Mista Cane took the mixtape scene by storm by dropping 4 mixtapes with his Alliance Crew in 2003-2004. In that 2 year span the mixtapes created a strong buzz with each volume pushing a respectable 20,000 copies on average. Mista Cane, along with the Alliance, had created a solid fanbase. Since then Mista Cane has been touring with Andre Nickatina (aka Dre Dog) throughout several states including California, Washington & Arizona. From clubs to colleges getting the message out that he was here to stay. He has also contributed to 2 successful independent group efforts (2003’s Pervelous P Camp, and 2005’s High Risk High High Reward with Arsen).
Now fresh off the recent success of his solo mixtape “Contract Year” with Bronx based DJ Iroc of Amerikkkas Most Wanted Djs, Cane has dropped his debut solo album “In My Life” to the masses. The album features artists such as The Game (on 3 tracks), Mike Marshall, Cali Agents, and more. With production being handled by Davey D. Cohn, Sean T, and One Drop Scott.
The song topics are not what people are expecting coming out of the Bay Area presently. Instead of the typical high energy music, he chooses to elaborate on the hardships of being raised in poverty and how to overcome adversity with songs like “Slow Down”, “True Confessions”, and “In My Life”. He explains the difficulties faced in the music industry on “Hard Work” and on “The Nightshift” he explains why kids would turn to crime with so many other avenues in life. What is most refreshing is the ability to come off intelligent in his songs without sounding like a preacher. Add all of this with the solid production provided throughout and you have an excellent debut album. Overall this album is a breathe of fresh air in a genre that has become stale and repetitive. The album is in stores nationwide now.
