Dr. Dre is a bad boy too.

He's not in "Bad Boys 2" (rather, he has a cameo in the competing "Hollywood Homicide"), and he doesn't have a song on Bad Boy Records soundtrack, but he's involved in the film and its music. For the first time in his distinguished career, Dre is scoring a movie.

The producer behind some of Eminem and 50 Cent's biggest hits is in his studio now, working on music for the Will Smith/ Martin Lawrence action comedy, according to his spokesperson. Neither Dre's rep nor spokespeople for the film had any more information, including whether or not the score would be released as an album.

Featuring Nelly, Lenny Kravitz, Beyoncé Knowles and others, the soundtrack is due July 15, three days before the movie hits theaters (see "50 Cent, Biggie, Justin Timberlake On 'Bad Boys 2' Soundtrack").

Dre took a break from producing Ice Cube and Eve to score the movie (see "Eve Says Dr. Dre Will Be 'All Over' Her Next Album"). He's also working on his third album, which he claims will be his last (see "Ice Cube Puts Chill On Dr. Dre's Supposed Final Album").

"Bad Boys 2" is said to be action-packed, but it also finds Smith smitten with his partner's sister, played by Gabrielle Union (see " 'Bad Boys 2' Co-Star Gabrielle Union Says Flick Will Be 'Crazy Action' ").

I'd love to hear Dre actually orchestrate something. Makes sense too, with mellowman's claim that Dre's musicianship will reach new levels on Detox. For all his beats' simplicity, maybe Dre is about to shock the world?...

like the music thats gon be in the background of the film in certain parts, dre gone do that music or sum shit?

Yeah, that's it. The score is what you'd call 'background' music. It's orchestrated stuff, not like the pop tunes that would get played over the end credits often.

This is damm good news, gives me another reason 2 see the movie. I always wondered y Dre didn't do movie scores...does anybody remember the beat that sounded like The Watcher in the Charlie's Angels movie? When I heard that, i was like damn y doesn't Dre do movies?

If true, and I don't see why it couldn't be, results should be interesting. It would make the movie appeal to me more, but I would've seen the flick any-fuckin'-way.

Timbaland, Rockwilder, and a lot of other hiphop-producers have scored music for movies.

And I dont really like the idea.. it only means a few snippets of Dre-beats going to waste as background moodsetting music.. instead of using them on rappers instead.

Hmm, Timbaland did "Nutty Professor: Part II" and "Romeo must die".. maybe more but that's the ones I remember.
