The Biggest mistake Rakim ever made was joining Aftermath.
« on: February 09, 2003, 05:25:22 AM »
How long has he been there now and still no album.

If it takes dre this long to be happy with his own work and release a Rakim album then dre is a fool.

Why the hell can ppl like Rza/Timberland/Quik/premo/L.E.S/ etc release albums/beats constantly over the years which are of high standard and dre can't even do half that.

Had Rakim simply stayed on the east coast and got ppl like like i mentioned above and odd tracks by dre and others, we would have had a album released AGES ago.

The 2 or so beat that he put on 50Cents album were borderline average, And that is suppose to be his new "Detox" sound, what a joke.

I'll give dre his props for what he did in the Ruthless/Death Row era. The work he did was stunning, but what he's doing now and at the INCREDIBLY slow rate he's doing it at ain't that good.

By the time dre gets off his ass and releases Ra's album, Ra will have to retire and not be able to capitalise on whatever success he gets coz he'll so fucking old.

Actually I was speaking to someone that promotes funding partnerships for people hiring studio time and he was speaking to someone (not a rapper) that was given material from Dre to mix and sing over and it wasn't his normal signature sound your used too hearing.

I've also heard his Detox is a story of his life and will feature different souunds from his life - ie, you will heard deathrow sound, ruthless sound, aftermath sound, new sound etc

no one can make up their mind....everyone complains albums these days are too rushed, too many producers, guest spots, etc. and when you hear artists are doin what you say you want, you gotta bitch about that too. will you ever be happy? for christ sake half of you don't even buy the music you complainin about u download it.

iraq would just get annexed by iran

That would be a great solution.  If Iran and the majority of Iraqi's are pleased with it, then why shouldn't they do it?

Even though it's been a long time since Rakim joined the label, I think it's too early to say wether it was a mistake or not. We just gotta wait for the album. That'll tell the truth.

we cant really judge if Rakim signing to aftermath until his album drops or he gets dropped from the label - whatever happens.

i believe we will see a Rakim album sooner then most of us expect and it should be dope - even though i would like for dre to work quicker who really cares? you talk about all these other producers, arent their beats good enough to tide you over until dre does drop beats?

I think Dre is being an idiot and his plan is going to backfire.  Hes taking his sweet ass time making an album (for someone else) and all its doing it getting our hopes up, when really, its only going to let us down in the long-run.  Its really ashame if he actually is turning down premo beats when it takes him 3 fuckin years to release an album for one of the greatest MC's ever.
