Yomo & Maulkie's version released in '91.
Bone Thugs version released 3 years later in '94.
Both produced by Yella.
Anyone know the story of why Ruthless/Eazy/Yella would re-use the beat if they had already used it on a previous album ?

i dont know maybe cuz beat was so good. i think Yella was the best producer on Ruthless, better than Dr.Dre, just compare Eazys SOTSOMC & One Mo Nigga Ta Go to Dres production from that time, in my eyes Yella wins

Yeah I think Yella was def. more creative and musical at the time, but was on another level sonically. For The Love of $ is one of my all time favorites, the instrumental is just too beautiful. I don't know the story behind this beat being re-used but I've always thought it was kinda like 2pac re-using Johnny J's Better Off for Picture Me Rollin: Bone must have loved the beat so much that they wanted to spit on it.

Dre released compilation on Aftermath in 96 and in 95 contributed on Dogg Food. Dogg Pound  album was good but SOTSOMC (which was mostly recorded in 95) beat wise shits on it.
