It doesn’t get much harder than this for a line up; does it? The Inland Empire’s hottest rhyme spitter Sly Boogy has aligned with Long Beach’ own Crooked I and Watts’ notorious Kam to record a track which is sure to get the fans hyped.
The L.A. production team The System have blessed us with this cut which is set to feature on their Compilation album entitled; “Flood The West” due out at the end of 2006. The System explained how the collaboration with the trio came out on their MySpace page;
“Let me say nuff respect to Sly, Crooked, & Kam for blessing us with this coloaboration. It was a pleasure working with them! How did it Come about? We’ll I met Sly last year 2005. I got a call from Bishop Lamont, during the time we were working on songs for Dr. Dre’s still unreleased LP “Detox”, saying that a DJ by the name of F Sharp [Dubcnn Affiliate] from San Diego was doing a mixtape and needed a spot to have a few artist come and drop some verses. I was like cool. We spoke a few times to agree on an arrangement that was mutually beneficial. Soon afterwards I got a call from Sly Boogy saying that he was supposed to come through my spot (The Sweat Box) and lay a verse on DJ Quik’s ‘Fandango’. When Sly Boogy came through I was definately humbled by how cool he was and soon began talking about Ghana (where I’m from) and a friend of his that was from there too. By the end of the session, He was leaving with a CD of beats. Two weeks later he hit me and asked if a beat that he heard on the CD was still available? I told him yes and he said that he was working on something for it and would call when he was ready to recorded it.”
“Fast Forward 2 months later. He calls and sets a day to come through and record. When he comes through he is with two ladies TK aka Ms. King and Apryl. He said he wanted a hook sang. Sly stepped to the Mic to lay down what we thought then was a ruff of the Hook. As he began to sing the hook everyone in the room was amazed not only that Sly had a good voice but at how sick the hook was. It was a hit!!! Ms. TK got on the mic and did her thang and it was a wrap! The next day I sent a ruff version to Sly aia email and he said he was gonna see who else he could get on it. He tried to get Kurupt, Jayo Felony, Roscoe, and a few others. Crooked I was the first to get back. He was with it. He knocked it out and sent over the vocals. As we were still thinking of who else would be on the song, I got a call from my boy One Punch. I told him about the song and he immediately thought of Kam. He made the call and Kam came through a few nights later and knocked it out! Now Kam is also cool as f-ck! We were on some African shit too! Him and Sly are like family right now, they come by and chill with us! We put something on the grill and its a BBQ! Anyway I hope you enjoy the fruits of our labor!”
