.......................................................................................... Damizza Book Release Confirmed + Exclusive Excerpts - By : Rud - November 23, 2011

Earlier this year we alerted you to the news that Damizza was getting ready to release his long awaited book - that had been held up by Mariah Carey's attorneys - as well as a new LP [see; EXCLUSIVE: Damizza Readies New LP & Long Awaited Book].
Well as promised in August Damizza dropped "MCSB" via iTunes featuring the street single with Bishop Lamont and Indef entitled Mortimer & Randolph produced by Los and U Can't See Me featuring Knoc-Turn'Al.
Today we are back on the book tip as, just like Damizza stated in our last update, he is releasing it just before Christmas on December 14th and we have just received the official press release from the man himself.
"His name is Damion “Damizza” Young, you may not have heard of him but maybe you’ve heard of some careers he launched, like; Eminem & Biggie Smalls, and revived the careers of Snoop Dogg & Mariah Carey. After being in the music industry for over 25 years Damizza is ready to share how his music skills brought artists to life, and how those same skills almost took his own life in his book "Guilty By Association."
Damizza has worked in nearly every area in music but he is most recognized as a producer for hits such as “Crybaby” and “I Still Believe” by Mariah Carey. He has also produced for other renown artists such as; Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, and even Korn! But all this success came with a price. His substance addictions caused his career to spin out of control.
The book is filled with candid stories, one of the most compelling is, how he managed to have Snoop Dogg perform in NY with Jay-Z just three months after Biggie’s death in hopes of squashing the East Coast/West Coast beef. Because of this, Irv Gotti credits Damizza as the person who “built a bridge” in bringing the East and West together.
Some of the other intriguing stories are; his time backstage with Michael Jackson, his conversation with Biggie just hours before he died, and how he single-handedly convinced Snoop and Dre to agree to “The Chronic 2001”.
The book has also led to subsequent legal issues due to a tabloid uproar concerning his romantic relationship with Mariah Carey, which was never his intent. Since then, Mariah has read the chapter that involves her and told Damion that, “she doesn’t have a problem with it.”
When asked why he felt this book was important, Damizza had this to say, "I want people to understand the truth of what they’re getting into when they’re seduced by the excess of this business. I’ve been blessed to be in the room when some of the biggest decisions in music were made, and I believe that it’s my duty to pass these stories along. What means the most for me is to show the human reality of the music business."
Damizza also announced that he will release the book is offering the book free of charge, in order to disprove allegations that he’s doing this for profit. It is co-written by world-renown author J. Marshall Craig and will be available on December 14th through DamizzaBook.
"Guilty By Association" truly tells the success and failures of one man's music career from a unique standpoint - the man himself.
Damizza has kindly granted Dubcnn.com the honor of releasing EXCLUSIVE book excerpts in the lead up to the release date. We've just received the Dr. Dre chapter and next week we will be releasing and excerpt from it to whet the appetite - stay locked to Dubcnn! Whatup Damizza!Discuss This Topic

Born in Los Angeles, CA, and raised in the rough streets of Compton, emerges Tri Star, arguably the West Coast’s most versatile rapper in the underground scene. At a young age, surviving in the hard knock streets of Compton, Tri Star found himself in trouble often. Confined to a small room, with only a radio to befriend, he fell in love with hip-hop music and the seed was planted. His love for the art eventually grew and transcended into a talent for rapping.
In 1995 he founded a group called The Anterazh, consisting of three artists: himself, Young Tone and Slo. Since then, Tri Star has collaborated with several heavy-hitters like Kurupt, Sir Jinx, Jayo Felony, Rodney O, and Daz Dillinger to name a few. He has also has appeared on several heavily distributed mixtapes such as “Cali Untouchables” and Kurupt’s “War Vol. 1” with DJ Strong, the “Damizza Mixtape” with Damion Young & Baby Ree Entertainment, and “Belly of the Beast” with multi-platinum, west coast producer Sir Jinx.
Tri Star is currently putting out a solo album with Sir Jinx, with features from Kurupt, Roscoe, Brother J of X-Clan, with production handled from the multi-platinum Ice Cube & Xzibit producer Sir Jinx. Check out the video below:

.......................................................................................... Cals, YG & Bobby Brackins "Somethin About Your Body" - By : Nima - November 16, 2011

Home of street reputables such as Mitchy Slick and Jayo Felony, San Diego, CA, has been on the map for while, but never on a mainstream level. This is about to change, as a young artist from the city has rapidly been grinding his way up the hit lists and club rotations.
His name is Cals and at 25 years old, he already has some experience in the music industry. He started rapping in his early teens, but it was not until age 21 that he recovered from a broken neck he suffered at 17 that he took his gift seriously and stuck with music.
"A few years ago, everything I was doing was real life, real pain, real struggle. Now, I'm doing more feel good music that people can vibe to, from Hip-Hop, Pop to R&B. You can't put me in a box."
Being a relentless networker, Cals has already collaborated with some of Hip-Hop and R&B's heavy hitters and released his debut album "Still Standing" earlier this year, spawning collaborations with N.O.R.E. and Styles P.
For 2012, Cals is getting ready to turn it all the way up. His new single "Somethin About Your Body" is buzzing on the blogs and the clubs alike, as radio stations across the country have been picking it up. The song was produced by Paco Swartz and features Def Jam signee YG, crooner Bobby Brackins as well as Cals' protege Ethan Avery.
Cals describes the single as follows: "My artist Ethan Avery showed me the record and I loved it right away. It was a feel good West Coast record and I felt like nobody has a song like this out right now. It's new with an old school West Coast feel."
With "Somethin About Your Body" picking up steam, Cals already has the next single in the chamber ready for blast off. This one, called "Digits", also features YG and Bobby Brackins, along with West L.A.'s rising star Mann ("Buzzin'", "The Mack"). The singles are off Cals' upcoming solo album "Paper Trail Gang", which is currently slated for an early 2012 release. Besides YG, Mann and Bobby Brackins, other features on the album will include N.O.R.E. and Grafh.

.......................................................................................... Exclusive Interview With Jewell - By : Chad - November 16, 2011

Former Death Row Records singer/songwriter Jewell has sung the choruses to several Death Row classic records during the early-to-mid 90’s, including some of their biggest hits, and was known as "The First Lady of Death Row Records”.
Signed to Death Row Records as their first original artist from 1992-1996, Jewell more than held her own among the other inmates of Death Row by blending her smooth, talented vocal abilities with the G-funk-infused gangsta productions to Death Row albums like "The Chronic", “Doggystyle”, "Dogg Food", "All Eyes On Me" , “Above The Rim” and "Murder Was The Case" , where she also had a Billboard Hot 100 charting hit with "Woman to Woman”.
On Monday, November 21, 2011, WIDEawake/Death Row Records will release the album "Jewell". The never-before-released tracks from the Death Row vault showcase the artist’s undeniable talent and edge, while digging into her Gospel roots.
Dubcnn recently caught up with Jewell for an exclusive interview to discuss her time at Death Row Records, what it was like working on “The Chronic”, how she broke into the music industry, who her musical influences were, being in the middle of the NWA/Ice Cube feud, and so much more!

.......................................................................................... Exclusive Interview With Rick Rock - By : Chad - November 14, 2011

Multi-platinum producer Rick Rock may not have the marquee name like Dr. Dre, Timbaland, Kanye West and others, but he has been one of the most reliable and employed West Coast rap producers of his time. Born in Alabama, but based in California, Rick Rock began earning major credits in 1996 when he contributed tracks to 2Pac’s “All Eyez On Me" and E-40's “Hall Of Game”.
In the years to follow, he’s cranked out productions mainly for west coast rappers like Spice 1, and Xzibit; however, he’s also worked with mainstream artists like Will Smith, Fabolous, Method Man, Lisa Lopez, and Mariah Carey among others. Dubcnn sat down with the west coast heavy-hitter for a little Q&A to discuss his upcoming project, “Rocket”, producing for 2Pac, working with long-time collaborator E-40, possibly getting some work in with the 4-man collective - Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I and Royce Da 5'9 – known as Slaughterhouse, and much more.

.......................................................................................... Microphone Masters Radio: Episode 32 (Heavy D RIP) - By : Rud - November 14, 2011

This episode of the Microphone Masters Radio Show with J-Luv and Blaze Rock finds the fellas in a reflective mood after the passing of Hip Hop legend Heavy D. In sports the term great can be overused and in entertainment the label legend is often applied incorrectly, but for Heavy D the label is very appropriate.
You’ll hear music from J. Cole, DJ Quik, Heavy D, Casual, Mobb Deep, The RZA, Stack Bundles and more.
Whenever a highly anticipated album is nearing release it is only a matter of time before the project is leaked. Such is the case with Drake and his new project.
So J-Luv asks Blaze if he thinks leaks have a dramatic impact on the money driven bottom line. And on the heels of the Marquez V. Pacquiao fight the dynamic duo debate the decision of the judges. Do you think Marquez was robbed?
Lastly, as Thanksgiving approaches that means that waistlines everywhere will be increasing...or does it? J and Blaze say they will do their best to avoid the pitfalls of the Turkey Day smorgasbord but they discuss the foods they are looking forward to feasting on in moderation.

.......................................................................................... Mistah F.A.B. Preps "I Found My Backback 2" For Dec. 6th - By : Nima - November 10, 2011

Bay Area-famed rapper Mistah F.A.B. will release the follow-up to his early-2011 project “I Found My Backpack” with “I Found My Backpack 2 – The Lost Notebook” on December 6th, 2011.
Having juggled with different fan bases his entire career - from the street crowd to complex lyricists - F.A.B. is using his "I Found My Backpack" series to prove that he is not only one of the best freestylers around but also a gifted songwriter. The Prince Of The Bay called on to an impressive all-star cast of lyricists to come join him on the project: Talib Kweli, Jadakiss, Royce Da 5’9, Noreaga, Prodigy, Rapper Big Pooh, Andre Nickatina, San Quinn, The Grouch and Erk Tha Jerk are some of the MC's featured on "I Found My Backpack 2".
About the new album, Fabby Davis Jr. explains, “I did a project earlier this year called ‘I Found My Backpack,’ and it actually did well. A lot of people liked it, and it didn’t sell like a miraculous amount of numbers. But what it did was, it made people who may not have been familiar with my ability to do things like that kinda go, ‘Dude can really rap rap!’ So I followed it up with part 2, and part 2 is like on steroids. It’s dope, man.”
For the past decade, Mistah F.A.B. has been steadily making noise in the Bay Area and expanding his buzz to a national level along with the Hyphy movement. Though that movement has long been put to a halt, it has not impeded Mistah F.A.B. in the least bit. With his “I Found My Backpack” album receiving positive ratings from critics, he is ready to repeat that success with the sequel – “I Found My Backpack 2 – The Lost Notebook.”
“When you listen to my records, you never know what you’re going to get. But to me, I utilize it more to my advantage than a curse, because it’s actually a gift,” says Mistah F.A.B. “Nowadays when you listen to rap, all rappers sound the same. I think that I’ve embodied and taken full advantage of my ability to sound different on every song.”
Fans will get the opportunity to hear songs from throughout the spectrum on “I Found My Backpack 2: The Lost Notebook” – from street music, to party songs to political raps. His unexpected death at the age of 44 has been well documented across news outlets and online with tributes pouring in for the Jamaican-born American actor, rapper, record producer, singer and former leader of Heavy D & the Boyz.
His as yet unexplained death occurred within hours of being taken to hospital with breathing problems and only hours after he wrote to his followers on Twitter, "BE INSPIRED!"
