For The Love Of Money (Original Version) Question ???
« on: February 20, 2011, 03:43:53 AM »

2 Songs, Same Title, Same Beat, Same Record Label.
Yomo & Maulkie's version released in '91.
Bone Thugs version released 3 years later in '94.
Both produced by Yella.
Anyone know the story of why Ruthless/Eazy/Yella would re-use the beat if they had already used it on a previous album ?
Seems a little odd  ???

i dont know maybe cuz beat was so good. i think Yella was the best producer on Ruthless, better than Dr.Dre, just compare Eazys SOTSOMC & One Mo Nigga Ta Go to Dres production from that time, in my eyes Yella wins 8)

Yeah I think Yella was def. more creative and musical at the time, but was on another level sonically. For The Love of $ is one of my all time favorites, the instrumental is just too beautiful. I don't know the story behind this beat being re-used but I've always thought it was kinda like 2pac re-using Johnny J's Better Off for Picture Me Rollin: Bone must have loved the beat so much that they wanted to spit on it.

I don't think Dre even put anything out in 95. Most of Yella's work was during that time period. How are you going to base who the better producer on a period of time when Dre didn't do shit? Dre's work at Ruthless shits on Yella's work at Ruthless, hence Dre is the better producer.

Dre released compilation on Aftermath in 96 and in 95 contributed on Dogg Food. Dogg Pound  album was good but SOTSOMC (which was mostly recorded in 95) beat wise shits on it.

``cant c me`` and ``california love`` were made in 93 and in 95/maybe 94 (``the root of evil`` was pretty much Cali Love but a little different).  Plus ``cant c me`` was originally 4 the ``helter skelter`` album in 94.

95 contributed on Dogg Food.

No he didn't

Dogg Pound  album was good but SOTSOMC (which was mostly recorded in 95) beat wise shits on it.

No it doesn't. Daz in 95 >> Yella. Str8 Off the Streetz is all over the place beat-wise. Not to mention that Yella only produced half of it.

Dre released compilation on Aftermath in 96

Aftermath album >>> One Mo Nigga ta Go. So what does this say? Even Dre's worst work >>> Yella's best. Cmon man....Yella showed he had talent after Dre left but saying he's better than Dre is ludicrous.

But even you don't really believe it. I mean you're comparing Yella's best work to the period when Dre was producing the least. If you truly believed he was better you would be comparing their best production. I didn't see you comparing Yella's work to Efil4zaggin, Doggystyle or The Chronic.
