Snoop posted behind the scenes of a Kurupt's music video on his Snapchat this morning.
Looks like the song features Snoop too.
After the release of Jane Handcock's album (very good album), I hope Kurupt's album is next and a good one too.

Yeah, that would be great.
July might be too early now, without any song released yet

it's not dropping this month .. but it should be coming this year

because the previews of Kurupt in the death row studios, there were excellent instrumentals of Battlecat! for me his last real album was Streetlight, so it's been a long time. I have hope in Kurupt. If we have an album of the same level as W.A.W.G. solo Kurupt I sign for it.

Kurupt's my favorite artist so I really hope he delivers a few bangers at least

It's always a good sign to see Kurupt and Cat together...from "Under Pressure" to "We Can Freak It" to the underrated "Mystic River" they always come up with something dope

I’m digging this song. Special. Produced by Battlecat. Very nice. Getting hyped for this album.

The roll out begins.
I don't know why I'm excited for this but might be because they take their time with Kurupt and just happy to see him getting better physically and more focused.

Kurupt sounds better than he has in the last 15 years on "Special"
I actually liked the Streetlights album but this has a good chance to be a much better project with Battlecat on board
-
Battlecat put work in for that beat, sound so clean and organic Battlecat
-
Beat is crazy! Album is gonna be good cuz Death Row / Battlecat took their time!
-
Special is so dope 8)
Kurupt sounds so good. Battlecat did an amazing job on the beat. And with Blaqtoven on the hook you can’t miss.
Dope track.

I won't say this but Blaqtoven is a damn good chorus singer.

Hahahaha... sccit is that you?
I mean if i could make the best 50 battlecat productions list, this one cant take place there. Nothing catchy and memorable at all.

Kurupt is horrible nowadays, time to hang up the 🎤

Yes, maybe it's not in his top 50, the same goes for Kurupt's performance. But in 2025. But we're talking about guys who are more or less 50 years old. Kurupt has been on a pretty good run since W.A.W.G. Compared to what he did before, I'm looking forward to this track. When I remember what he was doing with Zodiak... I'm happy to see him with Snoop, Battlecat! It's like Snoop, Is It a Crime isn't in my top 10 Snoop albums, but in 2025, I'll happily take this album! Same with Daz RR&GB 2! And I'm waiting for the 3rd!

that's a good way to look at it...it makes sense that these dudes in their 50's are not going to be as good as they were in their 20's
I actually think Kurupt sounded pretty decent on this better than he has in a while
as for Snoop I haven't heard "Is It A Crime" as of yet... still trying to get over that horrible "Missionary" album :-[

cool song, I like the beat. I wouldn't say kurupt comes off anything special, but definitely not wack.
Surprised Daz didn't have a cameo in the video.

Daz is not always around the camp often nowadays, with his construction business he is always out of town and pull up when needed (I think).

Exactly!! Blaqtoven is actually the one singing on ''Got Beef'' by Tha Eastsidaz, very Charlie Wilson-esque

I'm looking forward to this Kurupt album coming out.
With Battlecat at the helm handling all of the production it has the potential to be very good, at the very least cohesive with just the one producer involved.
That will probably work best for Kurupt at this point.

I think the 1st song I heard him produce for Kurupt was "Under Pressure" from The Players Club soundtrack
they always had good chemistry

You’ve provided insider info before on albums and stuff like one of Kendrick’s albums which was genuine. I recognize your username from that so that’s cool to know that this new Kurupt album is gonna be hard.

I hope its as good as space boogie.

I've always got my own judgment, but nevertheless, exciting to hear!
-
For sure ! I was told it is actually better than Streetz btw , and I get having ur own shit indeed, for example: in my opinion I liked the j wells project almost as much as space boogie or if not more.
Also the album title is dope as fuck for new Kurupt album... if I told it I would have to kill ya tho :D

I never doubt Battlecat so I know the production will be top notch
but if Kurupt is spitting near “Streetz” level which itself was nowhere near “Dogg Food” level I’ ll be happy

Can't begin to imagine this being Streetz Iz a Mutha level. No chance, but I'm looking forward nonetheless!

I doubt battlecat unfortunately. Last productions of him is more rnb flavored and not catchy at all. Snoop also wants to promote his death row rnb singers like jane and october. I hope he comes up with funky beats he used to do back in the day.

Any info on the release?
Kurupt supposed to drop Equonix, then Scuba Dust, then Transition. So many albums without releasing. I hope this time we will get a new album of Kurupt. Warren G listened to it, Snoop told about it. Tales from the hood is the title.
Why all this waiting. Just the single "special" weeks ago and no further info?
Snoop releases 2 albums within half a year, Daz 3 albums half a year and Kurupt needs 15 years to release an official solo album?

There's artwork with that title shown in the "Special" music video. That's probably where people are getting it from.

Somewhere in this interview Kurupt himself tells the title:

Yeah, definitely a reference to the film from 1995. But the artwork shown in the music video is clearly not the film's poster, lol (even though it's using the same font as the film's poster).
Kurupt actually has a song on the film's soundtrack. Great movie for those that have never seen it btw.

i don't think the title is tales from the hood but i can be wrong
we haven't gotten a working title yet as far as i've been told

Daz recently said again the album is coming. Its the short interview, where he said there aint no beef about Snoop and the new Death Row.
31. October the DPG album is coming. But what about Kurupts album?
-
I want to be excited for a new Kurupt solo, but he has been so inconsistent for so long that I'm going to just sit and wait for some leaks.
-
Inconsistent is an understatement. I can't remember the last time a verse of his actually made any sense.

He gets a pass from me, I love it when he rhymes a bunch of dinosaur names and says 'bitch' 30 times in a verse. Even if it doesn't make any sense, it sounds cool and brings back great memories.

still I have all his CDs and will cop this one too though

Hope we get an update soon

What are your favorite Kurupt verse or lines that makes you think he is a dope mc?
His verses on Smooth, Doggy Dogg World, Puffin on Blunts, and Started are top notch for me.
My favorite verse where he says 'bitch' 100 times is the last verse from the song "Your Gyrlfriend" off Streetz Is A Mutha

What is Snoop waiting for? Iz it a crime was released within days, why waiting months or years to release Kurupts album?
to be fair, snoop is a household name and kurupt isn't. Snoop can drop an album with no promotion like Iz it a crime and it will get far more attention than a kurupt album will with promotion.
-
You're right, Snoop can get attention easily. But Kurupt isn't somebody unknown and with Battlecat production on the entire album, a lot of fans would look at it.
-
Waiting on them to release that song from the snippet on Battlecat's from several months ago
-
Can you give a link to the snippet?
-
They went quiet on this since Special.
I'm hoping they are working on more songs or something.
There would be a reason behind it.
Jane Handcock's album was delayed because they decided to work on 2 or more songs before releasing it and got the song with .Paak for the album. They delivered a very good album eventually.
I'm fine to be patient as long as the album is decent because it feels like the last hope of getting something decent from Kurupt, maybe to wake Kurupt up again.
-

Regarding all the bitch shit -
Would you say the time that you spent in the studios with Dr. Dre and all them – did they show you how to be in a freestyle battle? As the MC that he was, did they help you in the ways of structure?
Kurupt - Hit the nail right on the head. Before Dr. Dre and all of them all I did was straight destroy MCs. Behead them one by one by one. Snoop and Dr. Dre taught me how to make songs, they taught me how to make records. Before them, I just wanted body counts. More mics for my mantle.
And you collected a lot of them.
Kurupt - You motherfucking skippy. Snoop and Dre are the ones that taught me that it’s cool to be fly. [Laughs] “It’s all right, Kurupt, to have fun.” “What do you mean have fun? I just want to kill people.” “You can’t kill everybody, Kurupt, Jesus Christ. We talk about bitches and you talk about cutting people from the gut to the top of the head. What the fuck? You can’t do that Kurupt. You gotta have fun, rap about things people can relate to. Everybody can’t relate to walking on moons and Mars and Jupiter and flying in space without a space shuttle. Come on Kurupt, knock that shit off. We talking about bitches!”
I didn’t know how to talk about them bitches man, I was like, “Okay, well I met this bitch, I grabbed a nigguh and broke him into bits and pieces, threw up, ability, agility, and rhymes!” “Ahh no! You ain’t making this record Kurupt.” “Huh? Wait, wait, wait. Give me fifteen more minutes.” I know what they want me to rap like.
“If Kurupt ever gave a fuck about a bitch, I’d always be broke.” “Oh, that’s it Kurupt!” First one was “Bitches Ain’t Shit,” that was my first fun record ever. For “Bitches Ain’t Shit” I was either in love with somebody or killing somebody.
“Bitch-ass nigga so – when you see the D-O double G sneak creep. I see through you bitch, you can’t see me. I see through you oh so clearly.”
;D

Did he say anything about the album?
Not really, It's more about the process and single released.
He mentioned there is a new single due out soon but apart from that he didn't go into details about the album, which is disappointing.
Another interesting thing he mentioned is about his kids and how they don't care about his music or celeb status and they care more about his health, always warning him about his drinking.
The fact that he knows about his drinking problem is good.

I saw him perform w/ Daz this past weekend (along with a lot of other rappers). Kurupt seemed like the only one who wasn't doing things to try to get the crowd involved like yelling things to the crowd. Daz had so much more energy than Kurupt, and was basically leading the entire thing. So this certainly seems like Kurupt may have been sober and isn't used to performing sober. This is just my speculation.

This might be the case, if he is trying to actually stay sober.
It will take time for his system to readjust and he can have his natural energy back without the aid of substance.
The damage is obvious with his body language during the interview.

Daz was hyped and had the energy. Kurupt didn't have the energy. I'm saying it seemed like Kurupt was probably sober.

Actually Kurupt touched on something, that might be the show you're talking about.
He said, he just flew in to do the show with Daz after doing one with Snoop in another state and wasn't feeling too well but he got over it when he was performing Ain't No Fun

the West Coast Disc of Kuruption! was even better than Space Boogie imo
Fred Wreck did a good job of biting Dre’s 2001 sound on it however
