Erotic D Sent To Prison - By : ChadKiser - September 30, 2008

As many of you know, Erotic D has encountered an unfourtunate turn of events. Late last week, the producer, known for his work with Dr. Dre, D.O.C., MC Breed and Six2, was given an 18-year prison sentence for a probation violation charge.
As it presently stands, Erotic has to serve a quarter of that sentence (about 4-4˝ years) to be eligible for parole. However, Erotic informed us today that they are appealing the decision and look forward to having the decision overturned.
Erotic D recently released his solo album, The Black Bruce Willis, and still has plans to release and promote all of the projects he mentioned in the 3-part interview we conducted with him (Part 1, Part 2,, Part 3) a couple months ago.
Stay tuned to dubcnn for updates on Erotic D. If you would like to write to Erotic and show him your support you can do that by writing to:

A few weeks ago we brought you a new Balance joint off his upcoming album "Unsigned Legend" called "New West", which featured Crooked I, X.O. and Juice (click here if you missed it). We've just received a new exclusive off the project, also featuring some high profile guests.
The Bay Area rapper reached out to Houston's own Chamillionaire and Young Money rapper Mack Maine to come join him on a remake of Celly Cel's all-time classic joint "It's Going Down". I hadn't listened to the song in a long time and the beat still sounds as fresh as it did on its first day.

.......................................................................................... Sen Dog's "Diary Of A Mad Dog" In Stores Today - By : Rud - September 30, 2008

As we reported on August 1st, 2008 - Sen Dog (aka Senen Reyes), the notorious co-frontman of hip-hop legends Cypress Hill, was gearing up to release his debut solo album "Diary of a Mad Dog" on September 30, 2008. Today is that day and - for once - the album drops right on time via Suburban Noize Records. Sen Dog's bark is louder than ever on his debut. Taking matters of money, faith and family to the music, Sen Dog sets out to unleash personal dramas in a no-holds-barred symposium that will shed insight into his life.
"Diary of A Mad Dog" is a cathartic release for the rabid emcee, but totally accessible to a ravenous audience eager for a solid Sen Dog assault. Artists set to feature on the album include Tangled Thoughts, DJ Ace, and even his Cypress Hill partner B-Real. ""I've done the whole dark, morbid thing and the whole rock n' roll crossover thing. I'm not going to have an agenda on this; I'm going to jam and record whatever is fun to me," says Sen Dog about his first ever solo offering. "With Cypress Hill I'm working with B-Real and DJ Muggs, but with my solo material it's a bit more of a challenge and more rewarding for me as a songwriter when I come up with tracks and they sound banging" he adds. "Diary Of A Mad Dog" is in stores and available online now. To hear more from the album check out Suburban Noize Records as well as Sen Dog's MySpace page.Discuss This Topic

.......................................................................................... Audio Update: DPG, Alchemist, Pl. Asia, Damani, Murs - By : Nima - September 22, 2008

It's been a few weeks since we dropped our last Weekend Audio update - appologies for that. I've been caught up but I decided it's time to catch up a little, and even though technically the weekend is over, I'm still up so here goes a little Weekend Audio catch up update.
We've got the new single from super producer Alchemist, who's getting ready to drop his new album called "Chemical Warfare" in November. As expected from ALC, he cooked up a big song for the first single and reached out to top spitters Jadakiss and Pusha T as well as Snoop Dogg to handle the hook.
The result is a banger called "Lose Your Life", check it out below:
Alchemist - Lose Your Life (ft. Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss & Pusha T)
Next up is a joint off Sandman's upcoming solo mixtape "#1 Supplya". This will be Sandman's first project since his unfortunate split from The Re-Up Gang, due to his dissatifaction with the way the Re-Up Gang album was handled. He reached out to Tekneek to provide him with a hot beat and the West Coast came full force on this one: the three Gotti brothers, Kurupt, Roscoe and Tri-Star all jump on the track, along with Dundidit. The West Coast is gonna feel this one, check out "Make It Clear" below:
Sandman - Make It Clear (ft. Kurupt, Roscoe, Tri-Star & Dundidit)
I'm positive that everybody on dubcnn is aware of Planet Asia's latest collaboration album with DJ Muggs called "Pain Language". But knowing P.A., he usually has more than one project in the works simultaneously! A project some of you might not be aware of is "Planet F.L.O.", which finds Planet Asia teaming up with his longtime friend and Frisco artist F.L.O for a whole album, in collaboration with My M.O. productions. Raw underground Hip-Hop meets the Yay! The first single, "Dem Boyz Go", check it out below:
Planet Asia & F.L.O. - Dem Boyz Go
Let's get to some heat straight out of Inglewood, CA, one third of the Dubb Union to be exact, Damani. The self-titled Dubb Union album dropped a few weeks ago through Koch Records (make sure to pick that up if you haven't yet), but Damani is also not letting down on his solo grind. A new track has been leaked out, produced by his long time friend Warren "Baby Dubb" Campbell, called "Take Somethin' Home". The track features Fatman Scoop and is definitely something to get the party going. Check out "Take Somethin' Home" below:
Damani - Take Somethin' Home (ft. Fatman Scoop)
Next up is a track off one of the most highly anticipated albums coming out of Los Angeles this year. I'm talking about Murs' major label debut on Warner Bros, "Murs For President". The buzz is building and the fans are waiting to see what the creative L.A. rhymer is going to come up with this time around. The track we have for you is called "Time Is Now" and features none other than Big Snoop Dogg, while the soulful Latoya Williams provides the hook. Production comes courtesy of Niggarachi (Snoop Dogg & Terrace Martin):
Murs - Time Is Now (ft. Snoop Dogg & Latoya Williams)
Last but not least, we have a new joint from TJ Santana from the Young Hoggs. He's currently working on his "West Coast Succs Right Now" EP dropping through RBC Records soon, off the back of his buzz single with the same name, which we premiered on dubcnn a few months ago. This track right here is on a more positive note and samples the Beverly Hills Cop theme (yes it does). To find out what TJ cooked up, check out "Beverly Hills Cop Song (Fucc'd Me A White Girl)" below:

.......................................................................................... Inglewood's Sean Deez Drops "VVS" Mixtape [Audio] - By : Nima - September 22, 2008

Sean Deez is a name that has been featured on dubcnn now and again, but never really got a proper look. The Inglewood rapper has been grinding for a long time now, putting out mixtapes and albums since 2002, including his "Ambitions" album, which was featured in The Source magazine.
He's now linked back up with San Diego's Mitchy Slick and Wrongkind Records to release his new projects. He had first met Mitchy in '97 through West Coast pioneer Sir Jinx, who Deez credits as the producer who first influenced him to rhyme.
When asked about the Wrongkind connection, Deez stated to dubcnn that "the Wrongkind movement is about powerful music from individuals with real stories behind their names, who represent hustlers that have experienced the highs of legendary street fame and ridaz that can never let go of the pain attached to the lows of death and life sentences."
His new mixtape "VVS", which is hosted by DJ JiJi Sweet, drops tomorrow. Features include Strong Arm Steady, 211 and Damani amongst others, while production was provided by Disko and Dubb Knox amongst others. Dubcnn has two preview tracks for ya'll to check out below:
Sean Deez - Hood (Prod. by Disko) Sean Deez - Bossin' Up (Prod. by Dollaboyz)

.......................................................................................... Raje' Inks Deal With Koch Records - By : Eddie Gurrola - September 21, 2008

Dubcnn regular Raje' has inked a deal! His debut album "You're Welcome" is set for release in January 2009 on A.S.A.P./Koch Records.
Born and raised in Moreno Valley, Raje' is giving his fans what they have been waiting for. Moving from the suburbs to the streets after going through problems at home at the age of 16 is where he learned how "real" the world around him was.
"See I was a dreamer, so if I was going to sell weed, I was going to sell it all! If I was getting money from my ladies, I was tryna pimp em for real! But everybody's not built for that, and I couldn't do it. I just believe that some of us are made to accomplish way more," Raje' told Dubcnn.
With over 5 record offers from labels, including So So Def and Universal, Raje' decided that independent was the only way to go with the current climate of the industry. After moving to Los Angeles to join forces with Jazzy D, Raje' found his home with Koch Records.
"You're Welcome" will have guest appearances by Glasses Malone, Chino XL, Dirty Birdy, Goldie Loc and many more. Raje' also has a mixtape coming out before the album with DJ Ill Will, Killa P, & Mixtape Assassin.
We've got the street single from "You're Welcome" available for you to hear today. Check it out.

Living Legend is a term that is often overused but in the case of San Quinn it is an accurate description of what he has meant to the game. Dubcnn's Javon Adams recently hooked up with San Quinn to talk about his entrepreneurial spirit and how he is using hip hop to benefit his community.
Quinn does more than just cut a check to show his support. He has a program that helps the youth get to college. Commendable? Yes. Don’t get it twisted though as San Quinn is still as busy as ever with the music as he is prepping for the release of the new GLP project and his own solo as well.

.......................................................................................... Dubcnn Exclusive: The Seven Interview - By : JonathanHay - September 18, 2008

They say Seven is a lucky number. However, growing up on the east side of Torrance, California, life seems to falls more under the category of inauspicious; the streets ring with an unpromising fate. But, I guess when you’ve escaped death a few times -- once after having your car shot up and catching two bullets yourself -- you can consider yourself a pretty lucky man. And to dub yourself “Seven” would seem like an appropriate thing to do.
The west coast rapper, Seven, has peeled himself away from the wreckage of ill-fated fortune and flooded the streets with a resounding buzz from his mixtapes and promo single “The End Of Summer”, featuring G-Unit’s Spider Loc and L.V. (yes, from Gangster’s Paradise).
Dubcnn catches up with Seven for this exclusive interview, in which he talks about his past, present and the future of his upcoming release, F.A.M.E (Hellafyde/Fontana/Universal Music).

Anybody who's familiar with DJ Quik should have heard the name Stan Sheppard before. The industry veteran teamed up with Tony Lane years ago to form the label Sheppard Lane, managed and worked closely with DJ Quik, Mausberg, Suga Free and the rest of the crew for about 6 years.
As many of you know, the relationship ended a few years back and it seemed as if Stan Sheppard had dissapeared for good. He has now reached out to us to talk about his newly formed label called Peaceful/Tonestruck Ent, with which he's hoping to give West Coast and Mid-West artists new opportunities.
His first project is entitled "Bangin'... Pain, Pride & Destruction" and will raise funds for the national anti-gang organization "Unity One". The compilation features all new original music from Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, Akon, Kurupt and DJ Battlecat to name a few.
Stan Sheppard is also closely involved with Battlecat's upcoming album, as well as his mixtape "Turntable Journalism", which we announced on dubcnn a few weeks back. The mixtape will feature new music from WC, Kurupt, Crooked I, Eastwood, Bad Lucc, Mykestro, Hot Box, Nile and G-Sinatra amongst others.
Be on the look out for the interview with Stan Sheppard coming to dubcnn soon where we talk about all these projects, as well as the tribute album for the Martin Luther King Foundation, which will be released through his label. Of course, we will also speak about his six years managing DJ Quik and why he disbanded the successful Sheppard Lane Records. Stay tuned!Discuss This Topic

Many people often declare that “back in the day” the old school hip-hop art form was the golden years of our powerful culture. They reminisce over the pioneers and leaders of that time. Well, breaking out of that masquerade is Lil Dap – the gifted persona of an internationally known emcee and founder of the critically acclaimed Group Home...and also part of the legendary Gang Starr family and movement.
