what do you think? i think Gangsta rap has gotten boring in the last few years. nothin really interesting has come out, people who were deep with it (like Spice 1) have become boring with no depth.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

I agree.....I wish it was still alive and kickin', but like you said, the originals back in the day (that are STILL doing gangsta rap) have become boring with the shit.

yeah i was thinkin about it & Above The Law became a little boring too with Forever Rich Thugs (their knew one looks promising tho)

Gangsta rap has left too many influences to modern rap to ever be dead... Cussing is alright now, not so special if somebody mentions guns & killing in their raps etc...

Well I'll put it like this...

In California, Gangsta Rap isn't as big as it was in it's prime of 89/91/93-96...but it is still pretty big here.

Outside of California, 75% of the population isn't feeling gangsta rap or g-funk anymore. Therefore, no matter how tite people from Cali may think our rappers are, if they are comin gangsta, it's a very very very small chance that they will blow up in the industry at this point because Gangsta rap isn't as big as it was, so unfortunately most of these rappers people on this site love missed their turn.

Well they consider 50 more "Thug rap" than Gangsta Rap. As far as West Coast gangsta rap, people in NY aren't feelin it...they like all the thug rap shit such as 50, Beanie, D-Block, etc. but they don't like the west coast gangsta shit
