I just peeped hiphopdx http://cdn.hiphopdx.com/images/infographic.jpg and "I Need A Doctor" went Double Platinum last year, it was the 4th biggest hip hop single released. In the words of Jay Z "Men lie, women lie, numbers don't" 8)

as long as dre keeps releasing shit, he will be a factor......greatest producer of all time, what do u expect? he can record himself eating a bucket of fried chicken and peeps would still check it. if he released "detox" right now, it would go diamond based on hype alone.

Exactly. "I Need A Doctor" sounds like a straight Eminem track featuring Dre.

and then again..that song wasnt catered to the hip hop audience but the radio pop one...so imo despite the numbers, it did nothing for hip hop..

nah Detox's momentum has faded. if it dropped right now it would do good but not that good, he would need a strong solo single to introduce him to the new generation. cause at the end of the day who buys music ? teenagers mostly and the fact is that most of the teenagers don't even know who Dre is... when you ask the yougins about Dre a lot don't even know who he is and just answer automatically "you mean the headphones". so Detox wouldn't go diamond, definitely not in today's configuration, but it has the potential to do so.

Kush was Dre's comeback single and it failed to go platinum, I think if Dre released Detox right now it would do similar numbers

the digital numbers are high indeed, but he just hopped on eminem's bandwagon. still, no detox.

yeah, when it first leaked, we all thought it was for a deluxe edition of recovery

teenagers download music more than anyone else.

from a commercial point of view i think it's stupid that dre didnt release detox after the single with eminem.

but when i look at the music, it seemed that detox was going to be dr.dre presents detox, so i guess it's good that such a project didn't get released.

u cant tell me shit, if dre released detox today, without a single, most west coast heads would be in line waitin 2 buyin that shit. it's the most hyped album in hip-hop history.......diamond was an exaggeration, but it will still get big figures, no matter whats on it.

Are all those stats for digital sales only?  I know the singles are but what about the others?
