This will sound very racist, but I don't care. I notice that mainly white people are fans of the more "hardcore" styled rappers. This board for example, the majority of the gangsta rap fans on here are white. Not saying the people here, but in general, most white people are trying to learn about the streets and street life through the music, since 9 out of 10 times they've never experienced it.

that is right on the real....i find it funny how alot of times people will be like in the streets people don't like this cat, or black people don't listen to this only white kids, that ain't true though

for the most part in my experience black people more are feeling alot of the music, where most of the white dudes i know will be more into the hardcore shit, and then rock......i really see almost no white dudes listening to nelly, or ja rule

in terms of them trying to learn about the streets, that might be part of it but i think its more just listening to hardcore music (not talking about the wigger white people)

its not that white people dont like 50 cent...its that anyone who enjoys good lyricism doesnt like 50 cent.

anyone who claims u can feel the emotions Ja Rule puts in his lyrics should never dare to speak on 'good lyricism'

i said nothing about ja rules lyrics other than they were crap...i said i like his music because he puts emotion into his voice. something that rarely happens in hip hop. its pretty tough to put emotion into lyrics dude.

and if you want to know what i think about good lyricism maybe you should learn my actual taste in music first.

if they're crap then, according to ur logic, u aren't one of the peeps who enjoy good lyricism are u.. otherwise u wouldn't listen to crap ass lyrics, it doesn't matter what u think about emotions in Ja's voice (which is a damn joke but of course u can listen to who-/whatever u want to)cuz u don't know what reasons other people have that makes em listen to 50 (just like ur reason is the "emotion in his voice" in Ja's case).. u seem pretty confused when it comes to this, yet u still should be able to see that nobody's listening to 50 for no outstanding lyrics, therefore u should also be able to see the parallelism between u listening to Ja and others listening to 50.. now if I didn't know u ain't the smartest I'd think this fact should be a good reason for u not to talk shit like "its that anyone who enjoys good lyricism doesnt like 50 cent" but oh well..

and if you want to know what i think about good lyricism maybe you should learn my actual taste in music first.
actually.. i can care less

preventing proud sgv from tryin to 'save' his son again as he amusingly put it in that other thread, I gotta underline that I was just talkin about lyrics + what else could be a reason for being a 'fan' of a lyrically average/weak artist, I still think there's other reaons not to listen to Ja while listening to 50, so no, I'm not doing the same with 50/Ja.. just pointing out that somebody who listens to Ja shouldn't speak on people who listen to artists without 'good lyricism'

and as for comparisons between 50 and pac, i don't think that 50 and pac should ever be mentioned in the same sentence. i think 50 is garbage....

i said "Enjoy Good Lyricsm"...not only listen to good lyricism. ja rule has one thing over 50. emotion in his voice. if 50 put some emotion into his voice so he atleast had one good thing going for him i would listen to him.

'When did I ever say I was a gangsta rapper? Is Frank Sinatra a gansta singer? Is Steven Seagal a gansta actor? What is that? That's such a limited term. Marlon Brando ia not a gangsta actor, he's an actor. Axl Rose and them are not gangsta rock and rollers, they're rock and rollers. So I'm a rapper, this is what I do, I'm an artist. And I rap about the oppressed taking back their place. I rap about fighting back. To me, my lyrics and my verses are about struggling and overcoming, you know? Not gangstas. I don't rap about sitting up eating shrimp and shit. I rap about fighting back.' - Tupac Shakur

Well... this thread is very interesting. I'm Latino, or Mexican. To seperate the two is like saying theres a difference between German and whites. yeah, not all whites are German, but Germans are still white. Not all Latinos are Mexican, in LA it's hard to tell though, but Mexicans are Latinos. OK, enough of that.

The quote that 'Pac said i think shows his I guess a conscience rapper. Before 1996, most good hip-hop was commercial. Come on, all back packers back then complained about westcoast "gangsta" rap. Snoop, Eazy E, Quik, M.C. Eiht, Ice Cube, Coolio and all of them were gangsta rappers and they were going platnum and doing movies. At the same time, EPMD, Wu Tang Clan, Eric B. & Rakim, Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One and all of them were still going gold or platnum, and they were the ones being played on BET all the time, and they got as much play as the west on Yo MTV Raps, but since the west was so big, they felt they had to show what's real hip-hop. 'Pac was rapping like a conscience rapper at the time, bu so was everyone else, from eastcoast hip-hop to westcoast gangsta rap. But 'Pac never claimed to be a gangsta like the other westcoast artist, he just kept it real to himself. After 1996-1997, when Big and 'Pac dies, it seemed both forms of rap faded out. Instead of having all styles that emerged in 1988's Golden Year, 1997 everyone started going the rout of singles. Every artist that sold, sold with hot singles instead of trying to be creative with there work, and staying true. A platnum formula was made and all big artist followed it. Then 50 came out later, and in DMX style, brought the streets aspect of hip-hop back to the mainstream. DMX had done that earlier, were as artist like Jay-Z and Nas tried going the commercial rout. 50 Cent though, was not selling, so what did he do, he followed the platnum formula. Like everyone else. I can't hate on 50 Cent, his husling to all these white boys, making them buy his music so he could sell. Personally, I like 50's shit, it's hot. I don't hate on commercial. I like both underground and commercial. People hold grudges and try to take sides. Man, it's all for hip-hop. Commercial rap is a faze, like gangsta rap was, like the early party music was. 50 Cent has helped out with rap musics growth, and 'Pac did in the early and mid 90's. Why people hate on either is just dump. Like 'Pac said, just "wake up and scream fuck the world" 'cause no matter what, you'll always have haters. I bet that if 50 never blew, most white boys on this board right now would be talking about 50 Cent needed to blow, 'cause he always disses Ja Rule on mixtapes.

I don't really notice any deviation between races when it comes to 50 & Pac. Not trying to sound like an anti-racist (like I am) but that's true. Like half and half for both races like either one from my experiences.

hip-hop's no longer a black thing. It was at one point. But not anymore. Im half white, and i listen to just about everything cept Chingy, who simply sucks no matter what.

EVEN NELLY, had a song i nodded my head to.
If your doing your thing, for money or love, i respect that cuz that person is influencing dozens more.

Ya' know what I mean. I know you talking about people that belong to a country, but people think of a certain nation as a ethnicity. Honestly, I know you might think different, but don't most people outside the U.S. think of Americans being white. So whatever.

wow actually i agree with that statment...i mean...i know its diverse everywhere but when i think of a country i generally think of whoever is mainly associated w/ it (ie: mexico=brown, america=white, canada=white, africa=black)...every single one of those places is diverse but m dogg just made me realize that i really dont think about americans as a whole...i mean i do but when i picture an american in my head i picture about a 40 year old white guy in a suit w/ a breifcase on his way to work ya know?
