Is Daz really a super producer? *discuss*
« on: July 21, 2005, 11:27:01 AM »
I was thinking about how Daz is often being creditet for being a super producer and everything, but when you think about it he might not be quite the super producer you probally thought (I know I did for many years). OK:

Dogg Food: great production, no doubt about it. But did you notice how it was entirely mixed by Dr. Dre?

Nate Dogg: One More Day (my favourtie Nate track outside his albums) produced by Daz, *mixed by Dr. Dre*

Snoop Dogg: Tha Doggfather, coo beat *mixed by DJ Pooh*

Kurupt & Daz - On the Grind, co-produced by E3

Ok this is not taking anything away from Daz, Retaliation Revenge & Get Back plus Raw had some nice production on it, but you still have to admit its not quite on the level the abovementioned. This Is The Life I Lead had the coolest Daz track on it I heard on awhile, Keep It Gangsta, which was co-produced by Mike Dean...

So what im saying is maybe Daz should stop babling about how Dre "stole" his beats, when he really made them tight as fuck! The beats Daz did on The Chronic was probally just skeletons, and Dre put the meat on em so to speak....

so what do you think.....

Daz is a good producer, but super producer is pushing it. His best beats were always mixed by the real super producers.

I think back when he did the beats on Above The Rim and Murder Was The Case, he was headed in that direction.  Dogg Food was a step down from that imo.

He just keeps getting progressively worse.

Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back was the last time i actually can say i was checking for a Daz beat.  He's fallen off considerably, though i think he has a nice chemistry with Mike Dean who i've always felt was underrated.

Daz has been called a Super Producer?
That's what I'm saying. Daz is the exact opposite of Dr. Dre. Dre takes his time making beats. Daz pumps out wack shit like there's no tomorrow. But having said that Dr. Dre is still overrated as hell.

To call Daz a 'super producer' is ludicrous.

To give him his credit he's made some tight tracks. The issue is that I don't believe he is 100% responsible for any of them.

In the Death Row days he was supported by Dre first, then Soopafly and allegedly Quik on AEOM. Then Mike Dean helped him right across Dillinger & Young Gotti...

Until I see video footage of Daz creating a Dogg Food-quality beat from scratch, on his own, I laugh in the face of anyone who calls the guy a 'super producer'.

super producer is a gay word to use, you guys are losers

and what proof do you have that says he got help from Quik?
you losers are so quick to throw some bullshit out there

and isn't it funny that Daz was one of 2Pac's favorite producers to work with
most people on this forum are so stupid
this fool has never sold out, never had publicity, was taught by Dr. Dre himself to produce
has limited promotion, one the most selling independent artists, has helped Kurupt shine on so many tracks
maybe he hasn't made top-notch shit lately, but his track-record speaks for itself
so many producers have help on tracks, you wouldn't want Dr. Dre to mix your track and make it better?
gee, I wonder if he's the first to have help on a track
nobody but some fuckin lames called him a "Super Producer"
pretty much, he's a West Coast legendary producer who made beats for icons like Snoop Dogg and 2Pac
let's stop hating and agree he's a talented producer

Daz is one of the most over rated producers in rap history! I saw on MTV/BET or read an interview where he said that he really produced all of Chronic and Doggystyle. What a freakin joke. Dre has continued to put out hits where ever he goes and Daz only produced that mediocre hit for Cameron, Baby, or whatever the name of that song was. Dre did mix the Doggfood Cd. Look how all songs that mixed by Dre sound - look at the mixing for other artists he did on 50 cent and games albums. They all have that Dre touch added in. Kanye West said in that Billboard articled that he wanted Dre to mix his entire next album! Anyone who says Dre is over rated is smoking that rock! Dre has made classic hits at Ruthless, Death Row and Aftermath. Many call hip raps greatest producer and he is! U betta recognize!

His work from '94-'96 was worthy of super-producer status. I don't know how much Dre, Soopafly, etc. helped him cause I wasn't there but those beats are timeless and in the credits it says produced by Dat Nigga Daz.
