0

As we are sure many of you already know Rap pioneer and legend Heavy D sadly passed away this week on November 8th. His unexpected death at the age of 44 has been well documented across news outlets and online with tributes pouring in for the Jamaican-born American actor, rapper, record producer, singer and former leader of Heavy D & the Boyz.

His as yet unexplained death occurred within hours of being taken to hospital with breathing problems and only hours after he wrote to his followers on Twitter, “BE INSPIRED!”

This was also only days since he’d made his first live performance in 15 years when he joined La Toya Jackson at the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales, UK and delivered a medley of hits at the Bet Hip-Hop awards. Just this week, he spoke to DJ Tim Westwood on BBC Radio 1Xtra, saying he prepared for the Bet show by practicing eight hours a day for six weeks.

The entire team at Dubcnn would like to take this moment to pass on our condolences to Heavy D’s family and friends and RIP to one of Hip-Hop’s most suave rhymers. We also want to urge you all to take a look back at 15 defining hits from his career including “The Overweight Lover’s in the House” and the iconic “Jam” verse with Michael Jackson.
