RUMOR: JAY-Z feat. ICE CUBE
« on: August 23, 2003, 09:22:06 AM »
Jay-Z is droppin his "Black Album" soon. We all know, that Dre is goin to produce 1 track. There're rumors, that this track will feature the Don Mega Ice Cube.
Source: http://www.aftermathmusic.com/

i dont know about y'all but i'm not too hyped about this. Ice Cube & Jay-Z both fell off HARD and Dre's not exactly been that great on beats lately. However, maybe the 3 of them being together will push them too each use their talents to the fullest. This track DOES have the potential to be amazing.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Three legends, no doubt, but the idea of this track doesn't excite me much.

To be honest the thought of Cube on a Jay-Z track doesn't convince me that "The Black Album" will be the "Reasonable Doubt"-style banger I hoped for. Still, gotta give the man a chance to bow out with another classic. Time will tell...

I've never been a fan of Jigga, so frankly I don't really care...but if it happens, it will be a good song I think.

Cube fell off worse than Kurupt & Xzibit. Cube was probably the best rapper from 88-92. The only new Westside Connection songs are Holidaze & Lightz Out. Holidaze was wack as hell & Lightz Out was dope but Cubes verse was nothing compared to his old shit (Still liked it tho)

Cube is still one of the dopest

please. Cube's recent work compared to his early days is like comparing Nelly to Ras Kass  in terms of lyricism
