Early, this morning, Rockstar released the first plot summary of GTA: SA, which confirmed its early 1990s millieu. Here it is vertbaim:

"Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.

On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets."

All the information released by Rockstar indicate that the controversial Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has not lost the rough-and-ready nature of its predecessors. GameSpot will have more on this highly anticipated title--which is due in Q4 2004--as they become available.

In the other post, I compared Halo 2's graphics to GTA:SA's graphics.  It doesn't matter what kind of game it is (action, rpg, racing, etc...), graphics are graphics in any game.  GTA San Andreas CANNOT compare to Halo 2's graphics...Halo 2's graphics are far superior.

But I guess you don't need good graphics when you're playing a pointless game like this.

Now heres a game IMO thats over-rated.  Don't get me wrong, the game looks good, but not that good.  In all the GTA games, you're a criminal who's working his way up the crime ladder, trying to become the boss.  IMO the only thing that made the GTA games worth playing was the ability to steal cars and drive em...thats it.

Oh well...at the end of the day it's all about what kind of games you like to play.  A PS2 person would say the best game is GTA VC or GTA 3, an Xbox person would say the best game is Halo, and a PC person would say Half Life.  I'm all about FPS's, which is probably why I think the GTA series is like beating a dead horse.

Especially in Halo. Unless you were outside, all the places you were in looked EXACTLY THE FUCKING SAME. Got boring as FUCK.

And I don't care how overrated this may be or how much they're doing the same thing as before - you can't fucking stop me from getting this. Both screenshots and the artwork look dope as fuck. Plus it's set in the timeframe when it was all about that West Coast gangsta shit. I've seen only three screenshots and I'm hyped as fuck. Lowriders - both cars and bikes - dope dope dope. Looks like this title is gonna be full of attitude. I'm all for that.

i like how some people's arguement is that GTA just get a graphical upgrade but everything else stays them same....and they base this off of a handful of halo 2 and GTA: SA pics.

so far in the Halo 2 pics i see maybe one or two new skins, upgraded graphics, a new weapon and new maps.....

in the GTA pics i see upgraded graphics, improved driveby's, new vehicles, new characters and new maps

This game is about stealing cars (illegal) and killing people (illegal).  Wow...great game there...

People can't wait for the drive-bys, lowriders, cruisin in the 'hood, and being a gangsta (like how so many middle-class black people wanna be).
