news Bigg Steele Is Going To "War" With Glasses Malone - By : LilJay - November 29, 2007

Bigg Steele is gearing up to release his next street album in January called "Welcome to Baghdad", followed by the major release "Cereal & Water" in spring. The latter one has been talked about here on Dubcnn since last year, you can check out the interview we did with him a couple of months ago to get a clear vision of what "Cereal & Water" is gonna be about.

Back to "Welcome to Baghdad": To let our visitors get a taste of the street album, Steele sent us an exclusive track from the project. The Long Beach rapper teamed up with Watts' own Beach Cruiser Glasses Malone for this one and they've appropriately named it "War With No Mercy", as they're showing their grimey side over this Bigg Steele production. That's right, Steele is on the production tip too!

Download the track by hitting the link below. For more info on Bigg Steele visit his MySpace page.

news Young De's Street Album W/ B-Real & Damizza - By : Eddie Gurrola - November 28, 2007

Many of our readers should be familiar with the Tangled Thoughts. They dropped one of the best indie albums of the year with their mentor Kurupt, "Philly 2 Cali," and since then the trio have ventured off into solo projects. After displaying his unquestionable skills on "Philly 2 Cali," group member Young De caught the attention of many heavy hitters on the West Coast. Two of the veterans that were feeling him, B-Real of Cypress Hill and Damizza, have teamed up with De to put together a guaranteed-classic street album.

"Audio Hustlaz Volume 1" is the name of the project, and it will feature all original production from B-Real and Damizza. After hearing a few tracks being recorded in the studio, DJ Skee was immediately hooked, and he's now on board to present the album. De's longtime mentor Kurupt wanted to get involved again too, so he is going to host it! The endorsement of all these big names is a huge a testament to De's talent as an artist, so we're definitely looking forward to hearing what they've cooked up for us.

You can expect the album to drop in mid-January. As always, you'll be able to get a free copy exclusively on Dubcnn when the project drops, and in the meantime we'll keep you updated with a bunch of crazy surprises!

If you have yet to hear some of De's music, we've got two tracks for you to check out today. The first is a collaboration betwen him and B-Real called "Audio Hustler."

Young De - Audio Hustler [featuring and produced by B-Real]

The second track is De's single from the street album, and it's called "Patron." The track, produced by Damizza and "Jedi" Jared Moore, has an acquired taste to it, much like the tequila that it's named after! De said that he put the record out because he wanted to differentiate himself from the many other talented rappers around right now. The relaxed, mellow vibe of the song is truly something unique, so be sure to check it out and tell your friends about it.

Young De - Patron [Produced by Damizza and Jedi Jared Moore]

De filmed a music video for "Patron" two weeks ago in Santa Barbara, and we have exclusive behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot that we will be dropping soon. Until then, we've got some other video clips for you to check out. The first clip is an interview with DJ Skee on Skee.TV where De tells us a little bit about the project. Check it out below.

Young De on Skee TV [Youtube]

As a celebration after "Patron" was played on the radio, De drank an entire bottle of the expensive hard liquor in one sitting, and the event was captured on film. Check it out below, and look out for appearances from Damizza, Jedi Jared Moore, and Guilty as well!

Young De Drinks A Whole Bottle Of Patron [1st Time]

Since the bottle was already opened when he downed it in the first video, some people started to question if the whole segment was staged. To silence the haters, De brought the video camera back, went to the liquor store, and bought another bottle of Patron. He then opens the bottle right in front of the camera and starts to chug away. Does he finish it again this time? Find out below.

Young De Drinks A Whole Bottle Of Patron [2nd Time]

Now that you've gotten to know Young De a little better, add him as one of your friends on Myspace. "Audio Hustlaz Volume 1" is coming very soon, and Dubcnn will be here to get you ready for it.

news New Music From Dopey Loco of Baby Ree - By : Eddie Gurrola - November 23, 2007

The group Guilty is making a lot of noise out in the 805. Under the wise guidance of Damizza, the four-man coalition are currently grinding out hits for their upcoming mixtape, "No Contest." Back in September, we got the first solo single from group member Silas - "Not Me" - which blew up both on radio stations and right here on Dubcnn. Today we're back with another solo effort from the group, but this time you're going to hear from Dopey Loco.

Dopey decided to take it "straight to the club" when he crafted his single. The song, bluntly titled "Fuck Tonight," is produced by Damizza and "Jedi" Jared Moore. It's mixed by DJ Overtone, who will be hosting the "No Contest" mixtape as well. While you can definitely hear Damizza's influence in the production, it also sounds like the Baby Ree guys are working on a completely fresh sound up in Santa Barbara. Have a listen for yourself below:

Dopey Loco - Fuck Tonight [Produced by Damizza & "Jedi" Jared Moore]

Make sure to add Dopey Loco, Guilty, "Jedi" Jared Moore, and Damizza to your Myspace friends list.

The entire Baby Ree crew was present for Young De of Tangled Thoughts' "Patron" video shoot last weekend. We have also received word that Damizza's "Unreeleased" album is now set for a January 29th release date.

news Jay-Z Proves His "American Gangster" (Review) - By : ConanMilne - November 12, 2007

This past Tuesday, Roc Boy Jay-Z released his anxiously anticipated new studio album, American Gangster. As many of you will be aware, Jigga's latest is a conceptual record influenced by both the movie that shares its title and S. Carter's ascent in Hip-Hop. Since American Gangster's release there has been fervent discussion in the community over whether or not Jay has delivered another classic. As a result, DubCNN decided to weigh in on the debate and have penned a review of the acclaimed record.

American Gangster receives the Dub Quotable: "The majority of those who embrace American Gangster, however, will not dwell on such punch-lines. Rather, they will be enthralled by what remains a plush, cinematic masterstroke," and earns an astonishing Dub Rating. To find out just how highly the album was scored, check the full review below:

news Mistah FAB vs. Royce Da 5'9 - Next Round! - By : Nima - November 6, 2007

We recently had an update on the current verbal feud between the Bay Area's Mistah F.A.B. and Detroit's Royce Da 5'9, which got started after F.A.B. beat Royce at the AllHipHop.com battle (click here to watch). Royce afterwoods mentioned Mistah FAB on his "Blue Magic" freestyle (click here to listen), which made F.A.B. come back with a full blown diss over Obie Trice's "Shit Hits The Fan" beat (click here to listen).

Now, Royce took this to the second round with his latest 7-minute diss record "Who Got Bodies", which you can download below:

Royce Da 5'9 - Who Got Bodied

Royce came hard on this one, picking several different beats, even rapping over the "Tell Me When To Go" beat, mentioning Bay Area rappers and getting phone recordings from people F.A.B. mentioned in his diss. We all know Royce's battling skills from his feud with Eminem & D-12, but F.A.B.'s been surprising a lot of people, so we'll see what happens! Make up your own mind about who's diss you like more, and stay tuned for the latest developments right here on dubcnn.

news Ice Cube States "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" ! - By : Nima - November 1, 2007

News about Ice Cube's high anticipated solo album "Raw Footage" have been scarce so far, all we know is that Cube is in a zone right now, and that he's feeling good about himself.

When we spoke to WC in August, he had the following to say about the album: " Raw Footage! *laughs* That shit is so retarded! The title for itself just explains everything, it's raw footage, it's uncut, it's that raw shit. Gangsta rap at its finest man! He's feeling good, he's loving rap once again, because we got a chance to do what the fuck we wanna do!"

Well, a first street single was sent out to media outlets just hours ago called "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It", and it is clear that Ice Cube is angry! He's coming hard and not holding back: "I can act like an animal - ain't nothing to it, gangsta made me do it!"

Go ahead and hear for yourself, click below for "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It":
