Crip Jesus is bringing together the worlds of West Coast gangsta rap and Wu-Tang-inspired lyricism with the release of “Blu Tang Forever,” the first official album under his belt.
Drawing inspiration from legendary spoken-word collective Blu Tang Forever, specifically founding member Amde Hamilton, “Blu Tang Forever” offers a gritty reflection on life in Los Angeles through the lens of history, spirituality and street philosophy. Backed by a haunting, sinister instrumental, the record establishes the dark, cinematic atmosphere that runs throughout the project.
The album has already begun generating buzz within underground Hip Hop circles. Rap Seminar praised the release, calling it, “One of the most recent offerings from the extended Killah Priest family, this is an album you don’t want to skip.”
Much of Blu Tang Forever is produced by DeKay Slaps, whose credits include collaborations with Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Rugged Monk and West Coast Killa Beez group Black Knights. Additional production comes from The Beat Kollectorz, known for crafting records alongside Black Knights, Ras Kass and Wu-Syndicate.
Lyrically, Crip Jesus leans heavily into the sword-sharpening style made famous by the Wu-Tang Clan while never abandoning his West Coast roots. Throughout the album, he and his collaborators trade intricate bars packed with coded Crip terminology that echoes the layered Five Percent Nation references found on classic Wu-Tang releases. The result is a project that feels both familiar and entirely its own.
