The best way to describe Snoop would be, Ghetto Fabulous. He could have been way bigger than Jay-Z but he lost his credibility in 1996 when he dropped his sophomore album. Outside of the fanbase and the west coast territory, Snoop Dogg only has one album with no skips and that's Doggystyle, they others are solid efforts and regional classics. Jay Z on the other hand, has multiple classic albums. And Snoop Dogg socks at picking the right single to push his albums.
Jay-Z doesn't even have a classic song. It's a phenomenon called Group-Think. People just like him because of the Emperor Has No Clothes Phenomenon—where idiots with no taste in music, who wanna be down with hip-hop ask, "oh hey who are the best rappers" and they hear the name Jay-Z and so they just follow along and parrot the name like sheep

the reason snoop doesn’t sell much all goes back to what dre said…snoop simply does way too much … he releases shit regularly and puts out unconcentrated efforts year round … he oversaturates his image with watered down output .. unlike jay, who will put out 1 concentrated effort and then fall out of the public eye until he resurfaces… so it makes every appearance an event that becomes highly anticipated… where as snoop is constantly in the public eye putting out anything and everything .. so when he releases an album it’s uneventful ……..then to make matters worse, snoop doesn’t have the marketing etiquette and promotional machine behind him … so jay-z has def jam to really push his albums properly, with concentrated singles, commercials, radio play, etc….while snoop has been releasing his albums independently and through small labels like empire etc…. which doesn’t have the same resources to give an album that def jam notoriety in terms of marketing eminem is cut from the jay-z cloth, which is why his releases are events and that’s why having this released on Interscope with Dre and Iovine in control creatively makes this potentially snoops biggest album in over 20 years should be interesting to see how this unfolds

Convenient left out a lot of Snoop bangers:Gin & Juice Hennessy & BuddaJust Dippin’Ups & DownsWho am I Ain’t no fun Down 4 my NoJust to name a few! I didn’t want to get involved in this debate because at the end of the day, we like what we like.I listen to Jay a lot and I can’t remember half of the track listed and I am (International).Music is about what appeal to you and what you enjoy, to say Snoop to have bangers is just wrong.
fucc outta here... What track does Jay-Z have the level of "Gin and Juice"?...Hell, just compare Jay-Z first single with Snoop's first single. Jay bit Dru Down and had to rely on Foxy Brown to turn out "Ain't No Nicca". Snoop came out with "Who Am I" ("What's My Name") he carried that whole mutherfuckin trackWhen Jay-Z does a joint like "Murder Was The Case" then we will talk until then shut the fucc up this the dubC forum HOMIE!!!!!!!
Remove Doggystyle out of the equation, what does he have to compete with Jay Z? Let's be real.
Drop It Like It's Hot and Beautiful get love here on the eastcoast, but not much else from Snoop's independent albums.
