drop and get attention as well.

213 will be the Biggest West Coast Release of the Year

Tha EastSidaz might go Platinum with their come back  and "Bacc On The Blocc" is hot on the streets and mixtapes

West Side Connection it might flop ,might do good but wont be a success for the mainstream but it will depends on the singles they drop and the promotion

213? I know majority here is die snoop fans but 213 won't do much at all. Snoop had trouble sellin if it wasn't for pharell. Warren G hasn't sold nor had a huge hit in years and Nate Dogg only makes other records sound good so how can 213 make the west big again and give an honest answer.

i could feel what your sayin but i think your missin the boat a little.....

1) pharrel didn't really save him cause he almost killed him with the first beat, but then did bring the album back in sales with beautiful

2) nate dogg makes other albums tight cause he is the best hook man in the business........he will be doing probably at least 16 hooks for the album, i'm guessin a few of those will be big single quality

3) they will have the best producers in the game behind them, dre warren and others

4) this album is gonna get a big push, and snoop is still one of the biggest names in rap

i do agree this isn't like the second coming of the chronic but it will go plat no doubt
