1. Eminem-i really really enjoy his shit. plus everything he's done has been finely crafted and perfect

2. Andre 3000- i'm glad i wasn't the first to mention him, because yeah, dude deserves his dues, the love below is the record of the year as far as i'm concerned. also i think i'd put him at number one if he did some outside production. but yeah his shit was on some quincy jones type shit. MAJOR props to the OTHER dre.

other than that i don't feel anyone else deserves a proper prop....dre, timbo, not enough material. neptunes, just blaze, kanye , r kelly, it all sounds the same on the radio hear lately so i can't fully give props.

#1: Kanye West: I liked as good as every beat I've heard from him and some of them fuckin amazed me; he worked for many artists and always managed to make a beat not only dope but also unique and fitting the song perfectly. 2003's no. 1

#2: Lil' Jon: Everything he did was bangin...not much more to say. Can't stop bumpin "I Don't Give A Fuck"

#3: Primo: The Ownerz. Nuff said

Honorable Mentions: Andre (Bad singer, but great producer), Eminem (improved alot), Neptunes (omnipresent), Stoupe (Rip The Jacker), David Banner ("Like A Pimp" and many more dope songs on his album), Dre (especially cuz of his beats on "Cheers")

1. Dr.Dre - His work on ''Get Rich Or Die Tryin'', his work on obie trice ''Cheers''.
Remember Shit Hits the fan. Tight beats on the g-Unit album. And good beats for the eve album. The producer of the year for me.

2. Battlecat - He had very tight beats on the booya album.

3. Dj Premier - The Ownerz

9th Wonder - He produced the album of the year, The Listening, did a nice job with God's Stepson and started the album remixing trend, the Justus League mixtapes that were released this year were very good and finally his big appearance with "Threat".

Da Beatminerz - They were involved greatly in three of the year's most slept-on albums.  Duckdown's compilation Collect Dis Edition, The Last Emperor's Music, Magic, Myth and ofcourse Black Moon's Total Eclipse.  "Stay Real" is one of the best singles of the year.

Eminem - He lacing 50 Cent's album with a few nice cuts, Obie Trice as well.  Redman's "Talking To Dead People", Boo Yaa Tribe's "911", Jay-Z's "Moment Of Clarity", the three 2Pac songs also.  Say what you want, I think most of his beats were very nice.

As for Lil' Jon, I can't put him there cause "Quick To Back Down" is the only song of his that I heard.  The Neptunes didn't catch my ear with any hot songs (but they did with some shitty ones, example: "Change Clothes & Go".)  Kanye West is a good choice but I didnt' listen to the Dipset or Freeway albums.   Stoupe is a good choice too, he made some nice beats on those two albums, it's just too bad the MCing wasn't up to par on them.   Dr. Dre was all quality but there just wasn't too much quantity.

Kayne West - Especially loved his stuff on The Black Album. Basically the same reasons as SGV.

Eminem - His stuff on 50's album, the Pac mixes, Obie's album, a dope beat on Jigga's album... The biggest reason for me though is the growth he's displayed. There's simply no comparison with the quality of beats of the stuff he does now and the stuff he did before.

Dr. Dre - I had to consider quite a few people here. Granted, Dre wasn't the most productive guy this year, but what he did produce was straight heat! Wicked stuff on Obie's album, the G-Unit album and of course 50's album. I mean who the fuck didn't love In Da Club? It wasn't just a favourite with hip-hop fans, everybody fuckin' loved it.

Gotta mention a few other people too - 9th wonder, Primo, definately Andre 3000, Timbaland.

Had Just Blaze only produced "What We Do" I'da gave him high regards. But, he drowned that MASTERPIECE with garbage from all over the place.

Also, another producer: Brotha Lynch Hung. He did an amazing job on Lynch By Inch. Wish he would've done more.

My list is almost identic with T-Dizzog:

1. Kanye West -
2003 made him a really big name, even if he got a big buzz after "Blueprint", 2003 showed his diversity, and lots of different types of beats. A producer for the future.

2. Dr.Dre -
Dope work on Obie, G-Unit, 50 Cent, MJ Blige..
Best producer on every CD he touches, could easily be @ 1st place as well.

3. DJ Premier -
The Ownerz, new Royce single, & just the thought of M.O.P. collabos in 2004... :-*

Honoroable mentions:

Eminem - The dude everybody loves to hate..
Tight work on Obie, 50, 2Pac, etc... 2003 was the year he really made a impact as producer for other artists.

Stoupe - Great work on Canibus, and pretty cool on JMT..

Scott Storch - Been really active this year, hopefully he'll put in work on the upcoming Mobb Deep & Eminem CD's too..

Timbaland - Everywhere.. all over Bubba & Missy LP's, plus his own project.
Stellar beat for Jigga as well, but need to work more with non-Missy projects..

My #1 is definitely Stoupe. He did great work this year and was involved in two of the best releases of 2003: "Rip The Jacker" and "Visions Of Ghandi". Furthermore he did two classic-beats in my eyes: "Poet Laureate II" and "Animal Rap".

My #2 is Kanye West for the same reasons as SGV mentioned before.

My #3 is Eminem. Although many people hate on his productions, he did great work on "8 Mile", and after that on "Get Rich Or Die Tryin", "Cheers", "The Black Album", etc.

^fuck yea Stoupe is the shit and he's only gettin' better and better. No1 is doin' beats like him right now. His shit is original and fresh and it's pure hiphop. He's like the next Premo to me. I also agree wit Kanye but Eminem hell muthafuckin' no! hE is the worst producer i've ever heard and all his beats are lame and boring to me... Just curious but what is it that u see in Em's beats??? There terrible... 3rd i'd have 2 go wit my man Alchemist. Alchemist is the shit. The Cutting Room Floor and Insomnia were both sick as fuck. He also laced Bang Bang on Big Noyd's album. It's actually pretty old cuz i had that shit like 2 years ago but it finally got released officially. He also produced that banger Turn It Up on Sheek's album.

^^ I chose Eminem because he came up this year and was nearly everywhere with his productions (Nas, Jay-Z, 2Pac, 50 Cent, Obie Trice, etc.). I agree that you can recognize a Eminem beat out of 100 beats, but I don't see this as a bad aspect, because SGV for example listed the Neptunes, although I can recognize a Neptunes beat out of 100 beats too (but I have to agree that their production for that Baby/Clipse collabo was tight). And Eminem had many great beats, I especially love that new one for 2Pac's "Runnin'". And this new style he came up with at the time of "8 Mile" was very tight, I love the soundtrack and the Shady tracks he did the last time.

1-kanye west - his productions gone from sick beats to sick beats that gon make a hit..........his shits been hittin this year no doubt

2 - r kelly - he produced and wrote 30 hits this year man, thats amazing...........i guess since the kids now know about him, he got more time to do make hits instead of doin porn cuts with 14 yr olds

3 - alicia keys - shes easily the most talented cat outside hip hop now imo.....that includes niggaz, she writes, produces and when ya can come out with two str8 sick cds.......and make the 2nd jus as good, if not better than your first, u mad tite, i dont usually rate chicks but she got serious talent

4 )dr dre - nigga didnt do enought joints imo outside his camp but damn, in da club puts him on the list alone..........jome put it best, every cd he comes on, he comes out the sickest, he makes other cats look weak

watch out for fredwreck y'all if he gets a chance to get his beats out, he got mad potentail to blow to, his gettin better n better like kanye

peace
