Wale Is On Dubcnn For “A Conversation About Nothing”

Not familiar with Wale? Really? It’s about time to get you up to speed then. The Washington D.C. native has seen his buzz grow exponentionally throughout the last year, leading up to him signing a deal with Mark Ronson‘s Allido Records under Interscope Records.

Co-signed by greats such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Bun B and Lil Wayne and having already toured the world on Mark Ronson’s world tour last year, it looks like success is unavoidable for Wale, who brings listeners a fresh mix of Hip-Hop and Go Go music.

Dubcnn had the chance to catch up with him for “A Conversation About Nothing”. Obviously, that’s a spin-off off Wale’s current mixtape, titled “Mixtape About Nothing“, which was inspired by the TV series Seinfeld. Those who heard the “Mixtape About Nothing” already know that the title is ironic, as Wale touches on an array of different issues and topics on the mixtape. The same can be said about this interview.

We talk about him coming up in D.C., his influences, working with his idol Black Thought of The Roots and how he ended up signing with Jimmy Iovine‘s Interscope Records. He tells us why he’s not worried about Interscope forcing him to switch up his sound, his experiences touring the world with Mark Ronson, and of course his “Mixtape About Nothing“.

We end off the interview with a few words on his upcoming solo album, which by the way is set to feature production from Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Pharrell, Just Blaze, 9th Wonder and the French electronic music duo Justice.
