news Supa Nova Slom F/ The Game & Jadakiss - G's Up Salute - May 29, 2007 By : JustinL

RA RA NTRtainment is pleased to introduce Supa Nova Slom. Supa Nova is a hip hop artist with a movement: Unify the Hood, Heal the Hood —the title of his forthcoming debut release. The first single off the album is "G's Up Salute" featuring The Game and Jadakiss.

Coming fresh out of Brooklyn, Supa Nova's album has already started to gain traction, as has his call for social healing: after spending his teenage years running with gangs, Supa Nova had a wake-up call.

Before long, he found a better way of life and started taking it to the streets. His DVD/CD combo release, Holistic Wellness for A Hip Hop Generation has sold over 100,000 copies and continues to fly off the shelves. BET.com has noted it as "a documentary that is going to teach self-improvement to the hip hop generation."

Supa Nova has already proven that he has the mind of a CEO and the heart of a healer. With his debut album, he's bringing his skills as an MC front and center. Unify the Hood, Heal the Hood showcases a cast of hip hop's elite—on top of Jadakiss and The Game, Supa Nova is joining forces with Ice-T, Dead Prez, Erykah Badu, and others.

"You know what time it is, " Unify the Hood, Heal the Hood" is how it's going down…Real talk...I Love It." – JADAKISS

"I'm ridin' or dyin' with my homie, Supa Nova..."Unify the Hood, Heal the Hood "— that's what you should be doing!" – ICE-T

news Class In Session For Madi B With Debut Album - May 20, 2007 By : Rud

We first introduced you to Carson native Madi B back in February this year [see; Carson Native Madi-B Gathers Momentum With Hit Single] when we had his single "My Money's Long" for free download. Today we are back with news of his debut album "Street G.E.D." which hits stores on June 5, 2007.

With his current hit single My Money’s Long continuing to climb the top 200 singles chart Madi B is taking some time to present his story to the young ones of his region.

Currently in the middle of a high-school tour to promote the Anytime Records release "Street G.E.D." the mindful rapper understands the brevity of the messages in today’s hip-hop climate, so when the kids get turned on by the seemingly glamorous lyrics of his former lifestyle, he speaks to how the realities of that mind-state got him caught up.

"There are a lot of unfortunate realities in hip-hop music today because this music comes from the heart of the streets. These streets breed a lot of different elements some good, some bad; but when you’re chasing the dollar it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of the fast living and the fast money. It can turn you into someone you never thought you’d be, good or bad, unless you gain some perspective."

"Street G.E.D." drops science on how it goes down in the life of a hustler. Madi B, like many others, chose to learn his lessons the hard way, but now when he boasts about his money being long, it’s because he’s making sound decisions with his life and his business; and when his young fans ask him about living the life of a star, he lets them know the real.

"Street G.E.D." covers a whole spectrum of topics and issues, from the party anthems of "Glasses Up," to the bravado of "So Fresh, So Clean" Madi B ensures he delivers an array of messages. "Street G.E.D." provides you with a musical dissertation of street life by one of its own. For those still to hear Madi B's hit single, check it out below.

For the latest on Madi B stay tuned to dubcnn and make sure you hit him up via his official MySpace page.

news Mike Jones Gives It Up To The West On "My 6-4" [Video] - May 20, 2007 By : Nima

In a recent interview, Mike Jones said "When I asked my label who bought my album the most, they said Cali. So I had to make my new single a dedication, to show some love."

And so he did! His new single is called "My 6-4" and the hook samples Eazy-E's voice from the classic "Boyz-N-Tha-Hood" track. In addition to that he got Bun B on the song giving it up to the West, as well as Snoop Dogg dropping the third verse.

The video recently aired, and it was a nice surprise to see Mike Jones reach out to Lil Eazy-E and have him lip-synch the hook part of his dad's voice. The video came out very dope, download it below:

news Spider Loc - Blutiful World (Re-Remix) [Video] - May 19, 2007 By : Nima

Rarely has there been as much controversy around a West Coast video as for Spider Loc's "Blutiful World". First the altercation on Brazil St. for the regular remix, and then the shootout at the re-remix video shoot. However the video is finally done, and was premiered last night on spiderloc.com.

The song created a pretty big buzz and was getting decent radio airplay, and the video definitely makes the song justice. A celebration of the color blue, in both song and video. Download it below:

news Jag Is "Mr 17.5" & Talks To His "Cali N-ggas" - May 17, 2007 By : Rud

It was almost a year ago, July 2006, when we first introduced the talented Watts native who goes by the name of Jag. Since then his constant buzz building and busy recording schedule has seen him release his first mixtape in conjunction with Dubcnn for free download.

The first installment in his "Music Money" mixtape series was released at the end of January this year for free download right here on Dubcnn. The mixtape "Money Over Fame" is the first release in a planned trilogy of mixtapes to lead up to a debut album.

The former New York "Fight Klub" competitor kept the mixtape simple ensuring in showcased his skill, mic prescense and lyrics over a blend of original production and mixtape style freestyles.

The original production on the mixtape is handled by Ricc Rude, 1500 Or Nothing, THX, The Animal House, Notch, and DJ Prosper and what Jag delivered over these beats was his multi-dimensional persona and skill-set, showing that he is quickly becoming a well rounded artist. We have the link once again below for you to download the mixtape however today we want to concentrate on two new freestyles that Jag has crafted, one of which where he questions why he wasn't called to featured on the latest The Game track - "Cali Niggas" - so in retrospect he recorded a verse over the instrumental.

Jag - Cali Niggas (Freestyle)

The second freestyle track we have for download is entitled "Mr 17.5" and may well feature on his second "Music Money" mixtape when it drops in the next few months right here on dubcnn, the tentative title for which is "Tha General Strikes Back."

The new album, due June 5th, is the rising producer's long awaited follow up to the underground classic "Digital Master." In this review we decide whether the pairing of J Wells and Kurupt is a success and why you should pick up the album next month.

"Digital Smoke" receives the Dub Quotable: "Digital Smoke is a great effort with some stellar production from Wells. Over a vintage laid back Battlecat production, Kurupt flexes his lyrical muscle, dropping some real life rhymes, with Daz assisting on the hook. Listen to the song below:

Kurupt - Mystic River (Prod. by Battlecat) (STREAM)

The second song is a party jam, a collaboration of Kurupt with some of the freshest new faces on the West. As recently announced on the radio, Kurupt has formed a new group with Terrace Martin and Problem. The trio hooked up with the "best west of the 110" Mykestro to flow over a funky Terrace Martin production. The song is called "All Night", listen below:

Kurupt - All Night (ft. Terrace Martin, Mykestro & Problem) (Prod. by Terrace Martin) (STREAM)

Enjoy the music, and be on the lookout for more news on Kurupt's solo album very soon! Kurupt also wants everybody to lookout for Gail Gotti's debut solo album, which will be overseen by Snoop Dogg & 50 Cent. The Infamous/G-Unit Records signee is ready to show all the doubters and haters what she's capable of! We will be premiering some new music from her project real soon, produced by Niggarachi.

As always, Kurupt has a lot of more on his plate too! Y.A.'s Tri-Star is wrapping up his solo album, and recently shot a video to the first single called "Dresscode Killer", look for that real soon. Y.A. are also finishing up their group album., while Kurupt's Philly group Tangled Thoughts are releasing their album "Philly 2 Cali" May 22nd. And, of course, J. Wells and Kurupt have their group album "Digital Smoke" coming out early June! Looks like Kurupt has some big plans for 2007, keep it locked right here to find out how they unfold!

Before I go though, I've been getting a lot of emails about Tha Dogg Pound's recent appearance on BET's Rap City show. For everybody who requested a video of Kurupt's freestyle, you can watch it by clicking here. Enjoy!

You know, while ya'll peeping out that new Kurupt sh*t, he wanted ya'll to vibe to some old classic DPG shit as well, so here's an old freestyle of Kurupt over The Lox' "We'll Always Love Big Poppa" beat, saying rest in peace to 2Pac and Biggie:

Kurupt - 2Pac & Biggie Tribute (Freestyle)

Vibe off to that until we get back with more music...

news Bigg North Returns With A Message To "MySpace hO's" - May 5, 2007 By : Rud

Early last year we introduced you to Inland Empire up and comer Bigg North with his single The Nu Left Coast featuring Sly Boogy & Lifestyle. The track was a huge success and garnered a new fan base for this talented youngster.

Since then Dubcnn and Bigg North released the collaboration mixtape "Next Up 2 Crack" which featured an array of talent from across the westcoast, even featuring some Dubcnn contest winners. We will refresh memories on that next week when we will release the album for download and also have more copies for sale.

Today we are back with an update and a track from Bigg North that is already making noise. His new single, called "MySpace hO," is set to cause some controversy with the recent talk around Don Imus and as such we spoke to Bigg North to get his reasoning behind the record; "I got this song that I'm dropping as a single, called "MySpace hO". You know some of these chicks be doing too much online, but since the racist/hateful remarks of [Don] Imus I dont want people to respond the wrong way. Its kind of a controversy right now and they are targeting Hip-Hop. I been hearing how they are trying to pick on Snoop and sh-t. All I can say to that is I ain't talking about all women, just the one's that deserve It. If you were a chick and you aint never put yourself out there like that you shouldnt trip, cause this isnt directed toward you. If [however] you are feeling guilty for some sh-t then you should be mad you got put on blast like that in my song because it was directed to you; Quit online hoing.

I aint saying dude's dont do too much on there and sh-t, but I'm a dude and I can't talk about guys doing too much cause I aint on no gay shit. I have nothing but respect for all the classy, self respecing women in the world and [with that in mind] i'm looking to do a remix with a chick on it so she could shoot down the guys that do the same. Check it out, it's just a fun, humorous Hip-Hop song."

With that said we have the single for download below, this track is now available on iTunes, Napster, Bestbuy, Walmart, Sony Connect, Verizon V-Cast and many more outlets so ensure you support it. To grab it now via iTunes click here. The track is also making noise as a ringtone which can be got by sending 35196 to 51927 for the "MySpace hO" ringtone or 35197 to 51927 for the edited version "MySpace prO" ringtone.

We're trying to get the track played on Power 106 right now on the New At 2 slot with Felli Fell and also on Julio G's show. Fans of the track need to text "myspace prO" by Bigg North to 69106. Let's help the I.E. get shown some love! Download the track right now below and make sure you bump it for all to hear.

Earlier this week we brought you details on Watts representer Jay Rock and his impending debut album "Follow Me Home." In that update [see; Watts' Jay Rock Readies "Follow Me Home" For July] we mentioned a feature from K-Dot. As with Jay Rock, I recently caught up with K-Dot live at the Rimac Arena in San Diego, CA.

Coming straight outta Compton, Top Dawg Productions signee K-Dot is working hard on his new album. He has a prospective deal from a major label, which is currently being held under wraps.

In the meantime, K-Dot is focusing on the record, making sure that it comes out exactly how he wants it. When asked about his still untitled debut album, K-Dot excitedly replied, "It’s gonna be a well rounded album, real artistic. I’m expressing myself over the tracks, [and I’m going to give the listeners] something that I feel is missing from the game."

He has already collaborated with big name producers such as Quik, JR Rotem, and Fred Wreck, whom he shared a special chemistry with in the studio. "We knocked out about three tracks, and they all came out blazin’. We’re probably gonna have to keep all three of them for the album." More of the production is coming from in-house producers Soundwave and 4th Quarter. K-Dot feels that "for a good album...you’ve got to have a concept, it has to have the lyrics, and you have to have the [production] tracks...and that’s what I’ve been putting together for the last couple months."

It is apparent that K-Dot has a strong work ethic. He told us that "The key to success is loyalty, dedication, consistency, and keeping your faith in God." Looking back on it, he feels, "That’s what got me to the point I’m at. I remember when I was back in middle school, it was just a dream to be in the office [of a major record label.]" He also went on to explain how he holds Compton native The Game in a high light. "The West Coast gotta appreciate The Game, because he opened a lot of doors for a lot of new West Coast cats. He’s really been an influence to me coming out of [my] city, showing that you can come out of the hood and do your thing...So shout outs to The Game."

K-Dot's new album will assuredly be a treat for all West Coast fans. He hopes for the record to be a unique experience for listeners as well. "I’m trying to bring the good music back, back to the city. And something different from the city too, [but] I ain’t gonna tell you just yet." For more on K-Dot, check his official MySpace page or TopDawgProductions.com - we will keep you updated on his debut due later this year. Be sure to buy his new mixtape, "Training Day," available now for purchase on his MySpace page.

We have the single from the new release entitled "I Don't Like You" for download below. The song, which features Bo$$, tackles a particular issue in Hip-Hop - we asked XL Middleton to explain; "With this album what i'm trying to do is not just come with that regular party music. Every song [on the album] is addressing an issue or situation of some sort."

"With this track [I Don't Like You] in particular i'm addressing all the clice bullsh-t in Hip-Hop music right now and right now a lot of rappers are not helping the current situation in music with the tired ass lyrics about sh-t we have all heard before.
