depends on the game you play, i was playing splinter cell double agent the other day and i was noticing a lot of fall in the frame rates

Its really disappointing to see how much emphasis people put on graphics and the way a game looks these days. If the gameplay is great, i dont give a fuck if the game looks like a n64 game, i'll still play it.

The 360 is capable of 1080p, but only one game has actually been that natively with no problems, which was Virtua Tennis 3. The latest NBA Street can be 1080p, but the framerate drops to 30fps instead of 60fps if you move it up from 720p.

The Playstation 3 has a lot more games that are 1080p natively, but even still, most of the first and second generation games are only likely to be 720p, as developers do not yet have enough knowledge of the system to get their games running acceptably at 1080p. If Gran Turismo 5: Prologue does turn out to be 1080p at 60fps, looking spectacular, then that will obviously set the benchmark for future titles.

If all you want to play is sterile western developed games and worry about having to update your setup every six months to play the latest games. I much prefer the variety of games and the standardised experience that console gaming affords.

I agree with dopewhiterapper because thatīs how I did it for the last ~10 years: Mostly playing on PC and for the rest I got myself a Nintendo console. Seriously, every PC shooter (for example) shits on a console shooter. Mouse + Keyboard is so much better than ANY console controls.

Besides that, I can see your point in the cost of a "state of the art" pc but honestly, you are obviously using a pc to visit this site. Why not invest a little more and make your pc a gaming machine? You can still use your pc for all your daily needs. Word, INet etc...

I know the benefits of a console. To me a console is about playing with your friends and for that purpose itīs the best thing you can get. You can take your console to a friendīs place and hook it up there and be ready to play in a minute. To me, though, there are only so much games that are worth to get on a console cause the rest I play on pc. In much better resolution, with much better controls and more options to customize stuff. I mean, online gaming only became popular on consoles like a few years ago. Iīve been playing online on pc since 2000? And thatīs only because I got internet that "late."

I donīt mean to badmouth consoles, cause they are great, but to me a pc wins everyday. I only get the Nintendo consoles because of the Nintendo exclusives. Mario, Zelda, Metroid and so on.

But the new generation of consoles got very good graphics, power, etc compared to a PC, they are very close to a good PC.


Also its a different thing to play your console, I go mine hooked up to the surround sound in the living room wit my muthafucking lazy boy sofas, wit the wireless controller I dont even have to get up to turn it on or nothing! its on some different shit to sitting at a desk with a PC.

I know that the new generation of consoles (PS3 and XBox360) have kickass graphics on a HD screen but me, for example, I donīt have a HD screen (and Iīm not planning to buy one in the next time.) To me itīs just strange to spend 700(?) dollars on a PS3 when you can upgrade your pc to a monster gaming machine with that money. I am "constantly" upgrading my system step by step (ok, it has been ~ 2 years since I upgraded a SINGLE part in my system - cause I lack the money- but I did in the past) so of course you are spending more money with having a pc but at the same time you got yourself the real deal.

I understand the comfort factor of sitting on your couch and playing but donīt get it wrong. Not everyone has their pc sitting on a desk with just a stereo system. I for myself just use shitty stereo speakers but my best friend got his pc hooked up to a 5.1 system and is playing on a beamer. THAT is pimp (but I have to agree, it costs a shitload.)
