ﾓYAY Areas RAWEST Asian Hip-Hop MC… Emcee T is steppin’ up as the first note-worthy emcee to make a mark in the Bay Area rap game.” Born in East Oakland, schooled in Santa Rosa, and currently putting it down in San Jose, Emcee T has been writing since 1995. His debut mixtape CD has the sole purpose of promoting not only himself, but his entourage of Bay Area talent – everything from his Filipino homeboys, Thugg Baby Ent. from Daly City to his little homie KO aka YellowFever, a Taiwanese producer/rapper who raps completely in Mandarin.
T understands that the Bay is all about the ﾓHyphyﾔ Movement but as his intro states, “The New Bay Frontline real hyphy, gets respect… sorry that ain’t T.” With his debut mixtape CD carves up a unique array of tracks with diverse sounds from Hip-Hop to House starring artists from the West to East coast. As T states in the introduction to Hard Headed the Mixtape, “I got a little of something for everyone on this one.”
T’s love for Hip-Hop started in the early to mid 90’s – taking a particular ear to Bay Area rappers such as Too $hort, RBL Posse / N.O.H. Mafia, 11-5, 4-Tay, Mac Dre, Cellski, and Spice 1. It wasn’t until he moved to Santa Rosa in 1995, when he was introduced to the art of freestyle, which in turn pushed T to start writing. “I ran into Ray Luv’s cousin at a house party in Santa Rosa. I caught him in a freestyle session rappin’ over Dre Dog’s ﾑSome Dope and Some Rapﾒ… the flow had me staggered, shit had me amazed and from that, I caught the bug.”
Fast forward to 2005 – Vishus Entertainment, an East Coast label signed Emcee T. With hot acts Young Bling & 6-Five, and the backing from Vishus, T has finally decided to release his first mixtape CD, Hard Headed the Mixtape. You can be sure T has a lot to get off his chest.
