Scan Pulls No Punches On “F-ck The Westcoast”

0

January was the last time we heard from Scan, the artist we have been reporting on regularly since his 2005 debut album; “The Passion.”

Since that debut he has successfully released the Ground Up Entertainment mixtape entitled Ground Up Live and then in 2007 a mixtape called Loud & Clear both of which were made avaialble for free download right here on Dubcnn.

In our January update we told you that Scan is about to release a single that is sure to raise eyebrows with the title “F-ck The Westcoast.” The cover can be seen in the news image and you can see the back cover of his new mixtape “Reality Check” with DJ Fingaz here. In the last update we released a track called For The Love but have since not come back with the promised single. Today we have that single for stream and download below.

Scan – F-ck The Westcoast

We want you to judge and comment on the track via our forums however Scan told us that although some might disagree with the words, this track addresses “attitudes and politics on the West Coast” and highlights what he says is the decline of “fan support for up and coming independent rappers on the Westcoast.” Scan has never bitten his tongue and never will so expect this to strike a chord.

Ground Up Entertainment CEO Donald Johnson told Dubcnn; “The politics on the Westcoast is not like the East coast or Down South. If you not attached to certain people on the Westcoast you not going to go anywhere. There has been many great rappers that dropped from the Coast that got disregarded because Snoop or Dre is not pushing them or not affilated in any way with him or her. They might buzz for a minute but it dies quickly. Scan’s new album ‘The Message’ will not only be a Westcoast Classic but the album will be a Hip-Hop Classic”

We also just got word that Scan and Da Riffs were in the studio this past weekend and have started work on a mixtape. This will come out after two releases that are due for release in April – the DJ Fingaz presented “Reality Check” and the Scan and LeMarvin collaboration “No Pain, No Gain.”
