Pulling up to a million dollar mansion in an innocuous but wealthy neighborhood, I double checked the address to make sure it was correct… it was.
Two wrought iron gates stood in front of me and a bevy of security cameras and an intercom flanked my car. I dialed the button and the gates ominously opened. Boisterous and charismatic, Slim walked out and greeted me. “What up cuz. Not too many people make it behind these doors.”
We walked inside his house and he sat down, offering me a drink. The phone rang and I heard an eerily familiar voice, “What up.” “What’s good unc?”. “I’m leaving Detroit and back in town this week. Let’s link up.” “Fasho”. Slim calmly hung up the phone and looked at me, “That was Dre. Detox is done”.
Shrouded in mystery, Slim the Mobster is the next protege of a man who needs no introduction whatsoever. Having written over 70% of Detox and the latest single, “Kush” he is next on deck after the long awaited Detox drops this year. Preferring to keep a low profile, we had the rare opportunity to sit down with him for one of the most in depth interviews he has given in his career. Below is part one of that interview.
