 JNaturaL Drops Debut LP Exec Produced By Aceyalone - By : Rud - June 30, 2011
 Executively produced by southland icon Aceyalone, J Natural's debut LP "Love Is On Hiatus" is a rousing, jazzed inflected hip-hop album which has recently caught the ears of Dubcnn. Following in the tradition of uncompromising and strong emcees like Jean Grae and Medusa, "Love Is On Hiatus" features Aceyalone and Abstract Rude with production from San Diego beat maker Jeff Wonder.
For those who don't know JNatural she was raised in Los Angeles by her grandmother and aunt and went to an all-girls Catholic high school, which she says despite their renown for breeding wild girls, that there were major benefits to not having boys around to distract her, not the least of which was that she learned to speak her mind.
It was around high school when JNat tried her hand at turntables and discovered SLAM poetry. By college, JNatural and her friends were staying up late night dissecting the lyrics of Freestyle Fellowship, Living Legends and Hiero and scratching out rhymes of her own.
In 2005 during a chance meeting with one of her icons Aceyalone at a Medusa show, she slipped him her latest CD. "He called the next day and asked me to come in to the studio to record and be part of the (SIS)tem, an all female group he was putting together."
A year later JNatural teamed up with producer/photographer Jeff Wonder to produce her first globally distributed project "Escape From Babylon" before releasing the "Sex Lies and Sextape" mixtape mixed by DJ Ray Ray Raw in 2008.
J Natural's debut LP "Love Is On Hiatus" has just been released on iTunes and today we have a track from the LP entitled "They Want Sex" as well as a video for the Remix to that record featuring Medusa - check them below.

 Mac Lucci, one half of the Snoop Dogg endorsed group Hustle Boyz, has been one of the busiest guys on the west in 2011 with multiple projects on the go. Since late 2010 when we dropped the Snoop Dogg & DJ Age presented Cortez Muzik Volume 1 mixtape he has been conistantly hitting fans off with new music.
Since January we have brought you media including a video from the Cortez Muzik Volume 1 release called Fire Tearz with Da Rilla & Scavie Scoobs, a track with his daughter L Princess called Ambitionz As A Rydah a video with Jesus Boi entitled You Can Make A Change, the Life Is freestyle and its video and On My Hustle, a collaboration track with Da Rilla.
Last month we got huge news that Mac Lucci was working on a movie entitled "California Hustle" which is written by himself and directed by Fish High. The film, which stars Mac Lucci, Freeway Ricky Ross, 2Eleven, Kanary Diamond, Damani, Pilot and more will be accompanied by a full-length album executive produced by Snoop Dogg featuring Snoop Dogg, Macy Gray, Kurupt, Daz Dillinger, D-Dimes and more.
We dropped the first leak off the album, the Dae One produced and Smokey Lane assisted song Cali Life as well as Behind The Scenes Footage of the California Lifestyle Movie and a bonus video, dedication to 2Pac called Troublesome 2011.
Since then the work on the movie and the album has intensified and just this week Mac Lucci has released the follow up to his 2010 Cortez Muzik Volume 1 with DJ Age and Snoop Dogg by releasing Volume 2. The tape, which features D-Dimes, Kurupt, T-Raw, Da Rilla, Snoopy Bluem, Big Doty, Boobie Soprano, Eastwood, Michelob, Dogg Pound, Livewire, Snoop Dogg and more can be downloaded in full and for free below!

 Earlier this month Pr1me celebrated six months since the release of his DJ Far hosted In My Pr1me mixtape by releasing the long awaited Untagged Version right here on Dubcnn.
The tape, which was the follow up to Stylafornia and The Transformation: Perception Is Deception - the latter of which has always promised a follow up in the form of the anticipated "The Transformation 2: The Resistance" - which as we told you in that last update is due this year. The good news today is that it's closer than you think!

 As last weeks All NEW Dubcnn Radio Show was delayed until Monday of this week we decided to hold off the new installment of the Microphone Masters Radio Show with J-Luv and Blaze Rock until today.
Last week marked the beginning of Summer. And what better way to bring in the triple digit heat than with another wonderful episode of the Microphone Masters Radio Show?  It's been a few months since we hit you with our most recent update from Orange County MC J. King. The artist - who first appeared in 2009 with singles including All Ive Ever Known with Crooked I, Money Motivated with Sav Sinatra and the J Steez produced Get To My Head alongside Kali - has been streadily releasing new music since late December 2010.
It was in December when he dropped On The Grind featuring Glasses Malone, Ariano & Medusa over another J Steez production as well as We Hustle that featured Adriano & C4mula.
That new material and our most recent media drop, the single Back On The Atlas produced by Soul Mechanix and featuring cuts by LD of Technicali Sound, are all records building up to his "Next To Bat" release which is due later this summer.  Sometimes a release lands in the Dubcnn inbox accompanied by an email that meets many of my criteria for a potential feature - some of which mirror those that HipHopDX's own Mike Trampe recently wrote in a great piece on NewIndustryTips [check it via this weeks Loose Links].
The email was respectful, specific to dubcnn and fundamentally containted great music - artists take note! With that said let me introduce you to Yonkers representer Brandon "Chance" Harris-Little, a man whom only three years ago as a 20-year-old suffered a mysterious "stroke" that left him unconscious and in critical condition for 3 days.
Over the weeks that followed Chance took time to reflect on situations in his past. "I started thinking about how many close calls I've had and how many other people in similar situations didn't get through them; and I realized it had to be a reason I was still here and that I wasn't gonna keep getting these 2nd chances."
From then on Chance threw himself fully into music, going on to release 3 solo mixtapes "Tell A Friend," "The Misadventures of George Kush" and "Daddy's Home" and appearing on mixtapes from popular DJ's including Tapemasters Inc., DJ L-Gee, DJ Bedz, DJ Mino & DJ Trigga.
Aside from being just an artist Chance also ensured he had a hand in the industry itself by forming Crack Distributors Radio - which has become one of the most popular and influential webshows in urban music - as well as working as a rumors assistant for AllHipHop.com.
He has just recently released his "LOVE Chance EP" - the first in a trilogy of projects he plans to deliver in 2011 - "The LOVE Drug" and "Letters From A LOVEr" are to be the next in the sequence.
We spoke to Chance to ask about the planned trilogy; "If the "LOVE Trilogy" were an addiction, "LOVE Chance" would be the first hit. The first time you get high, the first time you have sex, the first time you hit a lick. With this project I wanted to focus on the lighter side of living life fast, the side that gets you hooked. My next release "The LOVE Drug" would be when that addiction goes from being something you WANT to something you NEED. When the passion becomes obsession and you lose control. The final EP of the trilogy, "Letters From A LOVEr" would be rehab. When you can look back with a clear head and understand what that addiction did to you and regain control of your future while evolving from the experience," he explained.

After going through several hard hitting family tragedies and working his way through his trials and tribulations, Wayne hit me up the other day, officially announcing that he's actively making music again.
He's currently working on his album "Bi-Polar" and sent over a single off the album called "Natural Born Star", which features Major James and was produced by Tariq.

 Demrick aka Young De and producer Scoop DeVille have teamed up for a six song EP entitled "Neva Look Back", which will be made available for free download in July. Known for his production with Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Fat Joe and others, Scoop explains how the EP came to be.
"Young De and I have been collaborating on joints with everybody for the past few years. During the process we worked on numerous records which turned into having our own project Neva Look Back EP."
A fast rising name in hip hop, De is known for his work with Cypress Hill, B Real, Xzibit, Kurupt and more. The duo's first collaboration was on B-Real's single "Don't You Dare Laugh", which was produced by Scoop.
"Scoop & I have been working together for a minute now, we just click," says Young De. "Dope lyrics with hard beats, that's all."

 As we reported in late April and again last week the official debut album release from Co$$ the Los Angeles MC repping Leimert Park, entitled "Before I Awoke" was due for release this week. Yesterday, June 21st, 2011, Tres Records released "Before I Awoke" with an AOL streaming session before making it available on iTunes and Amazon.
The album, which includes production from Exile, Fonetik Simbol, J83 and Cook Classics, features artists including Blu, Aloe Blacc, Sene, and Shawn Jackson.
The only tracks available up until now was the iTunes only single Spaceman - alongside B-Side tracks "Born Again" with Blu and Sene and "Da Meanest" produced by Exile - and the free download leak from Only When I Dream with Sene & Aloe Blacc.

 In early February we dropped an update on an artist by the name of Phinesse who hails from Melbourne and is one of the most hyped urban acts in Australia.
In his short career he has done what many can only dream of, performing alongside 50 Cent, T-Pain, Ne-Yo, Big Boi, Lil Jon as well as having a national hit with "I Can’t Wait" which not only received rave reviews on MTV, Channel V, Fox Fm and Nova but also appeared on the Warner Music gold selling RNB Superclub compilation. This combined led him to appear on the Konvict Music Tour performing alongside Akon and T-Pain before recording at the NY Fight Club studio Twice As Nice and Rockwilder.
In our last update we told you that Phinesse has been finalising a debut album and before is planning to release a buzz-mixtape entitled "Reborn," from which we brought you the Glasses Malone and The Menace featured cut It's Over (TOTW Mix).  Tha Alumni Music Group releases the highly anticipated debut album "Daydreamer" by Los Angeles recording artist Kid Ink.
"Daydreamer" includes production from the likes of The Runners, Lex Luger, Tha Bizness, Jahlil Beats, Cardiak, KE on the Track as well as features from Cory Gunz, Ray J, Gudda Gudda, Meek Mill, Bei Maejor, Dorrough, Sean Kingston and more.
This album is executive produced by Tha Alumni President DJ ill Will. Ill Will adds "We have been working on this album non stop for the last 6 months, Ink is really gonna shake some shit up when this project is released to the masses!"
Kid Ink adds: "My first project with Ill Will "Crash Landing" was kind of a warm up where I was just finding my sound as an artist. With Daydreamer, I was much more comfortable in my sound and we really pushed the envelope, I am just really excited to see the response!"
The street single off the album, "Lowkey Poppin", was released in March and gained quite a buzz in the streets. The second official release off the "Daydreamer" album is Kid Ink's Official Single "Live It Up" which features fellow rising Westside star Mann and will be serviced immediately to radio for the Summer:

Every once in awhile, someone bucks the trend of dissapointments and showcases an ability to put a genuinely interesting slant on the culture with an opportunity to influence the masses in a positive way.
This Venice, California artist - the son of a divorced-blind poet, classically trained pianist and violinist with a Bachelor’s degree of Iranian descent - is exactly that someone: Enter Azad Right.

 The powerful voice of K-Boy will soon be returning to the Los Angeles rap scene, as the South Central rapper has spent more than a year rehabilitating from four gunshot wounds. K-Boy was shot four times back in May of 2010 due to the senseless violence that plagues the streets of Los Angeles. The shooting was a life-changing moment for K-Boy in more ways than one, helping change his outlook on life, family and his career.
He's been working hard to recover and has focused on the positives in his life, including his talents on the microphone. To fully showcase his skill among the top new faces from California, he's planned his musical return with a powerful record that features Top Dawg Ent's Kendrick Lamar.
The two teamed up for a song called "By Any Means (Malcolm X)", which personifies their belief in the civil rights giant and his work ethic. The song will be followed by the exclusive video, which will be released on Monday, June 27.

All entries will be reviewed and the winner will be handpicked by Terrace Martin, himself, and will be placed on the upcoming "Locke High 2" album as a bonus track.

Tommy Black is a producer out of Sweden who has been working constantly over the last couple of years producing music for Kendrick Lamar, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, Butch Cassidy, Pr1me, J-Ro (Tha Alkaholics) and many more.
His CV reads like a whose-who of the new breed of westcoast artists with his hands on tracks from Kendrick Lamar's Overly Dedicated (OD) project, the Ab-Soul Long Term 2: Lifestyles Of The Broke & Almost Famous mixtape, Schoolboy Q's Setbacks mixtape as well as appearing on the Butch Cassidy mixtape I'm Here on the "Street Life" record with Pr1me & Drastic.
In that last update we told you that he is continuing to work with a whole host of artists but is also working on his own mixtape "The Medkit" and in the build up released his Interludes Of Life, a 5 track Cosmic-Funk/Jazz influenced hip hop instrumentals EP, which included the standout Undawater Boogie.
"The Medkit" had been planned for an April release but has been pushed back to a late summer drop-date but we've been sent the first leak from the project, "Supernatural" which features Ab-Soul - check it out below!

Official Press Release: (Los Angeles, CA) RareInk today announced a partnership with hip hop icon Ice Cube with the unveiling of a series of original artwork in collaboration with RareInk – a charity-focused company delivering music fans original, authentic autographed art of their favorite recording artists created in conjunction with RareInk’s collective of fine artists from around the world.
“Expanding the interaction with fans of my music by offering limited edition, signed artwork that they are able to share and enjoy with their friends and family is something I feel my fans deserve,” said Ice Cube, who in addition to being the RareInk’s first artist will serve as the company’s strategic advisor. “With RareInk, music fans now have an online destination for unique, autographed art that they know is real. Not only does RareInk create amazing pieces of art that bring my albums and songs to life but a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Minority AIDS Project, an organization I have worked with over the past two decades.”
Ice Cube’s first series of artwork will be released on Wednesday, June 22nd at 10:00 A.M. PDT; it is comprised of nine pieces available in limited edition runs of seventy-five to two hundred and fifty. The editions will be sold exclusively on RareInk.com and feature fine art quality prints of iconic photography, album covers, and original pieces.
Highlights include original artist reinterpretations of Ice Cube’s classic ‘Amerikkka’s Most Wanted’ and ‘The Predator’ album covers as well as a mural- themed piece based on his classic ‘It Was A Good Day’ video. Each piece is hand signed by Ice Cube, with two of the editions also including his handprint, which he dipped in paint and applied to each print.
Ice Cube’s first RareInk series features original works by artists MiQ Willmott (TWEEQIM), Kerry Laster (Phantom Kay), Mark Sgarbossa, Grzegorz Demoradzki (Gabz), and Leon Bedore (Tes One), as well as a portrait by renowned photographer Patrick Hoelck. The autographed large-scale prints range in size and price, from 24’’ by 24’’ album prints for $300, to the 36’’ by 24’’ Hoelck portrait which features Ice Cube’s handprint at $700.
The RareInk website showcases video of Ice Cube signing the pieces and discussing the artwork and albums. The signing and interview footage is also included on a DVD that is packaged with each print. In order to ensure the authenticity of the signature and artwork, each RareInk print is affixed with a uniquely serialized anti-counterfeit label on the back and includes a certificate of authenticity noting the edition number.
“In the music business we take a hit song, sample part of it, and try to make another hit record with it. In the same way, RareInk has taken my albums and turned them into amazing works of stand-alone art. The series is something I’m really proud of and I’m sure other recording artists are going to want to get involved, both for their fans and their charities,” commented Ice Cube.

 It never ceases to amaze me how many artists Dubcnn has covered since we went live in 2002. Some were already household names, some have since become names known to many, while others fade away. One artist we covered way back in 2005 was an up an coming emcee out of the I.E. by the name of SkiLL.
In 2005 we dropped his self titled mixtape - which we still have in our archives, check SkiLL - Tha Mixtape Volume 1 - as well as tracks that were to be from Volume 2 including a record with 40 Glocc called "The Dino".
Since that update in 2005 SkiLL hasnt featured on Dubcnn - until today! Just recently we got an
email from the IE artist who has a new agenda.
SkiLL aims to use his music to approach listeners from a new angle, as he puts it; "Use my music to expose fake rappers and religious hypocrites, discuss religion, the new world order agenda's, the extremities of a true relationship with God, true joy, all the while telling hood stories and looking at the direction that the youth are going in."
To showcase this SkiLL has sent us some music to release, firstly a record called "The West Coast Didnt Fade Away" produced by Da Saint, followed by a track entitled "In This 2 Win This" produced by Tristan Giallani and finally a 3 Track Sampler mix featuring music from hus in-house production team - check them below.

 Fresno, CA, representer Rich Nix released his 559 Network compilation "Valley Kings" today, June 14th 2011. Rich Nix, who is originally from San Francisco, first started out as one third of the group Tha Unda, while goin to college in San Jose.
Rich Nix ended up moving to Fresno and linked up with a female singer by the name of A. Rose. Together, they formed the group Koncrete Rose and released their first project in 2010, which spawned the video to "Welcome To The West Coast".
The video got great placements online and was very well received in the Fresno and Central Valley area.
For his new 559 compilation "Valley Kings", Nix took a new approach: "On this project, I tried to get everybody together from the Central Valley. It seemed as if the Central Valley was missing unity, everybody was doing their own thing in their own areas, for whatever reasons. Whether it's hood tension or people feeling like they don't need help - it doesn't matter. I just wanted to unite everybody from that area as a whole."
He reached out to some of the hottest artists and put them all on one record. Features include Diego Redd, Shake Da Mayor, Killa Tay, Les Vegas, Relentless and Grafik Ruffin (from the Grizzly Gang, which is Fashawn's camp). Rich Nix also reached out to a couple of Bay Area artists to appear on the project such as The Jacka and Erk Tha Jerk.
 "I just wanted to display the artists that were really trying to push and grind and make it happen. These are all people who make good music and I'm trying to establish the bond between artists so we can get some type of industry buzz out there. Fashawn and Planet Asia have put us out there but it still hanse't been too much attention on the Valley. There's a lot of talent out here."
Right now, two videos have been released: "Welcome To The Westcoast Remix", a posse cut featuring Koncrete Rose, WCDT, KT, Pillioniares, Grafik Ruffin, Diego Redd, Les Vegas and Alexio Cade. Also, the video to "Face Down", which features Rich Nix, Andy P and Alexio Cade went live this week.
