Despite an all-star cast, the recent release Soul Plane has crash landed with movie goers grossing less than 12 million dollars at the box office.
And while many people have pointed to the film’s highly stereo-typical characters as the cause of the backlash, the movie’s director, Jessy Terrero, attributes the lack luster performance to good olﾒ fashion bootlegging.
“It killed us,” said Terrero in a recent interview with Daily Variety . “When 50 Cent called me to tell me he was watching my movie, I knew it was a big problem “
Terrero thinks that bootlegged version is from an early cut he finished in November.
In recent months the FBI has crackdown on both Internet and street piracy to prevent unlawful distribution of digital media.
There is no word on whether the bureau is after Soul Planeﾒs hijackers.
