Why wasn't the original version of California Love on All Eyes on Me?

I remember when I bought this album on tape way back in '96 and I was somewhat disappointed that the original version of California Love wasn't on there. Why did they put the remix on there instead? Also does anyone remember the video for the remix? The remix video was better than the original video I thought. E40 was all up in the video.

I wonder if anyone knows the story as to why the remix and not the original was put on the album.

it was released on the how do u want it single..

i think they seperated it from the album to sell more copies of the single which they did.. i think the single went 2xplatinum

the version on how do u want it single is not the full version rather a shortened radio version

the remix is way better.  the remix is like 10x better.  and the main thing that sold "how do you want it" is "hit em up". there is a cali love cd single, maybe that has the full version

i got an older rip and theres the original cali love on it (but i guess it was the radio edit)
on my copy there is just the remix maybe cause its the "digital remastered" one. let me
look for that cali love single. i got that somewhere (the white label one).
