To the left, you see the cover of the Scipio/Game mixtape put out by Warrior and DJ Strong, called Cali Untouchables Radio Pt. 3. Well that boy Scipio, for those who are still sleeping, is one of the illest emcees out right now. I was priveleged enough to be with Scipio, Warrior, Strong, Da Riffs and others when they were filming a DVD. During that time, I was able to sit down and do a quick interview with Scipio. We talk about his outlook on his career, Ras Kass, the state of Los Angeles Hip Hop and much more. On top of that, I was also able to grab the producer team of the moment Da Riffs and get an interview with them, too. As you can see with Coast Control, they do most of the production on these mixtapes and, as you'll hear in the interview, they handle tons of production for Video Games. We speak about who they've worked with, plan on working with, their musical tastes and more. Peep those interviews out, as audio for the moment, and don't forget to cop DJ Warrior's mixtapes and support Scipio and Da Riffs also!

news 1143663167 - January 1, 1970 By : It's been a while since the West Coast heard of Young Maylay. Yea right, maybe if you've been sleeping all this time. Maylay has been hard at work in the lab working on new music as well as making his presence felt in different ways. He can currently be heard on KDAY getting played by Julio G, for whom Maylay recorded an exclusive radio drop. The Julio G drop features Snoop Dogg and was produced by West Coast vet and hit-producer DJ Pooh.

Maylay is also enjoying success of his last mixtape "San Andreas - The Original Mixtape" which is still making noise in the streets. Maylay has been working on a follow up, which will be his official debut album. The still untitled LP is scheduled to drop this summer, and promises to make you a fan if you're not one already. Maylay's new project is hard hitting with the lyrics and first rate on the production.

To put you in the mood for some of those Maylay heatrocks, Dubcnn is leaking an exclusive teaser that he laced us with. This song is a weed anthem - all smokers will be able to relate to this one. It's called "Gots Ta Smoke" and it was produced by The Company.

Download the song below and hit the forum with some feedback!

Young Maylay - Gots Ta Smoke

Young Maylay can be contacted on his MySpace @ mypace.com/youngmaylay

news 1161993272 - January 1, 1970 By : Dubcnn resident Young Maylay is back in the building and again he's got a special gift for everybody out there, and I mean litterally everybody. This time he becomes internationally active by hooking up with overseas producer DBM. Maylay recorded a song for the Swiss beatmaker's bilingual project which was recently released.

The track is called "Street Chadda" and Young Maylay created a certified Dubcnn anthem. He knocked this out in no time and reps L.A. with four fingers on two verses, making it the album's standout track. DBM produced the track using a Rocky sample which adds a perfect touch to the track and lets Maylay do his thing. That's about it, I'll let the song do the talking...

We'll be bringing you more tracks from DBM's project, which features other songs from the likes of Dirty Birdy, Slo-Mo, Bigg Steele Feat. Gambit, Semi-Automatic Feat. Young Leph, and many more. Also be on the look out for Young Maylay's upcoming mixtape "The Coast Guard", due out in a few months. You can also check out Young Maylay's MySpace by

For now, hit the link below to download "Street Chadda":

news 1167046812 - January 1, 1970 By : We introduced you to Switzerland's up & coming producer DBM in October by presenting a song from his recently released project. We're talking about the collaboration with Young Maylay called "Street Chadda" [see: Young Maylay Got That "Street Chadda"]. The song got a lot of good response, thanks to the dope production and Maylay's flawless performance.

Today we bring you another track from the producer's bilingual project. This time DBM hooked up with the I.E. mic ripper Dirty Birdy. This song is another standout track from the album. Again we got a well produced song combined with Birdy showcasing his MC skills by spitting bar after bar, straight, with no hook. This is the result of an MC recording after a stressful day.

Check out another Christmas gift from Dubcnn by hitting the link below.

news 1169245268 - January 1, 1970 By : It's been a couple of months since we last heard of Semi-Automatic, but not for no reason. The Denver, CO born and raised rapper has been hard at work recording for his upcoming album "The Weapon", due out this spring. The project will be presented by the incarcerated X-Raided with guest appearances by X-Raided himself, Young Leph, South Central Cartel, Big Prodeje, Havikk, Young Maylay, Big Chill, and others.

We brought you one of the songs from the album back in September called "That's What's Up" featuring SCC's Big Prodeje. And today we're back with an exclusive cut called "Throwin Up The West". As you can tell by the title, Semi is holding down the West once again with a left Coast influenced street track. It features Young Maylay on a verse and Modesto's Big Chill on the hook.

news 1173462082 - January 1, 1970 By : While nearing completion of his new "Coast Guard" mixtape, Young Maylay is staying ahead of the competition and feeding the streets with new tracks left and right. Not too long ago we brought you the banger "Street Chadda", where Maylay crafted a certified Dubcnn anthem over a DBM produced track.

Today we got another exclusive song for download. It's the funk'd out "Nymphomaylayacs", and if I say funk'd out I mean funk'd the hell out! The beat was produced by the legendary King T. Damn right, thats King Tipsy getting down behind the boards!

Maylay's MySpace page has some more tracks that are scheduled to appear on "Coast Guard". One of them is the promising intro to the mixtape produced by another West Coast pioneer, DJ Crazy Toones. As you can see, Maylay is running with the big boys, so it's only a matter of time before he's reaching that same status.

Check out the track below and stay tuned for the latest on Maylay. Also make sure you hit up his MySpace page @ myspace.com/youngmaylay to hear the intro.

Dresta Da Gangsta is back on Dubcnn to speak the truth, and he didn't come alone: He brought his partner in crime BG Knocc Out with him, along with Young Maylay, Young Dre The Truth, Killa Polk, and Compton Cavie.

These 6 rappers are not here for no reason, as they want to put the word out that they are in talks of forming a group called Wes Indeed.

Nothing is official and confirmed yet, but the combination sounds definitely right. Not to mention that it's bringing the OG's together with the young guns of the West Coast.

Wes Indeed doesn't just look right on paper, because a sneak preview is already here to prove that the chemistry is there. They've already recorded songs under the collective, one of them being the self-titled track "Wes Indeed".

We'll see what comes out of this, but the song is a banger and Dubcnn is here to bring it to you exclusively:

Dresta, BG Knocc Out, Young Maylay, Young Dre, Killa Polk, Compton Cavie - Wes Indeed

news 1176514614 - January 1, 1970 By : South Central's Tha Trapp are surely no strangers to Dubcnn. Being known as The Swat a few years ago, the duo Money Grip and M.P. recently went through a name change which was followed by the signing to WC's Big Swang Records [see: The Swat Change Name; Sign to WC's Big Swang Records].

Since then, a lot has changed to even better things for them. Most recently, they have shot a video of their street single "Block Music" featuring WC. The video will be added to their MySpace page in the next couple of days.

The video is also featured on DJ Crazy Toones' new "CT Experience" DVD, which hit the streets today. The DVD features brand new videos from most of the songs featured on the "CT Experience" mixtape from artists such as Ice Cube, WC, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound, Bad Lucc, Damani, Soopafly, Xzibit, Young Maylay, and of course Tha Trapp with their "Block Music" video featuring Dub C, amongst others. All videos on the DVD were directed and edited by Dah Dah.

If you missed your copy of the "Block Music" song, which we exclusively premiered back in October, you can get the MP3 by clicking on the following link:

The Coast Guard has been in the studio with DJ Crazy Toones & WC recording music for his solo debut. Anybody who saw him on DJ Crazy Toones' critically acclaimed "CT Experience" DVD should know why Maylay is somebody to watch out for.

Today we have an exclusive new joint from Maylay for ya'll called "Westcoast". The track was produced by Broadway with some touches from Crazy Toones. WC and King Tee also do part of the chorus. Download it below:

The event was held as a charity function with all proceeds benefiting the Snoop Youth Football League. The west coast was out in full force that evening, being that it was Snoop's first headline at the House of Blues in a long time.

Fresh off the release of "Guilty by Affiliation", WC opened the night, along with his brother DJ Crazy Toones and Young Maylay as support. They performed a selection of songs which included "Gangsta Nation", "Bow Down", "West Coast Voodoo", "The Streets", and others.

Headline for the evening, Snoop Dogg brought a plethora of guests to stage with him: Daz, Kurupt, Soopafly, Warren G, Xzibit, Battlecat, Terrace Martin, 1500, and Snoopadelics. They performed such classics as "Next Episode", "Aint No Fun", "Nothin but a G Thang", "Whats My Name" to newer hits like "Sensual Seduction" and "I Wanna Love You".

DJ Quik, the big surprise guest of the evening, came out for a short set and performed "Tonight", "Born and Raised in Compton" and "Sweet Black Pussy" as Snoop Dogg and DPG/Snoopadelic affiliates backed him up.

news 1199233308 - January 1, 1970 By : Today we're dropping off a couple of event galleries that slipped through the cracks during the crowded second half of 2007. We were thinking about locking them up in the "Dubcnn Vault," but we decided to let them slide through today to kick off the new year.

Back in September, Dubcnn attended San Diego's Street Scene - a two-day music festival that featured a variety of acts. Below are pictures from the event. You'll see Too Short performing with a live band, and T.I. pumping up the crowd in one of his final shows before his arrest. Also look out for shots of T-Pain and MIMS.

news 1203554219 - January 1, 1970 By : Dubcnn had the chance to catch up with DJ Crazy Toones to get a few words on his current projects, while he's on the road doing shows with WC. "Ice Cube is shooting a movie in Louisiane right now, he comes home on the weekends to work on "Raw Footage". The album is damn near finished!", Toones said about Cube's upcoming project.

There is no release date as of yet though, we're hoping for a Summer release. If the first single "Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It" is anything to go by, we're in for another raw Ice Cube LP!

Then of course, Young Maylay is working on his street album "The Real Coast Guard", which will be dropping in March. Expect some new music from the project on dubcnn very soon.

A topic that Crazy Toones was very enthusiastic about was talking about Bombai a female DJ from the Bum Squad DJ's. "She's my baby, I'm birthing her to the world. I never took nobody under my wing but I'm taking her. Expect to hear from her." You can currently check out Bombai on K-Day.

Another project that Crazy Toones is involved with is the self-titled Westurn Union mixtape which is coming out soon. Expect some music from that in near future as well. Other projects that are in the works include a Snoop Dogg mixtape, and of course the follow-up to "CT Experience", "It's A Demo". He also mentioned Tha Trapp are working on a new still untitled project. Sounds like he got a lot on his plate, we'll definitely keep you updated on all of them though. Keep it locked.

news 1215211346 - January 1, 1970 By : Damn it feels good to be independent! Not only is it Independence Day for America, but you could also use the opportunity to drop your album that same day as a symbolic reflection. In this case, today marks the release of Young Maylay's anticipated new street album "The Real Coast Guard". Unlike most projects which drop on Tuesdays, Maylay went and got his own street date to release his sophomore project.

It's already been over 3 years since Maylay entered the game with his critically acclaimed "GTA: San Andreas" mixtape. Back then, we put the spotlight on him and announced him as an artist with a lot of potential. With the release of this new project, we can definitely say that he made that transition from being an underground rapper to an important part of the new generation in West Coast Rap. And you know you can't go wrong when you have two West Coast vets like DJ Crazy Toones and WC present the project, which, by the way, is also backed by Dubcnn a 100%.

So it's only right that we chopped it up with Maylay and dicussed "The Real Coast Guard" in this indepth interview. We get into the name changes of the mixtape, comparisons to his previous project, quality control, being inspired and guided by Crazy Toones and Dub C on the project, the West Coast state as well as the ongoing new artists vs. old artists talk, future plans and much more.

Exclusive Interview with Young Maylay (July 2008)

As ever, you can read and listen to this exclusive interview and we urge you to leave feedback on our forums or email them to liljay@dubcnn.com.

"The Real Coast Guard" can now be ordered from Maylay's MySpace page. It comes with features from Toones, Dub C, King T, Jelly Roll, Bad Lucc, Traci Nelson, and of course Maylay himself bringing that realness straight from the streets.

Tracklist & audio preview:
