Good fucking god these guys have forgotten how to do anything original that Nintendo didn't do first.  Nintendo actually had a campaign in late 2003 called "Who Are You?" where they showed commercials and shit and had signs in the stores, suggesting that some players are more "mario" players, some are more "pokemon" players, etc. and that was the campaign.  It actually says "Who Are you?" about 10 seconds into the Sony ad.  Of course the entire thing is a blatant rip off of Nintendo's 'wii' channel, but I can't really blame them.  Nintendo's sold 5 million Wii's, Sony's sold 1.5 million ps3's and the ps3 was released 2 days earlier than the Wii.  This will continue to be the situation until Sony hires somebody with some creativity.

as much as i agree with you... this is a good idea... they are honestly expanding on the whole mii concept... because nintendo has it... but they honestly lack in the online department which im hoping they improve on... but to me it seems like they are expanding on the mii and xbox live concept... i wish them luck because it looks promising... but we will see how it all plays out... its the first thing that is interesting to come out of sony in a while so lets see what it can do... even tho i know nintendo could do it better with the mii characters but there is no way to interact at this point in time

To be fair to Sony they have had this in the works for a few years now, one of their execs even wanted to do it for PS2. This expands on the Mii idea and puts it into a 'realistic' environment which to me actually looks pretty good. Plus, until Live it'll be free because of the advertising space they can sell within the areas. If we are saying they've copied Mii's then surely Nintendo copied the tons of PC applications which did similar things to Miis many years ago.

Saw this a couple days ago. It looks really dope. Though I'd rather they spend more time on developing games then this.

I'm glad you point that out.  See, 1 way to have a successful launch and, oh, turn a profit in a company is to make the system available to more than 5 countries.  Also, if you'll compare the numbers in good ol' America, or in that matter any country where both systems have been released, you'll see that Nintendo is handing sony their ass week after week... kinda like they did 2 years ago when the psp and ds launched.
