Kardinal has changed many preconceived notions of what a hip-hop artist is. He doesn’t hail from New York, L.A. , or Atlanta; he embraces his Canadian Jamaican heritage. He is the unofficial ambassador of Toronto.
At least when it comes to hip-hop, Kardi’s positive outlook was strained by label drama that saw his then-label, MCA, absorbed into Geffen in 2003 right before the release of the now-scrapped “F-Word Theory”, the official follow-up to 2001’s “Firestarter Vol. 1: Quest for Fire”. While shopping around for a new deal, the patois-spitting, triple-threat rapper/producer/singer guested on a slew of remixes from Neptunes affiliates Clipse’s “Grindin” to UK grime star Lethal Bizzle’s “Pow!”.
Now with a new home, Kardi is getting ready to relase his new LP “Fire & Glory”. We have the tracklisting and a preview track for you to check out.
