Pittsburgh Filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, best known for directing the award-winning film Training Day, has been working on a biopic about the late Tupac Shakur for some time. Now some details about the planned film have come to light. The film will of course feature actors portraying Tupac, his mother, and Suge Knight, as well as Jada Pinkett Smith who was a classmate and friend of the rapper during his teen years in Baltimore.
The filmﾒs official synopsis, courtesy of Moviehole.com, reads like this: ﾓThe rise and fall of TUPAC SHAKUR is chronicled, from his days attending the Baltimore School of the Arts as a teenager, to his decision to leave his motherﾒs dead-end life behind and embrace the Thug Life in California, to his wild success as a rapper and his dangerous war against the East Coast scene. A true poet who was waylaid by fameﾒs trappings, his earliest ambition was to change the world and make a difference in peopleﾒs lives, and before his tragic murder in Las Vegas in 1996, thatﾒs exactly what 2Pac didﾅﾔ.
No actors have been attached to the flick, but Moviehole has a quote from Fuqua about how he will approach the casting, ﾓI want to discover someone new. I want to discover a lot of new people if I can. Obviously Iﾒm going to have to put some people in it that you know, just because actors have different skills. I want to go to the streets and find him anywhere he might be in the world.ﾔ
