.......................................................................................... Throwback Thursday: The D.O.C. - The Formula - By : Rud - May 31, 2012

Another day and another teaser in the build up to the soon to be unveiled DAILY WESTCOAST feature to be launched on Dubcnn in June. Over recent weeks you've had the Westcoast Wednesday feature with the Kurupt record I Thought You Knew featuring Krook and produced by Fingazz - which was an "unreleased/bonus" record from Kurupt's third solo studio LP "Space Boogie: Smoke Oddessey" released in 2001.
We followed that up with a Throwback Thursday special to celebrate a classic record from 1999 from Warren G's third studio album, "I Want It All." The Game Don't Wait (Remix) featuring fellow 213 members Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Xzibit over a Dr. Dre production and earlier this week brought you Paparazzi from Xzibit's debut album "At the Speed of Life" - released May 27, 1996 and produced by Thayod Ausar.
Last week we travelled back to 2000/2001 and dropped two songs from the two Snoop Dogg presented Eastsidaz albums; G'd Up (Feat. Butch Cassidy) and I Luv It and just yesterday for the latest Westcoast Wednesday we took you back to 1996 and the Westside Connection debut platinum selling LP "Bow Down" and its lead single of the same name; Bow Down!
Once again the response was off the charts and so on this Throwback Thursday we are taking you back once again - this time way back...to 1989 and the debut album of The D.O.C. - "No One Can Do It Better" which was released on June 16, 1989 and went on sell platinum during the 90s.
Tragically this was the only solo album The D.O.C. was able to record before a car accident resulted in crushing his larynx, permanently changing his voice - something The D.O.C. has touched on during Dubcnn exclusive interviews in December 2006, April 2008 Part 1, April 2008 Part 1 and most recently August 2011.
The third single from the album was "The Formula," produced by Dr. Dre and containing samples from Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)" - its to many the iconic record from the LP and we have it for you today

With so many artists capitalizing on the latest trends in rap, very few manage to successfully stand out and make a difference with their listeners and consumers. Today we have just such an exception, he goes by the name Truth 407 and this Orlando-based MC is coming out swinging.
Truth 407 dropped his latest mixtape entitled Brown Liquor and Swishers hosted by DJ Greg-G (Core DJ’s) recently and with his latest single "Crack Music" - which we have for you below - featuring Big K.R.I.T. already making big noise, there seems to be no signs of slowing down.
Although Truth 407 may sound new to a few of our readers he’s actually been on Dubcnn previously, via his work with WC's group Tha Trapp and the Block Music mixtape from 2007. Not only that but he also featured on "New West World Order 3" on the reggae-flavored cut Dreamz produced by Meech Wells & Tha Pusher.
Over the years, he has managed to capture the attention of some of the west coast elite and premier players in the hip-hop game. Right now he is working on several projects, one of which is called "The Revolution" which will boast production and verses from some of the west coast elite. .......................................................................................... Alphabit Drops "Heat Check" From "Despicable Bit" - By : Rud - May 28, 2012

Last year we introduced New L.A. Talent Alphabit and across 2011 we kept you up to date with the 22 year old SoCal emcee Alphabit, with his various releases.
Tracks including Home Of The Brave, Up Out My Face, Cheers and Take Off led to the released 18 track mixtape The TakeOff which we brought you in full for free download on Dubcnn.
That project, which featured production from Tekk, MidNite, Young Genius, J and Rob, James Lewis and of course AlphaBit himself, was his first step in getting his buzz up and in August he returned with the single Sun, Beach & Babes, a reworked version of Aaliyah's "Back & Forth" - produced by Ms Mello as well as music video for the record. A few weeks later we dropped off a new track called Running Game this time with R&Beast Rodney B and fellow SoCal emcee Gitem.
So far in 2012 AlphaBit has dropped the record Bomb Shit and then Trouble featuring fellow LA up-and-comer K-Boy - both of which were said to be from an upcoming release entitled "Despicable Bit."
"Despicable Bit" is almost ready for release and so today AlphaBit has dropped another teaser track, this time over the Ice Cube classic "Check Yo Self" called "Heat Check" - listen below.

As you might know, Bay Area duo Trey C and Playa Rae released their latest E.P. , "I.L.A.M. 2 (Independent Like A M#Fuka)" on May 8th 2012. The EP is now available on iTunes, Amazon and all digital retailers.
We have just received the video to my favorite song off the project, "California". The video is a documentation and testimony to the duo's independent grind in Cali - from shows, to photo shoots to hitting the road and beating down the pavement. Watch the "California" video below:
Trey C & Playa Rae - California (Video)
The "I.L.A.M. 2" EP has no features except for Yukmouth on the intro, which Playa Rae explains as follows: "Yuk has been a veteran in the game for 20+ years and he understands the concept behind what we're doing. He's also been on his independent grind for most of his career and he was the perfect person to introduce the project."
Trey C and Playa Rae will also be hitting the road soon for the "Covering Grounds 2" tour with SB, Krypto, Husalah and The Jacka of the Mob Figaz.

.......................................................................................... Big Tray Deee Pens From The Pen: Releases "Streetz Gon' Cry" - By : Rud - May 24, 2012

Dubcnn readers will know Tracey "Big Tray Deee" Davis as part of the legendary west coast rap group, Tha Eastsidaz alongside Snoop Dogg and Goldie Loc.
The group gained platinum success with their debut album, "Snoop Dogg Presents Tha Eastsidaz" but Tray Deee's rap career was halted in 2003 by a 12 year prison bid.
From his cell - and an introduction by JD of Ice Cube's legendary rap group "Da Lench Mob" - Tray Deee was introduced to incarcerated gangster turned author Anthony Barrow and together the two have penned "Streetz Gon' Cry" - a highly charged, fictional account of the King Crips and the Vernon Boys, who have an on-and-off rivalry. Both sets have their vision locked on controlling the cocaine trade in the Crenshaw District. Protagonist, Carter, a notorious, ride-or-die hustler from the Vernon Boys, is fresh out of the state penitentiary and on a mission to reclaim the streets. During his absence, acts of betrayal have placed his hood on the brink of implosion. With his mentor, Wolf, directing traffic from behind the walls of a federal prison, Carter plots his ultimate takeover to assume authority of the street's illicit cash flow. Plot twists and turns pump and jump like the hydraulics on '64 Chevy cruisin' Crenshaw Boulevard. It's a ride that will make you buckle up and hold on.
The book - which is published via LeNoir Publications is available now and Tray Deee recently said, "My rap skills are just the icing on the cake. As an author now, I can give my fans and readers an even clearer understanding of the underworld activities of the Wild West with much more intrigue and detail."
Ensure you check out Streetz Gon' Cry today. Missing some Tray Deee music? Check out I Beez Tha Hardest today via Dubcnn!Discuss This Topic

.......................................................................................... Stevie Stone - 808 Bendin' (ft. Tech N9ne) (Audio) - By : Nima - May 18, 2012

Tech N9ne protégé and longtime collaborator Stevie Stone is preparing for the release of his Strange Music debut album, "Rollin’ Stone". Due in stores June 12, the collection features the singles “808 Bendin,” “Get Buck” (whose video can be found on www.steviestone.com) and “Oneness.” Guests on the album include Tech N9ne, Yelawolf, Krizz Kaliko, Hopsin and reggae star Peter “Peetah” Morgan of Morgan Heritage.
Stone signing to Strange Music almost seemed predestined. In a remarkable twist of fate, Tech N9ne actually attended Stevie Stone’s first live performance.
“I knew he was dope back then,” Tech says. Tech and Stone met after that show several years ago and started developing a relationship. In 2009, Stone collaborated with Tech N9ne on the hard-hitting “Midwest Explosion” single and also appeared with Tech on the “K.O.D. .......................................................................................... P-Funk's Jerome "Bigfoot" Brailey Preps "Bigfoot & Bondz" - By : Chad - May 17, 2012

Parliament-Funkadelic and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member, Jerome “Bigfoot” Brailey, has an innovative album coming out through Hoopla Media Group / LRT / INgrooves Fontana called "The Lovinator Experiment" with his new group Bigfoot & Bondz.
Throughout the seventies, Brailey was the predominant backbeat of George Clinton’s P-Funk organization, sharing the rhythm chores with such luminaries as Bootsy Collins on bass, Bernie Worrell on keyboards and guitar legends Eddie Hazel, Gary Shider, Mike Hampton and Glen Goins. Along the way, Brailey had contributed to some of P-Funk’s most successful and memorable moments, with seven Gold and Platinum records to prove it. Who hasn’t heard of "The Mothership Connection", "Clones Of Dr Funkenstein", "Funkentelechy Vs The Placebo Syndrome" or "One Nation Under A Groove"? As well as contributing to output of Parliament-Funkadelic, Jerome was also to be heard on albums by Fred Wesley & The Horny Horns and Bootsy’s Rubber Band.
In 1992, the world witnessed the birth of G-Funk as pioneered by Dr. Dre on ”The Chronic” (Death Row Records), which leaned heavily on the P-Funk groove and is widely considered to one the greatest hip-hop albums of all-time. Bigfoot’s footprints can be heard on several of hip-hop’s greatest songs like “Potholes in My Lawn” by De La Soul, “Elevators” by Outkast, “Who Am I (What’s My Name)” by Snoop Dogg, “Let Me Ride” by Dr. Dre, “It’s Your Life” by Too Short, and “Pass The Mic” by the Beastie Boys -- as well as in countless songs by some of hip-hop’s most notable producers like Ant Banks, Sir Jinx, DJ Quik, Erick Sermon, Jermaine Dupri, and DJ Jazzy Jeff among others.
Now, Jerome “Bigfoot” Brailey would like to introduce his new strand of funk with Bondz dubbed "The Lovinator Experiment" because “Funk is about the rhythm within.” It’s safe to say that we all still want the Funk.
Be on the lookout for an exclusive interview with Jerome “Bigfoot” Brailey, as he breaks down several of his classic songs and sampled beats!

.......................................................................................... Throwback Thursday: Warren G, Xzibit, Snoop, Nate & Dr. Dre - By : Rud - May 17, 2012

Yesterday we hinted that we were gearing up to bring you a new DAILY WESTCOAST feature when we dropped off the Westcoast Wednesday drop that featured I Thought You Knew featuring Krook and produced by Fingazz - which was an "unreleased" record from Kurupt's third solo studio LP "Space Boogie: Smoke Oddessey" released in 2001
Today we are once again teasing you about the upcoming DAILY WESTCOAST feature with a Throwback Thursday special to celebrate a classic record from 1999!
"The Game Don't Wait Remix" was the second single released from Warren G's third studio album, "I Want It All." Although the original version on the LP only featured fellow 213 members Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg over a Warren production - the decision was taken to release a remix of the song as a single produced by Dr. Dre and also featuring Xzibit - we are celebrating Throwback Thursday today with that very same remix!

.......................................................................................... Anacron Drops "The Facelift 3: Cosmetic Characteristics" - By : Rud - May 17, 2012

Dubcnn first introduced readers to Anacron back in December 2007. Having released a hugely underrated album with Murs under the group name The Netherworlds in 2001, Anacron worked on projects including Cornrowz with Old Man Malcom, the original DJ from Garbage and Citizen King dropping tracks like Panties (Old Man Malcom Remix) with Murs plus solo material like Pneumonia (Way 2 Sicc) produced by Earmint, Club Etiquette and We Got The Beat alongside Irie of Pairograffs.
In mid 2008 the Los Angeles native dropped a free EP for Dubcnn readers that featured new material. The Anacron - Dubcnn EP featured 8 tracks of dope music - if you missed it, you might be four years late but its never too late!
Sadly it's been the same 4 years since that EP that Dubcnn have been silent on Anacron. In the years between he's dropped material including "Cornrowz: The Album That Never Was," the "Unscene Quartet EP," a string of singles as well as 3 instalments in a series of remix projects called "The Facelift."
"The Facelift 1: Fabricated Features" dropped in 2010, "The Facelift 2: ArtOfficial Attributes" in 2011 and earlier this year he dropped his third annual remix album where he once again took a set of existing records and reworked them; bending and sometimes breaking the original structure of tunes with mild to extreme crafting and arrangement. This years 12 track The Facelift 3: Cosmetic Characteristics saw him tackle cuts from Kokane, Nicki Minaj, DJ Quik and more.
You can get The Facelift 3: Cosmetic Characteristics for free now via BandCamp but we wanted to share with you two of the tracks from the release with some words from the man himself!
First up we have his take on "So West Coast" featuring MDA & Z-Man over the DJ Quik instrumental. "I feel that this is one of Quik's freshest beats, and I'm all about N. Cannon's original song concept... So I flipped it and sang a new hook, rapped a verse, and put my homies MDA & Z-Man (members of One Bloc Radius with Marty James) on it. The result took what Quik & Cannon started way further into the deepest pits of the West that aren't as well known," Anacron told Dubcnn.
Anacron - So West Coast (Anacron's Facelifted RMX) (Feat. MDA & Z-Man of One Block Radius) (Audio)
Next up we see him tackle the Kokane single "Twilight Zone." Anacron explained; "This was one of my top 3 most played songs of 2010. Since it was massively slept on but the message is still relevant, I gave the song a complete overhaul for 2012 and produced a completely new beat, added my own verse trade-off with Kokane, and redid the hook. Got the Twitter cosign on this one from Kokane himself, for the WIN."
Anacron - Twilight Zone (Feat. Kokane) (Anacron's Facelifted RMX) (Audio) Enjoy the new material and if you haven't yet go get The Facelift 3: Cosmetic Characteristics for free now via BandCamp!
You'll be pleased to know that this is the first of many updates ensuring we keep you up to date with Anacron from here on out, in fact tonight he is sub-headlining for King Fantastic - who incidentally dropped their SocioPoliticalPimpTalk EP on iTunes last week - at the Viper Room!Discuss This Topic
.......................................................................................... Lil Scrappy Drops "No Love" Single With Tocarra - By : Rud - May 17, 2012

Atlanta's own Lil Scrappy was first on Dubcnn in 2007 for the 40 Glocc collaboration record Gettin' Richer and its Music Video before appearing late last year to announce the upcoming release of his new album via a new recording venture.
In that update [see; Lil Scrappy Partners With J Wells' Bonzi Records] we let you know that Scrappy’s G-Sup imprint has partnered with S-Line - a company owned by Scappy’s manager Kevin Clark - had embarked in a joint venture with Bonzi Records, the label owned by platinum producer J Wells .
The new album - which as part of this deal will be distributed by Universal/Fontana - called "The Grustle " was set for an early 2012 release and the first single "Helicopter" featuring 2 Chainz and Twista hit iTunes accordingly.
"The Grustle" was delayed but today we can confirm the LP will drop on June 26 and today Lil Scrappy and Bonzi Records have released a second single entitled "No Love" - a perfect summer record inspired by a past relationship gone wrong. Scrappy has enlisted singer Tocarra to lend her vocals for the chorus over production by Nonstop - who is known for his work with E-40 and Layzie Bone - as well as dropping his What's Up video earlier this year.

In 2010 he also dropped a collaboration album with Cloudstorm Ent entitled "Westcoast Comrades" along with the single Destined To Shine featuring Hectic, Jokaboy, MDK and Big Swiisha over a production by Alnasty. .......................................................................................... Westcoast Wednesday: Kurupt Space Boogie Throwback! - By : Rud - May 16, 2012

We commented earlier this month that new solo music from Kurupt is always welcomed on Dubcnn but with his work over recent months on the DPG project and touring all we'd had was the "Kurupt Presents Penagon Rydaz" release and the DJ Quik featured Take It Off. Then last week we were treated to the Let Off record where he'd linked with Terrace Martin, ill Camille and TDE's own Jay Rock.
Today we aren't back with another NEW record but we are - thanks to a reminder from our dedicated Forum users - taking you back to 2001 for a record some of you may never have heard - or if you were with us back then; perhaps havent' bumped in some time!
"I Thought You Knew" - featuring Krook and produced by Fingazz - was an "unreleased" record from Kurupt's third solo studio LP "Space Boogie: Smoke Oddessey" released in 2001. We state "unreleased" as - although it didn't appear on any US or EU releases of the album it did features as the Japanese Bonus track when released there. We're dropping it now as part of our occasional Westcoast Wednesday and to serve as a teaser for a new DAILY WESTCOAST feature we'll be launching soon!
