.......................................................................................... Eminem Releases New Single "Not Afraid" (Audio) - By : Nima - April 29, 2010

Eminem spoke to Angela Yee today about his upcoming album "Recovery", which is set to drop June 22nd. Check out the article below, courtesy of MTV.com:
"Eminem has said that when he opened up his planned album Relapse 2 to a variety of producers, he was inspired to not just change the direction of the LP, but rethink the project completely: He buried the Relapse sequel and started working on Recovery, which will be out on June 22.
"I kinda went back to the lab on that whole concept," Em told radio personality Angela Yee on her Shade 45 show "The Morning After," on Thursday (April 29). "As I started getting to work with different producers and sh--, the very sound changed and I kinda turned the corner."
Em rattled off an impressive array of trackmasters that he secured for Recovery, including Dr. Dre, DJ Khalil, Boi-1da — who produced the album's first single, "Not Afraid," which debuted Thursday — and Havoc from Mobb Deep.
"He sent me a couple of tracks," Em, a huge Mobb Deep fan, said of Havoc. "They were both cool, but one of them was that sh-- and I had to do something to it. I'm just happy I got to work with him."
Jim Jonsin (T.I., Lil Wayne) also worked on the LP. "He was open to ideas," Jonsin told Mixtape Daily. "He was real respectful to my craft. He let me do what I do. He asked me ideas on some of the lyrics. We had ideas for lyric changes. Certain words may or may not work on radio. We talked about that. He had a setup outside of the room to do production, but I'd rather be in the room where he was at, and he was cool with that. And I knocked out a couple of joints in there while he was in there with me. He was pretty open and he let me do my thing. He did his thing. It was a pretty good experience.
"We touched on something that I haven't done anything like that before," Jonsin added. "It's unique in a way for myself. It's a place I've been wanting to go, and I'm so happy he allowed it to go down. He played a huge part in the record. Without him on it, it's not the same. I don't wanna give up too much about what it is and what direction."
Slim Shady told Yee that Recovery is diverse and doesn't have a uniform sound.
"There's a variety of different things, different moods and things like that on there," he said of the LP. "There's not just one overall sound. It's a bunch of different sh--."
Another surprise Em dropped about the album: For the first time, he will not have any skits. The often-hilarious segments had become a hallmark of Slim Shady's albums."
Listen to the single, "Not Afraid", below:
Eminem - Not Afraid (Prod. by Boi 1da)
A few days ago, Em also dropped a ferocious freestyle of him ripping Drake's "Over" beat and Lloyd Banks' "Beamer Benz Bentley":

.......................................................................................... City Haze Interview - By : Chad - April 28, 2010

A couple of months ago rising Brooklyn emcee City Haze leaked a track off his upcoming EP, Star of the City, called “Lost In Tokyo” where he metaphorically takes hip hop on a winding voyage from the genre’s birthplace in New York to the land of the rising son, Japan, with the help of Wu-Tang Clan beatsmith Rza that awestruck hip hop’s blogosphere.
It’s safe to say the song marked Haze’s arrival as a player on hip hop’s landscape. If that isn’t enough, the young emcee has already garnered the attention of Universal Music Group who has provided him with distribution for his ladies hit “Tell Me What’s Good” via iTunes.
In a brief period of time City Haze has already position himself as an artist to be reckoned with. With the impeding release of his EP coming this May, a modest Haze says he’s only getting started and has much more to accomplish in his career. Read our interview with Haze as we talk about “Lost In Tokyo,” his deal with Universal and who he’s feeling out West.

Growing up in South Los Angeles, as a child of a single parent, Annimean ventured into the streets for guidance. In December 2006 Annimean was released from state prison after a 7 year term for two accounts of assault with a deadly weapon.
Hungry to rap and ready for a new lifestyle, Annimean stayed with his family who attended the Musician's Institue in Hollywood. From there Annimean put together a 5 track demo and began performing at local show cases around the greater Los Angeles area.
Two years later, Annimean has worked with some of the biggest dj's and artists in the west coast. Such artists include Rakka from Dilated Peoples, Glasses Malone, Roccett, Jay Rock, LaLa, Hot Dollar, Guerilla Black, Bad Azz, as well as several underground artists, and Dj's including DJ Ill Will, Money J, Flipcyde, DJ Clean and DJ Raze One.

.......................................................................................... New Dubcnn Column: "Is It Me... Or Do I Smell Some Ish?" - By : Nima - April 21, 2010

Dubcnn is very excited to announce a brand new music column that will be debuting in May 2010 called "Is It Me.. Or Do I Smell Some Ish?", that will give our readers a behind the scenes look at the recording industry.
Launched by the heavyweight entertainment industry executive Stan Sheppard, the column will give an in-depth look at the deals being made across the country, the politics behind making those deals and their potential for success in the marketplace. For our readers who are not familiar with Stan Sheppard, we will list his accomplishments below.
Stan Sheppard first started out as a writer/producer in the 1980's at Island Records. While there, he wrote/produced the label's first #1 R&B single on the Neo-Soul group By All Means. The group went on to have two Gold records worldwide. In 1990, Sheppard was given a multi-million dollar deal with Motown Records and while there he wrote/produced two number one R&B songs and four Top 10 singles on the Grammy Award winning R&B acts Gerald Alston and The Temptations.
While at Motown, his recordings sold over 10 million units worldwide. In 1994, Sheppard was hired by the world famous Jackson Family to be the co-president of the family's entertainment division which he ran with his life-long friend Jermaine Jackson.
In 1996, Sheppard entered the field of Rap Music where he established the West Coast Rap Music powerhouse label Sheppard Lane Records with Tony Lane. This label/management company directed the careers of figures like DJ Quik, DJ Battlecat, Suga Free and Mausberg amongst others.
Sheppard was also responsible for freeing DJ Quik and 2nd II None from their awful contracts at Profile Records and then negotiated a multi-million dollar deal for them at Arista Records with Mr. Clive Davis.
Sheppard was also responsible for uniting Snoop Dogg and DJ Quik on stage for a live performance for the first time in history. During his time at Sheppard Lane Records, Sheppards artists/producers sold over 20 million records world-wide. Sheppard, along with Power 106's then program director, Damion "Damizza" Young helped to establish Power 106 as a Rap music powerhouse and together they were responsible for bringing the stations number one air personality Big Boy to prominence as their morning time DJ. Sheppard and Young also conceived and launched the DJ Quik radio show at the station.
Now, I guess you can see why dubcnn is very excited to have Stan Sheppard on board. Stay tuned and get ready for some very interesting reading.
For more information on Stan Sheppard, check out dubcnn's interview with him back in November of 2008 by clicking here.Discuss This Topic
