Over the past 8 years that dubcnn has been up and running, I have come to realize that France, along with Japan, probably has the biggest West Coast Hip-Hop scene in the world. Not only does France have an incredible history when it comes to Hip-Hop music going back to the late 80’s, but they are also very familiar with the culture and have a (still) flourishing G-Funk scene.
You’ve heard some French G-Funk artists featured on dubcnn before, such as Driver, who’s Aelpeacha-produced track “Un Mec Cool” we dropped last year.
Now, the French and U.S. Hip-Hop scene is about to really collide, on the “Menace 2 Society” tour, which starts June 5th.
The Compton OG Daddy V, along with MC Eiht have just touched down in France and are getting ready to hit the road with their French counterparts, including J’L’Tism� of the pioneer group Tout Simplement Noir (performing at all the shows), Aelpeacha, Driver, MSJ, Papillon, DJ Ozzir, Gizo and Doggmaster. Originally, Long Beach’s own Bad Azz was supposed to join the tour but was not able to make it.
Dubcnn has the official “Menace II Society” song for the tour available for you to check out, featuring J’L’Tism�, Daddy V and Espe. I know the old school West Coast heads gonna feel this one, vocoder included:
