Shanteメ Broadus, founder and head of Boss Lady Entertainment, is making some very special young people happy this Easter. Today, Saturday, April 7th 2007, she will host the First Annual Boss Lady Entertainment Easter Celebration at Dorsey High School from 11a.m. to 3 p.m.
During this free, fun-filled event, participants will be treated to face painting, food, arts and crafts, video games and more. There will be an Easter egg hunt and Easter baskets will be distributed.
The Boss Lady is even making sure the children look their best for Easter with haircuts for the boys and hair styling for the girls. The school is located at 3537 Farmdale Ave. The participating youth are from the KARMA Foundation. This non-profit agency works closely with youth living in foster homes.
Broadus, a mother of three, has a soft spot in her heart for disadvantaged children. “Iメve been holding a back to school event for kids for several years and I decided I wanted to start doing something in the spring too. Easter can be a special time in a childメs life, but only if someone else plans to make it special. I want to be that someonem, some of these kids have been through so much and this is an opportunity for them to have a good time and take home some treats,” explained Shanteメ.
The area surrounding Dorsey High School is the first neighborhood selected for the Easter Celebration, but Broadus plans to shift it to different areas each year. The neighborhoods selected will coincide with the ones where she and her husband, rapper Snoop Dogg, have teams participating in the Snoop Youth Football League. There are currently 10 teams.
