dope track "Word on tha Streets" is a personal classic of mine...I remember it came out maybe a week or 2 before "Kuruption!" came out...copped them both at HMV records in NYC
Yep exactly we are on the same page then. That was a strange era because Def Jam and Bad Boy had blown up and we were all just waiting for the West Coast to drop something big. It seemed like every release was going to be that one. Like who was gonna be the one to put the West back on top? Waited all 97’ nobody did it. 98… King T, no. Snoop, no. Daz put out an album good enough but for whatever reason it didn’t sell. Then it was Kurupt and Bad Azz turn in October 98’ that was the month. It was kind of more of the same though. Dope albums but not enough to put the West back on top.
definitely...I think Antra dropped the ball with "Kuruption!" though...Kurupt coming off a single that is probably a top 10 GOAT west coast track and they follow it up with I believe it was "Gimmewhachagot"off the East Coast Disc...I remember seeing the video on BET and was like WTF?...it was basically Kurupt and Barshawn freestyling on stage over a subpar production...I don't think this dude Barshawn ever made another song...by the time they dropped the "Ask Yourself a Question" video the momentum from "We Can Freak It" had long died down an pretty much was a wrap for that album commercially
