It’s almost Sunday night, the end of the weekend is approaching, but we’re still on time for this week’s Weekend Audio blast on dubcnn. This week’s biggest track was without a doubt Bishop Lamont‘s Dr. Dre-produced single “Grow Up“, but here are some other tracks that slipped through the cracks.
Hip-Hop legends Naughty By Nature are still alive and kicking, as a matter of fact Treach, Vin Rock and Kay Gee have come together to work on a new group album, as well as to release their new clothing line Naughty Gear. This week they gave us a first taste of their new music.
They put together a remix to The Game‘s current smash “Game’s Pain“, which they flipped to “Hip-Hop’s Pain“. They reversed the concept of the song, giving it up to the new generation and shouting out many of the current stars of the Hip-Hop world. The chorus was handled by Rene Neufville of Zhane. Check it out below:

Next up is another old school legend who’s making a comeback. R&B singer Montell Jordan (“This Is How We Do It“) is returning with a new album called “Pressure“, and has released a first track from the record called “Not No More“. The song is a collaboration with female singer Cignature from Atlanta. The album, “Pressure“, is set to drop independently later this summer. Until then, listen to “Not No More” below:

Let’s get to Philadelphia/California representer Tekneek aka Tek Nizzle. He’s been repped in the Weekend Audio for the last few weeks and he keeps feeding us new tracks. He sent us a new joint this week that is hot to def. This is another solo track from the Tangled Thoughts producer/rapper. He collaborated with French producer Cartel Sons (All Day Music) on the track, while the cuts were provided by DJ Promo. It’s called “Microphone Soloist” and showcases Tek’s MC skills, check him out:

It’s been a hot minute since we heard from Inglewood group AllFrumTha I. While I don’t have any news on the group, I do have something from one half of AllFrumTha I, Squeak Ru. Squeak recently inked a deal with Fontana/Universal distributed DMAFT Records, a part of the Oglio Entertainment Group, to release his solo debut “Fatworld” and the companion iTunes exclusive “Digital Fat World 2“. “Fatworld” is set to feature Ice Cube, MC Eiht, Damani and G-Luv amongst others. We have a track off the album for ya’ll, it’s called “Belly Button“, check it out:
Squeak Ru – Belly Button
Next is an up and coming artist from Arizona by the name of Tha Sire, who’s been heavily networking with the West Coast. He recently released his album “Tha Arrival” and he’s got a nice list of features on there: Kurupt, GOldie Loc, KMG, Kokane, Jayo Felony and Slim Tha Mobster all make appearances on “Tha Arrival“, while production was supplied by Josef Leimberg, Tru and Mamie Gungz amongst others. We have an exclusive track off the album for ya’ll called “No Game Playing“, featuring Kurupt and Kokane:

Lastly, we’d like to leave you with a throwback joint. I recently rediscovered this track while listening to Kurupt‘s “Space Boogie“. It was one of the bonus tracks on the special edition of the album, called “The Life I Live” and featured R&B crooner Krook. I’m not sure who produced the track, but it’s smooth as hell and features vintage Kurupt dropping some real life rhymes. I know most of you know the song already, but you might have no listened to it in a while, so go ahead and pop it back in:

That’s it for this week, we’ll see you in seven days for more Weekend Audio!
