Just because a rapper from the west coast is dropping an album doesn't mean he needs to have any smash hit records or west coast bangers on it.
By the time rappers release their debut album they've already established their own style and have their own following. K Dot's no different. And his style isn't rapping lyrics over G-Funk beats from the 90's or sonic boom beats from the 00's and his following isn't expecting to do it either.
In fact none of the new rappers sound like that so it's impossible to be able compare an album that just dropped like a month ago to one that dropped over a decade ago.

Anyway you don't need to make crossover music to thrive in the music business. You just have to sell your soul to the illuminati, just as Jay-Z.

I give kendricks album a 7 out of 10 not a classic. You wont catch me bumpin in my ride though.Too many kids bumping this shit.Cant be a follower.
You're a complete fucking retard for this post. Anything you say or do afterwords isn't just suspect it's a Class A Felony. You're seriously gonna tell me you wouldn't bump a record because other people are? Just kill yourself dog.
Last week they were bumping lil wayne. This week theyre bumping kendrick. I for one cant be affiliated in any shape form or fashion.

Thread starter is probably Shyne in disguise.  I haven't paid attention that much to music in months.  Never heard of Kendrick Lamar or knew what he looked like but I heard his album & it was very good.  No song on there worth deleting at all.  Never said that about an album since faith evans keep the faith album.  All good songs on there.  I liked that the stuff that's considered interlude parts are just at the end of the song instead of being unnecessary filler interlude tracks.  I had 2 hear it when shyne dissed the album.  Maybe he was high when he listened to the album.  If I could afford to, i'd buy the album.  Worth getting!
I agree with this thread to an extent. Its a great album that iam enjoying but no way dose or will it have the same impact as Doggystyle, chronic, illmatic, six feet deep, 36 chambers, etc, etc, etc ,etc, etc, etc.
But it is a different era and iam at a very different age so...
Different era & time & age, exactly.

The Chronic was probably the first "hardcore" rap album to crossover into the mainstream with hit singles, after that rappers tried to follow that same forumula...I don't know if Kendrick's album has any tracks that are capable of doing that but time will tell

That's not really saying much though because most albums are weak compared to Doggystyle and the Chronic...

I listen to what ever the fuck I want fuck what the other man is listening too, if I'm listening to Kendrick  and them fags as u describe are only listening to him because he's this weeks flavor, I'm still gonna listen to him and I'm gonna listen 2 him even after they move on. Cause at the end of the day I listen 2 music for my own enjoyment.

That's Because The Chronic pushed rap into the Mainstream, as much as N.W.A and earlier Ice Cube albums were critically acclaimed and high selling, they didn't get no real love from the Radio (Despite rerecording radio versions, which IMO Suck ass seriously look up DOPEMAN Radio Edit wtf). The Chronic was only given Radio play because the sound was really mainstream (being a Funk Derived)

also "Express Yourself" got some video play on MTV rap shows but I don't specifically remember any radio play

it's not really an album with many commercial tracks so its a little different in that aspect...also I remember when Doggystyle came out there was a mixed reaction on it being classic
yeah when doggystyle came out, lot of people considered it  too commercial ..

yeah, this album was similar to "The Chronic", over this "Dre" productions. Dogg Food was way better, more creative. Hopefully, The Lady Of Rage didn't come out.
About your Kendick Liar album, it's a piece of ishh.

Chronic is better (just) than Doggystyle and Dogg Food, which I'd rate as equally good

It is a stone cold classic. SMH @ anyone rating this below 8/10. Best hip-hop album in six years.

And for ONCE, the "hit single" on the album ("Swimming Pools") is NOT a mindless club banger, it is NOT a cheesy radio cut, it is NOT a lame "song for the ladies". It is a lyrical, deep, classic hip-hop single. Can't we all atleast appreciate that.
