Amad-Jamal Is “Barely Hangin On” – Debut Album Out Now

0

Back in June we dropped an update on the then impending release Amad-Jamal’s debut album “Barely Hangin On: The Chronicles of a N-gga Like Rodney King.”

The anticipated release from underground hip-hop phenomenon Amad-Jamal is now available and has been getting regular spins from the Dubcnn staff so we had to drop a reminder that you have to pick this album up. The album achieves a balance of old and new by bringing back the elements of live talent blended with old timeworn traditional hip-hop collaborations. The whole feel of this album is innovation without compromise to the fundamental elements.

DJ Brisk One, the foundation of this record, is a seasoned DJ/Producer from West Salt Lake City who worked alongside Amad-Jamal and Colonious Funk to craft a definitive sound that bridges Hip-Hop from the past with the commercially viable sound of the genre at present. “Barely Hanging On: The Chronicles of a N-gga Like Rodney King” is an intimate look at Amad-Jamalメs growth as an artist and as a man. He honestly exposes his most dark and intimate thoughts while sending the message that empowerment can come from just taking a really good look in the mirror and not denying whatメs there.

Today we wanted to remind you of the track we dropped back in June, the Defari featured Regardless and give you two more tracks from the album to show you why this is on release not to be ignored. First up we have the Dilated Peoples featured “Believe That” followed by the solo track “Goin Postal”

The album, “Barely Hangin On: The Chronicles of a N-gga Like Rodney King,” is in stores now and features Dilated Peoples, Defari, Maaya Ota aka Lady Dragon, and Gotham Green. Production is shared by Brisk One and DJ Dahi.
