 There's no denying that the West Coast has something to offer for everybody right now: While the wave of new artists is currently buzzin', we also have the veterans still holding it down as the backbone – such as the recently formed supergroup 1st Generation. Last week, Dubcnn brought you the visual for "Killing Me Softly", which is the kick-off track from their upcoming album "Sharks N The Water" coming this summer.
Today we follow up with some exclusive video footage of 1st Generation. Dubcnn joined King T, MC Eiht, Tha Chill, Sir Jinx, and Jayo Felony in the studio a few weeks ago as they prepared their set for KDAY's "Krush Groove", which is going down tomorrow, Friday. Kurupt and Gangsta of The Comrads were missing from the session, but you know you're gonna get some cool footage nonetheless. Watch the video as they go through some of the songs/beats from "Sharks N The Water" as well as some classics with special guest Deadly Threat.

 After a series of popular underground fight DVDs, the creators of "Felony Fights" are parlaying their underground success into full-fledged live MMA event and music festival ... and, West Coast vets such as E-40, Too Short, and Psycho Realm are serving as the event's music headliners.
Cage Vs. Cons is set to kick off its inaugural event on May 21st at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena in Los Angeles, CA and boasts a stacked bill of hip-hop vets.
From early in the day until well into the evening, concertgoers will get a large helping of hip-hop with over 20-plus acts gracing the cage/stage; while 10 professionally sanctioned MMA fights will cap the evening.
"We're meshing hip-hop with MMA, with each artist, not only performing, but also contributing to the event's soundtrack. It's a fight-themed, which we are giving out for free to fans of the event," said co-founder Daniel Laughlin. "It's gonna be a real vicious event. The baddest motherf***ers in hip-hop, and the baddest fighters -- cops fighting convicts. It's an event that's never been done.
"I've been involved in the fight game for a long time, and then Danny came on. He's always been involved in the music game. What we did was basically meshed our passions together," adds event co-founder Michael Lynch. "We're doing it big, and there's a lot of different things coming out to coincide with the event -- a reality show, online PPV."
In addition to the aforementioned headliners, the event's line-up includes performers such as Wu-Tang Clan affiliate Killah Priest, Ras Kass, B-Real, Tha Dogg Pound, Kurupt, Kool Keith, 40 Glocc, Shabazz The Disciple, Agallah, and Mobb Deep affiliate Big Twins, among others.
The organizers have already released a full-length soundtrack, featuring music recorded exclusively for the event, to get fans acquainted with the acts. The 19-track release has music from all the artists on the bill, and can be downloaded for free at their official website, CageVsCons.com.
The event's main draw -- the MMA fights -- will be headlined by cage fighter Ismael Gonzalez -- who just happens to be a cop -- taking on convict "Notorious" Rick Slaton, who got into mixed martial arts when in 2001 after a stint in state prison. Other bouts include pro-MMA vets, as well as amateurs attempting to make their mark on the sport.
The day will also include a tattoo expo, says the event's organizers, with several artists and tattoo shops inking patrons throughout the day in booths set-up at the venue. Hosting duties will be handled by actor Tiny Lister (aka Deebo from Friday), Mexican actor Danny Trejo, and notorious drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross.

 You might have heard about the newest super-group on the West Coast, 1st Generation. The all-star ensemble brings together founding members of some of L.A.'s legendary groups Dogg Pound, Compton's Most Wanted and Likwit Crew.
The official members are Kurupt, King Tee, MC Eiht, Tha Chill, Sir Jinx, Gangsta and Jayo Felony and it is said that they are working on their debut album, "Sharks N The Water".
Battlecat and Tha Chill will be handling the bulk of the production. A first video has been released online called "Killing Me Softly", check it out:

 For the 12th edition of dubcnn's "Remembering Nate Dogg" series, we cooked up something special. We linked up with the G-Child himself, Warren G, for an extensive interview about his close friend and musical partner Nate Dogg.
Warren talks to us about their childhood growing up together and how they formed 213 with Nate, Snoop and himself. We talked about the making of "Regulate" and its huge impact on the industry. Warren also describes a typical studio session with Nate and shares some memories of songs they recorded.
He opens up about the times after Nate's first and second stroke, visiting him and helping him with his therapy, steady praying and hoping for a full recovery. Finally, we speak about Warren's upcoming tribute song "This Is Dedicated To You" (dropping April 26th) and future plans of a Warren G and Nate Dogg EP with unreleased music.

 WIDEawake-Deathrow Entertainment LLC, which acquired the assets of Death Row Records in 2009, prevailed again Tuesday in its ongoing legal battle with Dr. Dre. The United States District Court for the Central District of California partially granted its motion for summary judgment against the Death Row co-founder, and former recording artist.
Judge Christina Snyder threw out Dre’s claims for triple damages, punitive damages, attorneys’ fees, specific performance, injunctive relief and an accounting. She ruled that, if anything, the plaintiff may only seek actual damages, and the amount of his alleged damages (if any) must be decided by a jury trial.
This is the second major success for WIDEawake-Deathrow Entertainment LLC in the case. Last December, the company also successfully defeated earlier claims brought in the same federal suit by Dre for false advertising, trademark infringement, trademark dilution, violation of right of publicity and unfair competition.

 South Central, L.A., the birthplace of many of the most notorious and violent gangs in history, also birthed multi-platinum record producer and executive, Laylaw, who began writing songs at the young age of seventeen.
Soon after high school, this developing entrepreneur founded his own record label called Rolexx Records -- which landed a distribution deal with Macola Records (the same distributor as World Class Wreckin’ Cru, Ice-T and other pioneering recording artists).
The ground-breaking roots of Laylaw trace back deep within the concrete history of music -- as you can find the musical fingerprints of Laylaw with Dr. Dre during (and before) Ruthless Records, Death Row Records and Aftermath Entertainment. One of the originators of the celebrated G-Funk sound, Laylaw was introduced to the famed super-producer at a young age, who began producing some of Laylaw’s early songs. Dr. Dre’s name is listed as “Mechanic” on Laylaw’s earlier projects due to Dre’s deal with Epic – a fascinating note to the history of Andre Romelle Young. Don’t be surprised if you hear Laylaw somewhere on the most highly-coveted hip-hop albums of all time “Detox.”
Laylaw wrote most of Michel’le’s self-titled debut album released through Ruthless Records, which sold over 3 million copies worldwide, and spawned 2 double platinum-selling singles, 1 platinum-selling single and 2 gold-selling singles. From the premature days, Eazy E had Laylaw in the studio basically mentoring him during N.W.A. and Eazy E’s historical recordings. Laylaw turned down major publishing deal offers and remained loyal to Ruthless Records as he went on to help launch the careers of the Above The Law group, as well as legendary rapper/singer Kokane.
Kokane, who is also a cousin of Above The Law's main member Cold 187um (aka Big Hutch), signed with Ruthless Records in 1991 and made a cameo on NWA's Efil4zaggin album. He followed this up with his debut album Addictive Hip Hop Muzick. Produced by Cold 187 and Laylaw, the album enjoyed critical and commercial success. Kokane has since worked with several of hip-hop’s greatest artists and producers such as Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, 2Pac, P. Diddy, Jadakiss, 50 Cent, G-Unit and several others. Kokane has become arguably the most featured artist of all-time.
While traveling on the road with Ice Cube, in a room together every day, Laylaw witnessed firsthand the unraveling of arguably the most important group in rap history, N.W.A. Laylaw is still close friends with Ice Cube to this day and he submits music to whatever project Cube is working on at the time.
A closer look behind the music you will see that Laylaw is one of the original producers of “California Love (remix)”, one of the best-known and most successful singles of 2Pac’s extensive catalog, going 3x platinum, while being a part of the over 10x platinum-selling album All Eyez On Me.
Delving deeper into the history of 2Pac, you will see Laylaw listed as the producer to the title track of his highly successful, critically-acclaimed sophomore album, Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z A little further in, you will see that the collaboration of 2Pac and Laylaw continued up until 2Pac’s untimely death.

 Dubcnn got a chance to catch up with DJ Dow Jones last month for an exclusive interview. The only Shadyville DJ in all of Canada, it’s clear that DJ Dow Jones has been doing something right for a long time now. As an influential DJ throughout the country, DJ Dow Jones became Bishop Lamont’s official tour DJ after a few run ins with the former Aftermath emcee in Winnipeg and Vancouver.
Never considering himself a mixtape DJ, Dow Jones decided to turn an idea he had in his head to fruition when he began working on the The Free Trade Agreement - which we dropped in February.
The project sees Canadian and American emcees and producers thrown together showcasing Canadian rappers over American producer’s beats and vice versa. Warren G, Nate Dogg, Bishop Lamont, Kobe and more make appearances. For those that missed it we dropped the audio for Faded with Nate Dogg & SonReal in January.

As announced a few days ago, Long Beach rapper and producer Warren G has recorded a heartfelt tribute song to his lifelong friend and musical partner Nate Dogg, who passed away in March.
The song, entitled "This Is Dedicated To You", features the incredible talents of soul singer LaToiya Williams and finds Warren paying tribute to Nate and sharing memories of their times together with the music world.

It was 2009 when we first told you about the expected release of "Knoc's Ville" - the latest album from Knoc-Turn'Al. Since then we have not been short of new music from Knoc, most notably the 01.11.11 Mixtape in late 2010.
The "Knoc's Ville" release has suffered delays its initial announcement but today we have news that May is the month that Treacherous Records/Hoopla Media Group/LRT Entertainment will at long last drop the eagerly awaited LP in digital format. According to sources the reason for the digital only release is "to ensure that the even longer awaited "Book Of Knoc" LP can be released this year."
Earlier this year we gave you the expected single from the album, If U Wanna featuring K-Young however the tracklist below does not include this record so expect this to be a leftover or bonus record.
The tracklist, shown below, is similar to the one we gave you in June 2009 and features a host of artists from Treacherous Records and associated labels including One-2, Jaguar, Crooked I, Jayo Felony, Yukmouth and Sly Boogy amongst others.
Production on the release is handled by the usual suspects of J-Beam, Blaqthoven and of course Komplex.

Jerry B. Long/Kokane is preparing to launch a new LP entititled, "In The Middle Of The Road", though his own Bud E Boy Ent label in the summer of 2011. This new LP will showcase his distinctive voice in ways his fans have never heard from him before and they will get a taste of the “R&B Soul” that brings back memories of the 80’s and 90’s in it’s purest form.
One of the first releases from the new album is an infectious tune called “Who Iz U” produced by Mr. Caviar & Secret Specialist, which will feature a remix version of the song with the Grammy Award winning artist Cee-Lo and Big Gipp of Goodie Mobb. Mayne T.R.I.P. - an acronym standing for Truly Respecting Intelligent Prophets - was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio but - having been accepted to the Cleveland School of Arts to study music - had to move with his mother and two sisters to the West Coast in the early 90's.
Since getting into music full time Mayne T.R.I.P. has performed at various locations across Cali; L.A. & Orange County's House Of Blues, The Key Club, Whiskey A-Go-Go, The Knitting Factory in Hollywood, The Galaxy Theater in Orange County and countless clubs and bars across the state.
Since 1999, Mayne has released 6 solo projects under his own indie label MayneLyne Musik. His most recent "The Mayne Event Volume 2", which is now available for download via MayneLyne Musik, was part of the reason for the LRT Entertainment deal.
Right now he is focusing on releasing the third installment "The Mayne Event Volume 3: From Cleveland 2 Cali EP" - cover shown to the right - hosted by Arizona's own DJ John Blaze in the summer.  Treacherous Records MC One-2 is finally getting ready to release his long awaited double EP "History / Destiny", with one EP being raw, uncut Hip-Hop shit and the other having a more experimental, contemporary style.
The EP will be entirely produced by Komplex and we should have a release date on the project very soon. For now, dubcnn has received two new leaks - not off the EP - with the purpose of holding the fans over until the full project sees the light of day.

.......................................................................................... Xzibit Releases Two New Music Videos With Extreme Music - By : Nima - April 16, 2011
 Official Press Release: (Los Angeles, CA) Rapper Xzibit has teamed with Extreme Music, the production music library arm of Sony/ATV Music Publishing, to release a new compilation of material titled "Urban Ammo 2".
Xzibit produced, composed and performed the tracks on "Urban Ammo 2", which contains 40 tracks, created primarily for professional music users and music supervisors in need of material for their movie/television productions. Extreme Music has made two of the 40 tracks available to the public via iTunes.
Xzibit enlisted veteran director Matt Alonzo to shoot the videos for the two singles, which are titled "Man on the Moon" and "What It Is", both featuring Demrick aka Young De.
“Working with Extreme has been a wonderful experience," Xzibit told AllHipHop.com in a press release. "The music created for Urban Ammo 2 has been [in] collaboration with artists whom I feel are the next generation of stars in Hip Hop, R&B and Rock. Unleashing these tracks is gonna wreak some havoc!”

 Dubcnn extensively reported on Bay Area rapper Blanco's latest solo album "American Psycho", which was jam packed with big features from Redman, Freeway, Nipsey Hussle, Dorrough, The Jacka and many more.
For those who remember, Blanco had released a free mixtape project a few weeks before the album came out entitled "Portrait Of A Serial Killer", which was entirely produced by Spanish super producers Cookin' Soul.
Blanco is going back and releasing a 3-part video trilogy off that project, which will give the fans a better insight of who Blanco is artistically. We have the first video available for you today, with the next two following in the coming weeks. Check out "I Know" below:

They grew up together, entered the industry together, regulated the game together and won over the fans’ heart together. Warren G and the late Nate Dogg were a combination that was one of a kind, that will never be duplicated, and as they said it on one of their most memorable hits: „Nobody does it better“.
Since the tragic passing of Nathanial „Nate Dogg“ Hale in March, the music world is heartbroken, knowing that the void created by the loss of one of Hip-Hop’s most soulful voices will never be filled again.
Warren G, while mourning the death of his close friend, took it to the studio and let the pen capture some of the emotions he was and still is feeling every day.
On „This Is Dedicated To You“, which will be dropping very soon, Warren, with the help of the incredible LaToiya Williams, shares his love for Nate Dogg with his fans. He takes us on a ride, from the good times making music together, to the difficult times after Nate’s strokes, all the way to losing him and singers imitating his style.
Warren’s frustration and desperation becomes clear with lines such: „Regulatin’ the era, standing side by side and we down for whatever / that’s the days of the past now I’m looking at the future like f-ck, I don’t even wanna do music!“
He also opens up on the hard times, seeing his brother in rehab: „Life is such a trip, I know the world is full of madness / Relearning how to walk and talk again, I can’t imagine.“
Lastly, Warren takes a shot at artists trying to come out sounding like or imitating Nate’s style: „What the hell is going on? N-ggas been biting songs, hell nah that ain’t Nate Dogg!“

 Hoodz Finest Dubb had a quiet end to 2010 but the former Black Wall Street and Black Card Gang affiliate had been busy working on blasting off in 2011 with the release of his Face Of California mixtape that we dropped in January.
Recently he followed up with the video for Passin Me By and today we are back with a new freestyle where he is stating his claim for the XXL 2012 Freshman List - which this year included Kendrick Lamar, Yelawolf and YG [see the full list here.

 You know him as Compton's future aka the Good Kid in a Bad City aka K.Dot, but he's best known as Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick has witnessed a fantastic past year, transitioning from "promosing up and comer" to being "next up to bat"!
His unique style and delivery, which combines street lyricsm with eclectic poetry has made him a fan favorite all across the board. After his critically acclaimed album O(verly) D(edicated) last summer, we have been patiently waiting for a new release from the Top Dawg Ent artist.
After the other TDE artists, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul all recently dropped their latest projects, Kendrick announced his upcoming solo album "Section.80", set to drop later this year.
 The official first single was released moments ago on iTunes via Top Dawg Ent/EMPIRE Distribution, it's called "HiiiPoWeR" was produced by none other than J. Cole, with whom Kendrick is also said to be doing a full project (more news on that soon).

 By now you've read the name OG Cuicide on dubcnn more than a couple of times. From collaborating with Swedish rapper Allyawan on the song "Stikkup" to his recently released single "Never Give Up", all the way to his collabo with RBX, "Bang For The Westside", Cuicide has been on his grind.
Today he sent us the official music video to his single "Never Give Up", and it's a certified West Coast banger! The song was very well received and the visuals definitely enhance the record, so go ahead and check it out below:

 It's been way too long since AllFrumTha I were on Dubcnn and today they break that hiatus with the release of two new records from their upcoming album "Road To Redemption" which is due out on May 31, 2011.
For those that need a refresher, the duo from Inglewood, California, are Binky Mack and Squeak Ru who first appeared together on Westside Connection' 1996 debut "Bow Down" before dropping their debut self-titld album "Allfrumtha I" in 1998, a sophomore in 2011 called "Uncut" and then "Larger Than Life" in 2005 - the latter featuring heavily on Dubcnn.
The duo have also released solo efforts over the years and appeared on countless albums and mixtapes. They are back for 2011 with "Road To Redemption" and have dropped two singles from the LP to Dubcnn. First up is "Az U Do This" - which is available in Explicit, Clean & Instrumental formats - and "Pity Party" featuring Keesha Rowe and Boo Kapone.
