« on: January 28, 2005, 03:23:15 AM »

Hittman is not a real person. He was a computer program generated by Dr. Dre and Mel Man back in the mid 90's. When Dre started treating Mel-Man like shit, Mel infiltrated the computer and put a virus in the hittman program

Aside from the ones already mentioned, I can't really think of any more. Though I did read this article once where Mike Elizondo was interviewed, and he revealed that the "Family Affair" instrumental that Dre gave to Mary J. Blige, was originally recorded in late 2000-early 2001 for Rakim to use.
** And the beat for 50 Cent's "Heat" was originally for Rakim as well.

i can't really picture rakim over family affair tho... and heat.. like rakim said the problem was dre wanted him to do some gangsta shit and rakim didn't want that.. creative differences.. wasn' that what made them split? or did i get somethin wrong

well Rakim got all of the tracks he recorded while he was on the Math and he needs to put that shit out even tho it may not be his best material coz we´ve been waiting for another album from the god mc for a long fuckin time and he needs to listen to his fans coz mofos really been fiending for some Ra shit for too long.

Word.

Rakim has kicked gangsta shit before, on "Know the Ledge" which came out back in '91. That was best he ever did IMO.
Being a LAKER is a privilige. Unfortunately some "Lakers" have forgotten that.

I always thought that Rakim would rhyme very nicely on that slower tempo shit that Dre's occasionally put out in recent years...the beat "In Da Hood" that was given to 50, would've been perfect for Ra. "G'd Up" comes to mind too, that slow grimy material would've suited Rakim nicely.

^^^ Yup Straight Up Up! The Instrumentals Dre Gave Eminem For "Encore" Could HAve Been Perfect For Ra Too, It Was Dissapointing To Hear Those Beats Get Farted and Burped On, That "Big Weenie" Shyt Was Wacik AS FUCK, But The Beat Is Bangin! Same With "Rain Man", "MOsh" Rakim Over Them Beats Would AHve Been Nice! Shyt Even Eminem, actually Rhyming Would Have Been Nice!

word i always pictured the g'd up beat as something dre did for rakim....even if he didnt, it just always came to mind when it was runnin, dres dark beats are sick, but he only uses them mostly on east coast niggaz apart from the one start from scratch beat, all his dark shit goes to 50,g unit n probably busta, if u remember back on genesis(holla).........yo some of y'all need to check that joint again by the way, i always was diggin that joint but i was checkin it again the other week and it sounded even better today....pretty much all of the shit dre did on the wash ost sounded crazy the other week for some reason.....

i wonder what happened to rakim, i was gona post somethng about it in the outbounds since he said he started his own label n shit.....but nuttins happened........and does he have the tracks he recorded at aftermath or does aftermath own the shit 2?

Rakim did that song with Alicia Keys and Nas too.  Streets of NY, or NY State of Mind, whatever the hell it is.

if u want something even more trippy, well mike elizondo said that In Da Club was intended for another Aftermath artist months before they recorded it with 50, but that artist "passed up on it." thats probably rakim because i dont really know any other aftermath artist around that time that dre would be working so closely with.

edit: found it

"“[Dre & I] actually wrote the track six months before, but the artist we were working on at the time passed on it,” recalled Elizondo. “But we felt strongly about the track, so we stashed it away until we played it for 50 (Cent). He loved it, and he fiercely started writing the lyrics. About an hour later, 50 had written the entire lyric. He came back in the room and started singing (the now famous intro) ‘Go Shorty, it’s your birthday, we’re gonna party like, it’s your birthday’.” Notably, “In Da Club” also turned out to be the first cut which Elizondo received a production credit with Dr. Dre. He is now credited as producer (with Dr. Dre) on all of their cuts together."
